"Filter comprising two filtering elements united in the same box.
The present invention relates to a filter comprising: a filter element mounted in a main stream and a filter element mounted in a bypass stream, united in a unitary or monobloc assembly, for the filtration of lubricating oil. In this filter, the two concentric filter elements are arranged in a ,? frame, joint made up of:
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
vertical perforated tube * and terminal sealing discs, a cavity being provided for the filter elements for the passage of a part of the liquid to be filtered which can then flow outwards through orifices made in one at least of the terminal discs, the outer filter element forming a first filter with a large surface, for example in the form of a star, while the inner filtering element consists of a fine and compact filter carrying out filtration push.
In this composite filter, the lubricating oil coming from the oil pan passes in each circuit, through the first filter element, placed outside, then separates, after passing through this filter element, in a main stream. arriving directly from this first filter element at the points to be lubricated and in a bypass stream, passing through the fine push-acting filter element, and then returning to the oil pan.
This filter is intended to be used in place of systems comprising a main stream mounted filter and a bypass mounted filter separated from each other and housed in cumbersome double housings. It can, thanks to its very simple construction and its very economical manufacture, serve as a "lost" filter, that is to say which can be discarded after use.
According to another particularity of the subject of the invention, each of the two filter elements is arranged between two vertical perforated tubes, maintained in their relative position by means of annular terminal covering discs, adapted at their ends by engagement of profiles. corresponding, at least one of these discs being provided with passage orifices at the location of the cavity formed between the filtering elements. A rigid composite filter is thus obtained, of very economical manufacture, which can be inserted in a very simple in the pipes of an engine -

and can be dismantled in the same way. @
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the filter.
object of the invention, the two perforated vertical tubes delimiting the space occupied by the filter element mounted in the main stream are joined by a layer of plastic material connecting the edges or edges of the annular terminal cover discs.
Another peculiarity of the shutter of the invention followed: the annular cover discs have grooves serving, on the one hand, to keep the tubes vertical, and on the other hand, to keep the two filter elements apart. one of the other.
In the known manner, there may be provided on each annular covering disc an annular seal support held by a fold.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of non-limiting example, a possible embodiment of the object of the invention.
The single figure is a view half in elevation and half in longitudinal body of a composite filter according to the invention.
The new "lost" filter, object of the invention, is constituted by a first external filter element 1 with a large surface, constituted for example by a filter element folded in a star, interposed in the main stream, and by a fine filter element 2 , arranged concentrically inside the first filtering element, consisting of ooton, coconut or similar type fibers and interposed in a derivative stream.
Between the first outer filter element and the outer fine filter element there is a cavity 3.
The first external filter element 1 is held between two vertical perforated tubes 4 and 1 and is connected to them

The lining 2 of the fine filter element is placed between vertical perforated tubes 10 and 11. A fine filter cloth 12 may be provided between the tube 11 and the packing 1.

The annalary discs 6 and 2 * continued by sheet metal and are shaped so as to apply to the outside of the tube 4, to the inside of the tube 2 and furthermore to both sides of the tube 10 and on the outside of the tube 11. A groove 13 and a passage opening 14 are also provided in the sheets.
The upper disc 6 has two tabs cut from this disc for receiving the ends of a gripping element 16.
To each of the terminal discs 6 and 1 is connected by venne in the corresponding profila engagement, for example by folding, a ring 17 for retaining an annular seal 18.
The details of realization can be modified without departing from the invention, in the field of technical equivalences.
