<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The present invention relates to one type of projector and is primarily, although not exclusively, applicable to those employed in the motion picture industry, the television industry and the theater.
Projectors of the type in question make use of bulbs of extremely high wattage, in some cases up to 20 kw, and it is therefore desirable to remove at intervals the deposit formed on the internal surface of the glass bulb. The bulbs are therefore provided with crystals of tungsten which, when
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
carefully spin them inside the bulb, remove this deposit; it is obvious, however, that before this operation can be performed, the projector bulb must be removed from the projector housing.
Previously, it was necessary to dismantle part of this projector casing, so that the bulb could be extracted therefrom. In a film studio, these projectors are often mounted in galleries placed high above the stage and it is therefore necessary, when removing the projectors, to rotate them in order to be able to remove the lenses and extract them. the bulb. However, these projectors are initially located with great precision, so that the light falling on the plate is evenly balanced and it is therefore very impractical to change their position for cleaning the bulbs.
The present invention has been conceived with a view to providing a projector of the aforesaid type, the bulb of which is easily accessible and whose position must not be changed when the bulb is removed for cleaning and it therefore consists of a projector, the bulb of which is mounted on a carriage capable of protruding out of the housing of the projector to a sufficient extent to allow easy removal and replacement of the bulb.
The invention also consists of a projector according to the previous paragraph, in which the carriage is moved by a predetermined angle as the carriage protrudes from the rear of the projector housing.
The invention also consists of a projector according to the preceding paragraph, in which the carriage comprises protuberances which fit into and move in channels, channels which are formed in the projector housing and which regulate the movement. angular element of the carriage.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The invention also consists of a projector according to any of the preceding paragraphs, in which the rear of the projector housing is mounted on the protruding carriage.
The invention also consists of a projector which is substantially as described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
In order to implement the invention according to a suitable embodiment, as shown in the appended schematic drawing, the bulb 1 of a projector is mounted on a carriage 2. The carriage 2 3 is carried by quarry 4 of the housing. projector 3. The carriage 2 carries rollers 5 on its corners adjacent to the bulb 1; these rollers slide in channels 6, formed in the projector housing 3. As these drawings show, these channels form approximately an angle of 20 with the base of the housing 3. A member 7 pivots at 8 on the carriage 2 and slides in an intermediate member 9 which is in turn mounted on rollers (not shown) which slide in an external channel 10 formed in the casing 3.
A handle 11 is provided which rotates a screw 12 carrying a nut 13 rigidly connected to the member 7 by a connecting rod 14. A stop 15 is provided on the screw 12, so that the outward movement of the cart is limited.
To protrude the carriage, the handle 11 is rotated in the appropriate direction and the member 7 moves correspondingly and pulls the carriage out of the housing. As the cart 2 comes out of the housing 3, the rollers 5 move upwards in the channels 6, which causes the cart to tilt around the pivot 8. When the cart protrudes sufficiently, the bulb 1 can do so. be removed for cleaning and then returned; the handle 11 is then rotated in the opposite direction, so that the carriage 2 withdraws into the casing 3.
It should be noted that the mechanism: constitutes a simple and safe means of extracting the bulb 1 from the casing 3, without changing
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the position of the latter. The inclination of the channels 6 is such that the top of the bulb does not touch the roof of the housing 3 during the protrusion of the carriage out of the housing 3.
Any desired modifications can be made to the device to suit specific requirements.
