<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The present invention relates to an improvement to the hinge for a metal door which is the subject of Belgian patent no. 543,653 of December 15, 1955.
The hinge, according to the latter Belgian patent, comprises two elements, one of which is intended to form part of the doorframe, while the other, which forms part of the door, is pivotally mounted on the first, this hinge comprising a spring means formed of two telescopic elements, such as cylindrical cups, filled with a lubricating agent and comprising internally and between their bottoms, an elastic means, such as a coil spring, this spring means being mounted pivoting, by

one end, on an axis of the door element, while its other end is mounted to pivot about an axis of the door element,
the latter axis itself being designed to be able to move along an arc of circumference having as its center the pivot point of the door element on the chamber element.
According to the present improvement, the bottom of the telescopic elements is joined by a small duct to the housing that each of these telescopic elements has for one of the pivot axes of the spring means, so that each housing, and consequently the 'axis it contains are regularly lubricated by the lubricating agent contained in the telescopic elements.
Other details and features of the present improvement will emerge from the following description and from an examination of the appended drawing.
The figure shows the hinge of the main patent, provided with the improvement according to the present patent. this figure being a partially sectional view.
Corame explained in the main patent, the hinge. shown comprises a first element 1, intended to be fixed to the doorframe, and a second element 3, forming part of a door not shown, the hinge being shown in the door open position.
The door element 3 is mounted to pivot = tent on the doorframe element 1 by means of a pivot pin 4.
On the two elements 1 and 3 are also provided pins 5 and 6 between which is mounted a spring means formed of two telescopic cups 7 and 8 comprising, internally and between their bottoms, a spring 11, these cups being folded in a lubricating agent. The cups 7 and 8 are mounted 'by their' base on the respective axes 5 and 6.
In the bottom of each bowl 7 and 8, there is provided a small duct 12 connecting these bowls to the housings 13 of the axes
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
corresponding 5 and 6. In this way, the inside of the cups 7 and 8, containing 1 t lubricating agent, will therefore be in constant contact with the housings 13 comprising the axes 5 and 6. It will be easily understood that each movement of the door, the cups 7 and 8, sliding one on the other., compress the spring and allow a small quantity of lubricating agent to penetrate into the ducts 12 which comes into contact with the pins 5 and 6.
This lubrication prevents any operating squeaking and seizing.
It should of course be understood that the invention is not limited to the precise embodiment shown, but that many variations can be provided without departing from the scope of the present patent.
