<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Valve bag
The present invention relates to a new type of plastic valve bag having better tear resistance.
It has already been proposed to produce valve bags, the valve of which is constituted by a tab originally projecting above the upper edge of a tubular element. The valve is shaped by folding the tab inwardly so that its longitudinal edges come to be placed along the upper transverse edge of the tubular element, then by welding the transverse edges of the tubular element. The production of such valve bags is very easy. And the cutting of the tubular elements in a sheath according to the head-cover system makes it possible to minimize the losses of material duos during the formation of the tab,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
However, this type of valve bag has a fairly significant drawback.
When carrying out the welding of the upper transverse edge. * One has to carry out the welding, on a certain portion, of two thicknesses of film, while on the other portion, one is in the presence of four film thicknesses. Therefore, the welding apparatus must be set for a double thickness so as not to melt the double thickness portion, which results in a noticeable decrease in the strength of the weld at four thicknesses. The bags obtained therefore exhibit a certain fragility in the upper part of their valve, which is very inconvenient during their filling since the bag is generally then suspended from this location from the filling nozzle.
The Applicant has now developed a new type of valve bag in which all the attachments are made only on a double thickness of film.
The valve bag according to the invention is formed from a tubular element also having a tab originally projecting above its upper edge and which is intended for producing the valve. In order to obtain the valve bag according to the invention, the longitudinal edges of said tab and the transverse edges of the tubular element are fixed to each other, then the tubular sleeve is rolled up.: Formed by. the tab inside said tubular element and this sleeve is fixed to one of the internal walls of the tubular element.
The embodiment of the valve bag according to the invention is taken in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which figures 1 to 3 show the various steps in the production of a type of valve bag according to invention, while Figs. 4 to 7 illustrate another variant embodiment of this type of bag. - 'As it appears in FIG. 1, one uses.un tubular element 1, extended by a tab 2 projecting above the upper edge. This element can be cut either in a tubular sheath, or in a sheet which is then given a tubular shape.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
To make the valve bag, the fasteners 3, 4 and 5 are first made, as shown in FIG. 2, then the tubular sleeve 3 is rolled up inside the tubular element 1 and one of its walls is secured to one of the walls of said tubular element by a fastener 6 preferably having a rounded shape as shown in FIG. . 3.
The valve bag thus obtained therefore has an inlet valve directed towards the bottom of the bag.
According to another variant shown in Figs 4 to 7, we also start with a tubular element 1 provided with a tab 2. To make this type of bag, we first perform the fixings 3, 4 and 5 then we roll up the tubular sleeve 3 thus formed inside the tubular element along the fold line 8 so as to obtain an inlet valve parallel to the upper edge of the bag. One of the walls of the valve is secured to an internal wall of the tubular element by a fastener 6 or 7 having a rounded shape.
The fasteners 3, 4 and 5 can be produced by gluing or by welding and it can be seen that these are always made to the same thickness, that is to say to a double thickness. These fasteners do not therefore pose any particular problem and the welding machine can, for example, be adjusted so as to obtain an ideal weld with good tear resistance.
Likewise, the Applicant prefers that the fasteners 6 and 7 made between a wall of the valve and an internal wall of the tubular element have a rounded shape, because it has found that this type of fastening is more resistant to tearing. This fixing is preferably carried out by welding but it can however also be obtained by gluing if the fixing 5 is not carried out until after this operation.
The Applicant has described two models of bag according to its invention. but it is obvious that this can be the subject of numerous variants which do not go beyond the scope of the invention. In particular, the valve can avoid

dement occupy intermediate positions with respect to the extreme positions described in the two variants. Furthermore, the plastic material used can be any.
