<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The object of the present invention is a gas radiator which is particularly suitable for constituting an independent heating appliance, mobile and exhibiting great operating safety thanks both to the nature of the burner used and to the organization of the radiator.
The gas radiator according to the invention consists essentially of a cabinet, mounted on rolling elements serving as housing for a reserve of heating gas such as a butane gas cylinder and comprising at the front a heating device. comprising a gas burner, equipped with reflectors and fitted with a protective grid, the heating device being separated from the gas reserve by several insulating air spaces preventing dangerous heating of the gas reserve and at the same time ensuring heating the ambient air by convection.
The present invention also relates to a gas burner of the type with injector and with a combustion rail for equipping gas heating appliances, and in particular radiators using butane gas.
The gas burners of this type known until now are composed of an injector of complicated manufacture in which the gas must mix with the air before being projected into the intake duct to which the injector is attached by screwing and from there into the mixing chamber inside the combustion ram.
The combustion ramp is generally made up of tubes connected in series to one or more supply manifolds, and pierced with very close orifices, fitted or not with special nozzles so that the flame can gradually gain all the holes in the combustion chamber. ramp during ignition. These
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
orifices that are too narrow are easily clogged with dust or unburnt particles, and the combustion efficiency suffers despite the periodic cleaning required. On the other hand, if an orifice is blocked, the ignition chain is frequently interrupted, and toxic gases emanate through the non-ignited holes, which can cause explosions.
We obviously thought of enlarging the holes of the rail or replacing them with lights, but it is always necessary to add a device for channeling the gas flow for chain ignition. In addition, no device is provided for improving the air draft for good combustion in order to avoid the formation of carbon monoxide which is toxic to the organism.
The present invention overcomes these drawbacks by allowing both sufficient air entrainment for good combustion, and instantaneous and foolproof ignition of the manifold with practically unobstructed orifices.
To this end, the combustion ramp of a burner according to the invention comprises inclined or straight slots notched in a portion of its wall and sufficiently wide to be practically unobstructed while ensuring good combustion. These slits are distributed so as to form at least one continuous line, and in particular they are placed end to end along at least one continuous broken line.
Such an orientation of the slots and of the gas jets allows instantaneous propagation of the flame from a pilot placed at any point on the ramp during ignition.
The combustion ramp has a relatively large internal volume constituting a mixing chamber for gas and air adjoining an intake duct which is
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
open to the air in order to obtain maximum air draft.
Finally, the gas supply device, also placed in the open air, has a double capillary injector which allows high-speed pure gas jets carrying with them sufficient air in the intake duct to ensure good combustion at any operating speed.
The invention will be better understood by referring to the following description and to the appended drawing in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a mobile gas radiator.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of a gas burner.
The gas radiator shown in Figure 1 consists essentially of a parallelepipedal body in enamelled sheet 1, mounted on swivel casters 2, closed at the rear by a door 3 and intended to receive a reserve of heating gas such as 'a bottle of butane gas. A hinged cover 4 makes it easy to operate the safety valve attached to this type of bottle. An external operating button 5 controls a valve 6 interposed in the pipe connecting the gas cylinder to the burner so as to regulate the gas flow.
The heating device located at the front of the body 1 comprises a gas burner generally referenced by the number, 7, a comb-shaped part 8 disposed above the burner 7 and the teeth of which are made bright red. . during fonotonnement and a plate 9, aluminum for example, serving as a reflector. These different elements are fixed to the front of the body 1 by interposing different plates @
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
of sheets 10 kept spaced apart from one another by means of refraotaires spacers.
In this way, several lamellar spaces-11 separate the body 1 from the heating device thus avoiding dangerous heating of the gas cylinder and at the same time providing passages through which the air circulates from bottom to top thus ensuring the diffusion of part of the calories available by convection.
The heating device is covered by a cover 12 fixed by means of tabs on the plate 10 closest to the body 1 so as to leave a gap between the body 1 and the cover 12. This cover 12 has at its base holes d air inlet 13 and its upper part of the lateral air outlet openings 14. An opening / 15 allows the ignition of the radiator. The front of the cover consists of a protective grid 16.
The burner referenced 7, of a new type, has been shown in detail in FIG. 2. It comprises a gas supply device, composed of a gas supply pipe 21 welded to a nut 22 made integral with 'a gas chamber 23 provided with a double capillary injector 24. The assembly is fixed by means of a lock nut 25 on a fastening lug 26 integral with an intake duct 27 for the air mixture. -gas. The injectors 24 are arranged outside the inlet orifice 28 of this duct and substantially in the axis of the latter.
The duct 27 consists of a bent cylindrical tube open to the air at one of its ends and attached by the other to the central portion 29 of a combustion ramp 30. This ramp is itself. even consisting of a long cylindrical tube which, in a particular case, may be about 30 om long and 2 cm in diameter, closed at its ends $
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
and comprising on the entire wall opposite to portion 29 and between two generatrices of the cylinder wide practically unobstructed slots 31, notched in zig-zag way in the wall along a continuous broken line interrupted internally only at the corners.
This device forms a one-piece assembly which can be attached to the heating apparatus shown in FIG. 1 by fastening tabs 32, screwed to both ends of the ramp 30.
The combustible gas introduced through the pipe 21 into the gas chamber 23 is injected through the capillary tubes 24 into the inlet pipe 27 through the orifice 28. The air entrained by the jet of gas exiting the The injector 24 mixes with the gas in the mixing chamber inside the ramp 30, before flowing out through the slots 31. Thanks to the special orientation of the jets, ignition is no longer a problem, and a single pilot or match placed at one end of the fuel rail 30 is sufficient to impart instantaneous and complete ignition.
On the other hand, the efficiency of the air draft obtained thanks to the combination of the suitably enlarged notches and the intake port 8 wide open to the open air, ensures complete combustion of the gas without any forma - tion of toxic carbon monoxide.
In addition, given the length of the slots 11, the in-. clogging and obstruction of the orifices of the combustion manifold by accumulation of waste and dust are avoided at the same time as the dangerous fumes of unburned gases and the risk of explosions.
Of course, the invention is in no way limited to the exemplary embodiments which have just been described and which are shown in the drawing.
