<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Le procédé qui fait l'objet de l'invention consiste disposer à l'intérieur d'une enceinte communiquant avec l'extérieur une poche souple et étanche communi- quant avec l'extérieur, indépendamment de cette enceinte, de façon à conatituer deux logements distincts, étanches l'un par rapport à l'autre, respectivement et sélectivement pour de l'air et.pour la substance, l'un desdits logements étant constitué par la poche et -l'autre par l'espace compris entre cette poche et 'l'enceinte;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
de déformation de la poche, associés à l'enceinte, qui crient-dans le logement de là substance une pression différente de la pression extérieure pendant les opéra* . tions de distribution, et assurent l'équilibre des pressions en dehors de ces opérations . ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
annulaire 33.
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

Method and device for dispensing an uncompacted substance
The present invention relates to a method for dispensing, under manual control, a non-compacted substance, as well as a device for carrying out this method.
For dispensing loose substances. that is to say liquids, pastes or non-agglomerated pulverulent materials, one generally uses tubes or other expressive vessels by deformation * - or else piston devices. Strain expression vessels and tubes have
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the advantage of easy manufacture and a low cost price if they can be made of plastic.
However, the plastic materials commonly used for their manufacture have either the drawback of being elastic or permeable to certain substances such as water vapor or essential oils, which prohibits their use in many fields, such as food and beauty products. Because of this elasticity, the tubes or containers made of these materials return to their initial shape when part of the substance which they contained has been expelled and air is sucked in. This air entry causes in many cases a deterioration of the substance to be distributed, in particular by oxidation.
The invention makes it possible to alleviate such drawbacks and to produce containers for non-compact substances which on the outside retain, full or empty, an unchanged appearance and which prevent any untimely entry of air.
The method which is the subject of the invention consists in placing inside an enclosure communicating with the outside a flexible and waterproof pocket communicating with the outside, independently of this enclosure, so as to constitute two housings. separate, sealed with respect to each other, respectively and selectively for air and for the substance, one of said housings being constituted by the pocket and the other by the space between this pocket and 'the enclosure;
and moving the substance between its housing and the exterior by manual actuation of means
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
deformation of the pocket, associated with the enclosure, which in the housing of the substance create a pressure different from the external pressure during the opera *. distribution, and ensure the pressure balance outside these operations. ;
The means of deformation can be incorporated. by an air pump serving to fill or empty the air chamber or by means of twisting the bag containing the substance to be dispensed
In some embodiments, the substance may be placed in the pocket or in the space between the pocket and the enclosure.
The pouch may be pleated or simply flaccid and in the event that it is desired to dispense simultaneously different substances kept separate until the time of dispensing, a multiple compartment pouch can be used.
The enclosure may consist of a container. at least part of the wall of which is elastic and can be actuated by the user like an air pump membrane.
The invention enables inexpensive and safe devices for parenteral drug injection, as well as a container for pasty monk products for edible use (such as mustard, cream, condensed milk, mayonnaise). , anchovy butter), or aesthetic (for example, foundation, shaving cream, toothpaste * cosmetic).
The invention will be better understood on reading the following detailed description and on examining the

Fig. There is a view analogous to that of fig. 10 of a.variant, and '
Fig. 11a is a schematic perspective view of the removable pocket of the device of the pin 11.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the enclosure is constituted by a container 1 made of elastic material, for example polyethylene, the bottom of which has an opening 2, closed by a valve 3 formed by a simple tongue partially glued inside the container 1. A bag 4 in a material, flexible thin, for example very thin polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride or regenerated cellulose, such as that sold under the. trade name of "Cellophane", is placed inside the container 1.
The opening of the pocket 4 is applied to the neck of the neck of the container 1 by an elastic washer 5, held tight by a crimped stopper 6. Thus, the pocket 4 is kept suspended inside the container 1 and communicates with the 'outside by. orifice 7 for dispensing cap 6.
When pressing the side walls of the container 1, as shown in phantom in FIG. 1, the
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
substance 8 contained in the pocket 4 is expelled through the orifice 7. When you stop pressing on the walls of the container 1, they return to their initial position shown in solid lines, and air enters through the opening 2 by lifting the valve 3, which prevents any air suction 'inside the pocket 4.
The constriction formed by the dispensing orifice 7 contributes to preventing the withdrawal of the substance 8.
In the embodiment shown in fig 2, the enclosure is also constituted by an elastically deformable container 21, the bottom of which has an opening 22, but in this case, the pocket 24 is inserted and fixed in the orifice 22. L The open end of the pocket 24 is closed by a valve 23 which allows air to enter the interior of the pocket but not to leave it.
A screw cap 26, of the normal type, closes the neck of the container 21.
When pressing on the wall of the container 21, the substance 28 contained inside the container, between the wall thereof and the pocket, is expelled through the neck. When the pressure is released, the rir enters through the valve 23 and expands the pocket 24, which allows the container 21 to resume its initial ormc shown in solid lines, meaning that it occurs at the entry. air inside the container 21.
In the mode of realization-! ion shown in FIG. 3, the enclosure is constituted by a can of elastic material 31 comprising a crimped metal base 39 having a central pin directed inwards and pierced with a lateral opening 32 closed by a valve
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
annular 33. A pocket of flexible material 34, with soft compartments, contains two substances to be dispensed / 38 and "38 '. The two compartments a simultaneously open into an extract of the pocket 34 screwed inside the neck of the tube. container 31. A plug 36 closes the dispensing orifice 37 during periods of storage.
The operation of the device shown in FIG. 3 is similar to that of the device of flet 1 ..
In the device shown in, figs. 4 and 4a, the pouch is constituted by a container in the form of an accordion 44 suspended by its neck in an orifice made in the bottom of a rigid base 41 constituting the enclosure of the device. On either side of this orifice, there are two openings 42-42 ', each respective-!' ment to valves 43-43 'which control the passage of air from the inside to the outside, and vice versa, between the container 44 and the base 41. An inverter 49, consisting of a perforated cup, allows bringing, by rotation on the base 41, an opening 49 'in front of the openings 42 and 42', in order to release or selectively close these openings.
The open end of the base 41 is closed by an elastic membrane 45,. Held in place by a crimped ring 46, '
Thus, when the membrane 45 is pressed, in a first position of the inverter 49, the air is compressed (FIG. 4a) between the base 41 and the container 44; and substance 48 is expelled. In the other position (fig. 4), the air is expelled, and when we stop pressing on the membrane 45, the substance is sucked in.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
inside the container 44.
For an intermediate position of the reverser 49, the air does not. can neither enter nor leave its housing and the substance cannot enter or leave the container 44.
The device shown in FIG. 5 comprises a container 54, similar to that of FIG. 4, arranged inside a box 51, rigid, closed by a crimped cover 56, in an opening of which is elaatically inserted the dispensing tip 57 of the container
54. The bottom of the box is extended by a tubular part forming a valve 53 around which is elastically inserted a bulb made of rubber, or similar material, 55, communicating with the outside by a second valve 52. The two valves 52 and 53 act in the menu direction, that is to say they allow the expulsion of the air contained in the bulb 35 and the suction of the air contained in the space between the box 51 and the container 54.
Alternatively, one can mount a similar bulb, with valves operating in reverse, to dispense by expulsion the substance contained in the container 54.
When the pear 55 is allowed to return to its original form, after having compressed it, the substance 58 is sucked through the dispensing orifice 57.
In the embodiment shown in fig. 6, an elastic plastic tube, of conventional shape 61, terminated at one end by a screw neck formed by a stopper 66, and closed by flattening and welding at its other end, contains a pocket 64
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
folded in the manner of a game balloon, the tubular end of which is taken in the welded end 62 of the tube 61 through which it opens to the outside, bous the control of a tab 63 forming a valve.
This valve allows air to enter the pocket 64, but not out.
The operation of this device is similar to that of fig, 2 :,
Fig. 7 shows a sterile set for parenteral injections. Two concentric tubes 71 and 74 made of plastic material are assembled by welding on the same injected head 72, crossed by a parenteral injection needle 77, the channel of which communicates only with the inside of the tube 74. The head 72 is extended by a end piece 79 which can be separated from the head by rotation, as indicated by an arrow on the pin 7, and torn off.
The needle 77 is thus freed, both from the end piece 79 which protected it against external contamination, and from a mandrel 75 constituted by a metal wire which ensures the freedom of the channel of the needle 77. Both tubes 71 and 74 are. 'joined by flattening and welding at 76 at their other end. In a small tube 73 trapped in the weld 76, split., And flattened at its end opening inside the space between the tubes 71 and 74 constitutes a valve allowing air to enter. in this space, but not out of it.
When the tube 71 is squeezed, the substance -78 contained in the tube 74 is expelled through the channel of the needle 77, but there can be suctioned through this same channel.
