<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

102 de la chaudière pour résister à la pression de l'eau in- troduite dans ledit godet, A cet effet, un doigt 105 (figurée 2 et 4), qui coulisse verticalement dans un guide 106 solidaire de la charpente de la machine, est appuyé, contre le fond du godet par une came 107 de profil convenable solidaire d'un axe 108 qui tourillonne horizontalement dans un bloc 109 éga lement solidaire de la charpente;

<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>
<Desc/Clms Page number 14>

The precise angular positioning of the plate 21 is ensured by an elastic locking device constituted by a bolt 37 (FIG. 6) housed in a radial hole 38 of said plate and pushed by a spring 39, against the socket. outer cylindrical face of the box 13 which has, for this purpose, four longitudinal grooves, such as 41, regularly distributed over the periphery of said surface.
The indexing movement of the plate 21 is ensured, from the central main shaft 14 of the machine, by means of a system comprising a key 44 (figs 7 and 8) secured to a bush 45 fixed in the plate 21 by back screw 43, said key being intended to engage successively, during a certain time of each cycle, in one of the four notches, such as 46, made in a collar 47 of the shaft 14.
At rest, the key 44 is located just above the collar 47 and the plate 21 is biased upwards, in this position, by a return spring 48 (see -also Figure 6) whose lower end bears against the base of the box 13, and the upper end, against the lower face of the plate 21.
The key 44 can be temporarily engaged, during the time necessary for the execution of a quarter turn of the plate, in one of the aforementioned notches 46, by means of a cam 51 pinned to the main shaft 14 and which re- pushes the plate 21, downwards, by means of a pusher 52 slidably mounted in a ring 53 fixed on the Orne of the upper "U" shaped iron 8.

In each cycle, that is to say each time a cup of coffee is brewed, the main shaft 14 makes a plot revolution and the shape of the cam 51 is such that, during this revolution, the plate 21 is pushed down by cam 51, against spring 48, so that key 44 engages in one of notches 46 and the plate makes a quarter turn after which, cam 51 releases the pusher 52, so that the spring 48 causes the plate to suddenly retreat upwards, after a rotation of the latter by a quarter of a turn.
The four sets of cups are all identical and each of them, for example the bucket silt 28 (Figure 9) is constituted by a cylindrical bowl 61, a filter consisting of a circular grid 62 which rests on a shoulder. ment provided near the bottom of the bowl, an elastic seal made of rubber or equivalent material 63, of inverted .UN section threaded over the upper edge of the bowl, and finally an inner cylindrical ring 64 force-fitted into the bowl so as to keep in place both the seal 63 and the filter 62. -The bottom of the bowl 61 is pierced and provided with a pouring spout 65.
The station A (Figures 3 and 4) for receiving ground coffee is provided with a dispensing device 71 of any suitable conventional type, suitable for pouring, each time it is activated, a dose of ground coffee through a chute. 72 located just above well 26 ready to receive this dose.
This ground coffee dispenser is actuated, once per turn of the main amber 14, by means of a system which cohorts a finger 73 (FIG. 10) secured to the main shaft 14, a lever 74 (see also figure 4) integral with a sleeve 75 which pivots on an axis 76 integral with the upper "U" iron 8, said lev @ er 74 having an extension 77

intended to be hooked by the finger 73 during the rotation of this half, and a connecting rod 79, one of which extracted is articulated, at 81, on the free end of the lever 74, and the other end of which is articulated, , in 82,
on the free end of a lever 83 for actuating the distributor. of coffee powder 71.
In this embodiment, the ground coffee is introduced as a reserve into the dispenser 71.
The tamping station B (Figures 2 and 3) comprises an electromagnet 85 with a plunger 87, the rod of which, biased upwards by a spring 88, carries, at its lower end, a piston 89 of suitable diameter for enter 'the cup 27 which is at this station, to pack the ground coffee there.
The brewing station 0 is equipped with a water heater 101 (figures 2 to 4) in the example an electric heater fitted with a distribution solenoid valve 102 (figure 2) which ensures the flow of water. hot water under pressure in the cup 28 applied against a mouth 102 (figure 9) arranged at the lower part of the boiler 101 'and having an annular groove 103 in the bottom of which is pressed the seal 63 of the bucket. The cup assembly 28 is kept applied with strong, counter pressure. the mouth.
102 of the boiler to withstand the pressure of the water introduced into said bucket, For this purpose, a finger 105 (shown 2 and 4), which slides vertically in a guide 106 integral with the frame of the machine, is pressed against the bottom of the bucket by a cam 107 of suitable profile secured to a pin 108 which pivots horizontally in a block 109 also secured to the frame;

The washing station D (figures 2 and 4) is fitted with a small nozzle 121 shown on the outlet of an electro-valve 122 supplied directly with cold water by a pipe 124 connected to the pipe 125 d. pressurized water inlet to the machine.
The cold water inlet pipe to the water heater 101 has been indicated at 126 (FIG. 2).
The washing water and the used coffee fall into a tank 128 from where they are discharged through a pipe 129.
A container 132 (FIG. 2) contains a sugar syrup which is delivered by a pouring spout 133, directly into the cup 134 under the control of a solenoid valve 135.
The entire machine is housed in a cabinet 141 (Figure 1), the door 142 of which is provided with an apparatus 143 of any suitable conventional type, suitable for receiving a coin and closing momentarily when the passage of the part, an electrical contact such as contact 144 of a circuit of the type shown in FIG. 11, so as to initiate a cycle of operations for the supply of a cup of coffee.
In the diagram of FIG. 11, we find the electric water heater 101, the peroolation solenoid valve 102, the washing solenoid valve 122, the sugar syrup distribution solenoid valve 135, The coffee powder compacting electromagnet 86, and the main electric motor 16 with its reducer 15.
The current is supplied to the two input terminals 151,152. Electric water heater 101 is fed directly from these two terminals.

The output shaft 14 of the reducer of the electric motor 16 carries three cams, namely: a cam 154 for controlling the supply circuit of the main motor, a cam 155 for controlling the solenoid valves, and a cam 156 for controlling the solenoid valves. control of the tamping solenoid.
These three cams actuate, respectively, three electrical contacts 157, 158, 159. The machine also comprises a small auxiliary motor, control 163, with reduction gear, actuating a cam 164 for controlling a contact 165 which controls a contactor 166 controlling, in turn, a contactor 167 Ceu two contactors are bipolar and their contacts are; branches as shown in the diagram *
A push button 168 pierces, if desired, to actuate, for an additional time, 1 solenoid valve 102, so that the water ration can be increased if the quantity supplied automatically is considered insufficient. .
In the diagram, we still find the general water inlet pipe 125 ,, and the pipes 126 for water supply to the water heater, and 124 for water supply to the washing station. .
The operation of the machine is as follows: It is assumed that the machine is in working order and that cycles previously required to be carried out.
In these conditions if a coin is inserted into the apparatus 143, the contact 144 closes momentarily so that, simultaneously, the coil of the contactor 166 is energized and the auxiliary motor 163 starts to turn. contact 165 is held closed by cam 164, during a rotation of one revolution thereof, so that auxiliary motor 163 continues to be energized, even after opening of coin contact 144 , by the closed contact 166a of the contactor 166 and by the said contact 165. The temporary closure of the contact 166b ensures
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
powering the main motor 16 and the coil of the contactor 167 for a certain time.
The closing of the contact 167a of this contactor ensures the self-supply of the last oe, via the closed contact 157 until the execution of a complete revolution of the cam 154.
Main motor 16 also continues to be energized by contact 167a, even when contactor 166 ceases to be energized due to opening of contact 165 actuated by cam 164 at the expiration of its full turn.
The energization of the contactor 167 also ensures the opening of its contact 167b, so that the actuation of the button 168 becomes ineffective while the main motor
16 is in operation.
As soon as the main motor 16 starts, the cam 51 begins to lower the plate 21 and soon ensures the rotation of the latter by a quarter of a turn. The bucket that was at the tamping station! (and the coffee powder of which had been packed during the preceding cycle), therefore comes ae presented to the percolation station C, then the plate is raised, so that this cup is pressed strongly against the mouth 102 of the boiler by the finger 105, under the action of cam 107.
The box 155 mounted on the shaft 14 of the reducer of the main actor then actuates, by its first bump 155a of short length, the contact 158, so that the percolation solenoid valve 102 is actuated and the percolation valve 102 is actuated. hot water is sent under pressure from the boiler HERE on the ground cup contained in cup 29. The coffee powder is thus moistened and undergoes a first inflation.
When the first bump 155a of box 155 leaves the contact 158, Hot life stops this flowing and it starts to flow again under the action of the second bump 155b of said
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
cam * the predetermined dose of complete hot water is then sent into the cup and, after having passed through it, the coffee powder, it is varied in the cup, through the spout 65. The cam 154 now ensures the opening of the contact
157 and, consequently, the stopping of the * main motor 16. The coffee brewing cycle is terminated.
While the percolation water was distributed by the solenoid valve 102, the washing water was distributed, at station D, by the solenoid valve 122, so that the bucket, which was previously at the percolation and which has just been brought to the washing station is freed of the used coffee powder which it contained and it is washed under the effect of cold water under pressure projected by the spray head. 121. The used powder and the washing water are discharged through the tank 128 and the pipe 123.
On the other hand, after the plate has pivoted a quarter turn, and the parco- lation operation has started, the cam 56 has opened, for a certain time, the contact 159, so that the compacting electromagnet 86, no longer being excited during this time, ensures the compacting of the coffee powder in the previous cup.
Finally, the excitation of the solenoid valve 135, connected in parallel to the washing solenoid valve 122, ensured the distribution of the dose of sugar syrup in the cup 134 during the flow of coffee at the peroolation station. .
If the user considers the quantity of water poured into the cup insufficient, he has the option of pressing the push button 168 so as to ensure, during the time he presses this button, the excitation of the. solenoid valve
102 for distributing hot water, through the contact 167b then closed.

The electrical characteristics of the assembly are such that the output shaft of the auxiliary motor reducer 163 rotated in good weather. stroke shorter than that during which the output shaft 14 of the reducer of the main motor 16 makes its own. In this way, after execution of a complete cycle, the cam 164- - of the auxiliary motor is still in the correct position to largely ensure the start of a new cycle.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and represents which has been given by way of example, many modifications can be made to it. like according to the applications envisaged without departing, for this, from the scope of the invention.
