<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
Le cylindre 14 comporte des moyeux 17 et 17' et il est soutenu par des paliers 31 et 32. Le moyeu de droite 17' (fissure 2) est relié rigidement à un moyeu à couronne 34 par des boulons 36 et l'ensemble peut tourner sur le moyeu fixe 37 fixé par une bride 38 au corps X de la machine. La périphérie du moyeu fixe 37 présente un canal 18 fraisa suivant une partie seulement de cette périphérie. Dans le moyeu à couronne 34 sont prévus des conduits radiaux 19 agences de manière à correspon- dre à ce canal 18 et dans lesquels s'engagent des conduits 19' (quelques-uns seulement de ces conduits sont représentés à la figure 1);

Un système de chauffage de la machine est.prévu;
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

ge application but however present significant drawbacks *, noted high cost because of the slow = manufacturing or because of the raw material used high weight, brittleness and small dimensions; the second type of chipboard plate can only be used inside buildings because it does not adapt well to open-air use.
The inventor has already proposed in the Italian patent
N 606.560 of April 7, 1953 to remedy the disadvantages of known plates by providing for a new type of manufacture using covering raw materials to which a special preparation technique confers remarkable characteristics, in particular: unlimited dimension in the longitudinal direction, maximum dimensions in width, lightness, transparency, high breaking coefficient, homogeneity of composition, easy possibility of producing curved surfaces, etc.
The installation described in this Italian patent N
606.560, although giving satisfaction, comprises two forming cylinders, the present of which creates some difficulties; for example, the material treated, as it passes from one cylinder to another, undergoes elongations and contractions which result in defects in the plate obtained. Further, due to the inevitable clearance existing between the meshed parts of the cylinders, the corrugation profile or the like cannot be rigorously reproduced from one mold to another, so that certain irregularities.
In the installation of the aforementioned Italian patent, it is also difficult to maintain a constant temperature; moreover, the air vacuum used is not entirely satisfactory.
The object of the present invention is therefore to remedy all these drawbacks by providing for simple manufacture and. speed of laminated plates, more particularly corrugated plates, made from simple and not very sharp materials.

The process for manufacturing plates, according to the invention, is characterized in that a fabric of any material, in particular of glass fibers, which has been previously plated, passes over a cylinder carrying elements forming a mold at its base. peripheral surface and on which esterealized a pressure or a conformation of the plasticized fabric.
Manufacturing is normally done continuously and hot.
The invention also relates to the installation used.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description given below by way of non-limiting example and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is a side view, partially schematic, of the installation according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view along the vertical diametral plane of the cylinder of Figure 1.
Figures 3 and 4 show. '. larger scale realization details *
In Figure 1, there is shown the feeding and plasticizing devices which were discussed in the patent. Italian vet. No. 606.560. The fabric 3 of reels 1 or 2 can be fed between reels 4 and 4 'comprising tension systems 5 and 6.
The fabric then passes between cylinders 10 and 10 '; in the upper recess formed between these is the plasticizing material 12 which is intended to coat the fabric over its entire length, being held against it by thin sheets of cellophane or similar material unwinding from coils 7 and 7 'and passing through guide drums 8 and 8 * and tensioners 9 and 9' towards the cylinders 10 and 10 '; these sheets of cellophane are placed over the entire external surface of the plasticized fabric at the outlet thereof from the drums 10 and 10 '.
The fabric thus plasticized and coated is guided by a

bour 11 to a drum 13 with satellite cylinders. The drum 13 in fact comprises bars, for example made of steel tube, each supported by ball bearings and mounted in satellite on a circular support. This drum 13, through its satellite cylinders, takes the outer shape of a forming cylinder 14 which has a certain number of parts 23 arranged side by side and together forming a fluted mold allowing the production of corrugations in the fabric 3.
These parts 23 extend over the entire length of the cylinder and an air vacuum exerts its effects on the fabric through perforators 22 and 22 '(Figure 3) made in the rim of the cylinder 14 and in these parts 23. The vacuum air is applied through conduits 19 and 19 'which will be discussed later.
The cylinder 14 has hubs 17 and 17 'and it is supported by bearings 31 and 32. The right hub 17' (crack 2) is rigidly connected to a crown hub 34 by bolts 36 and the assembly can rotate. on the fixed hub 37 fixed by a flange 38 to the body X of the machine. The periphery of the fixed hub 37 has a milled channel 18 following only part of this periphery. In the crown hub 34 are provided radial conduits 19 arranged so as to correspond to this channel 18 and in which the conduits 19 'engage (only a few of these conduits are shown in FIG. 1);
The fresh channel 18 'in the fixed hub 37 constitutes a vacuum chamber, the vacuum being created by a vacuum pump, not shown, connected to the vacuum chamber by the conduits 39 and 39'.
It will easily be understood that, whenever the radial conduits 19 are in communication with the vacuum chamber 18, they will allow a suction action through the intermediary of the conduit 19 in the parts 23 of which it has been.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Previous question On the other hand, this suction action will cease when the ducts 19 are not in communication with the vacuum chamber 18; this is the case of three conduits 19 and the three conduits 19 'corresponding to FIG. 1.
The conduits 19 'which leave the crown 34- end in sealed boxes 21 welded to the cylinder 14 in a corresponding manner with corrugated parts 23, allow the action of the air vacuum that is to say - say a suction, or conla leakage of air through the perforations 22 made in the rim of the cylinder 14 and, therefore, through the chamber 40 exiting internally to the parts 23 and through the perforations. 22 'of these -Here, the air can escape to the outside *
All of the boxes 21 are in communication with each other by conduits 47. '
A heating system for the machine is provided;
this is an electrical system or, in the case represented, a system with radiators 41 in which steam circulates, through the conduits 42 and 43, these being provided in the body of the hub rotary 17 supported by the bearing 32, the admission of steam being made by the connector 48, while its outlet is made by the connector 49. To avoid heat loss and to keep the cylinder 14 at constant temperature, it is possible to provide thermal insulation by means of an insulating enclosure 50.
It will be understood that, when the conduits 19 of the crown 34 rotate around the periphery of the hub 37, being placed in communication with the vacuum chamber 18, they can receive the action of the vacuum, this action being transmitted to the boots 21, to the perforations 22 of the cylinder 14, to the parts 23 and to the perforations 22 'thereof, so that a suction or attraction is carried out on the plasticized fabric passing over the parts 23, thus ensuring the adhesion of this fabric on these parts *
At the time of passage of the conduits 19 had to the part
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
full of hub 37 (sector * in figure 1),
there is no more suction through the corresponding tubes 19 'so that the plasticized fabric separates from the cylinder 14, after passing between the latter and the satellite cylinder drum 24, to continue its path on supports 25 and 26,
The whole supporting and rotating mechanism with the cylinder 14 is subjected to a temperature of about 120 thanks to the radiators 41.
The cellophane scratches which have wrapped the plasticized fabric during the treatment of this one can pull received- pierced at the exit of the cylinder 14,
It should be understood that the invention is not limited to the details given but that many variations can be envisaged without departing from the scope of the present patent.
