<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
FORME D'EXECUTION I (Fig. 1).
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
FORME D'EXECUTION III (Fige 3).
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
FORME D'EXECUTION V (Figo 5).
FORME D'EXECUTION VII (Fig. 7).

In oil heating installations, it is known to fit in the pipe going from the oil pump to the burner nozzle a piston servo motor acting on the throttle or air throttle valve. oxidizer and provided with an oil inlet in the front wall and an oil outlet in the surface of the mantle, the oil outlet being established so as to be kept closed by the spring piston of the servo -motor as long as the air throttle valve is not fully open.
It is also known to provide the piston of the servomotor with a passage hole the cross section of which is notably smaller than that of the inlet so that when the inlet of oil to the pump is closed, the piston can push the spring back and close the air throttle valve, the oil below the piston then passing through the drilled hole in the piston on the upper face of the piston.
The last-mentioned arrangement has the disadvantage that the chamber located on the upper face of the piston fills with oil, which is pushed back by the movement of the piston under the action of the pressure of the oil in the piston. 'mouthpiece, and this already before the air choke valve can open, which can give rise to the formation of a dangerous explosive mixture of oil and air'.
In addition, it is known to establish in the pipe going from the pump to the cylinder of the servomotor a large branch which returns to the oil container.
In this branch is a valve which is set in such a way that a thermostat under the influence of the boiler temperature can act there so that the valve opens when the boiler temperature exceeds the temperature. desired value and that it closes 'when' this temperature drops below this desired value.
As soon as the valve closes, the oil pressure under the piston rises, so that the piston first opens the throttle valve and then admits oil to the burner nozzle. . When the valve opens the pressure of the dirty oil piston falls so that the latter is pushed back under the pressure of the spring and thus first closes the oil inlet to the burner nozzle and then the valve combustion air throttling
This device works great, but it requires the oil pump to run continuously or at least be turned on before the valve is closed. In addition, the device is quite complicated and consists of at least two parts which are connected to each other by pipelines.
The present invention relates to an oil regulator which consists of a single part and comes into operation automatically as soon as the oil pump is switched on or off, without any quantity of oil reaching the burner before the throttle valve is fully open
The device consists of a hydraulic piston servo motor, the piston rod of which is arranged in such a way that it opens and closes the combustion air throttle valve, and the bottom of the cylinder is pierced with 'an opening connected to the delivery line of the oil pump, while the body is provided at a distance from the bottom with an opening which is connected to the burner nozzle and is arranged in such a way that it is closed by the piston as soon as it is pushed back by the spring,
when the pump is switched off.
The device is characterized in that the space between the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
piston and the bottom of the cylinder of the servomotor communicates by an opening of a passage cross-section notably smaller than that of the delivery pipe, with a return pipe to the oil tank,
The present invention is described below with reference to the drawings of which FIGS. 1 to 7 show, all in longitudinal section, seven different embodiments of a regulator according to the invention.
EXECUTION FORM I (Fig. 1).
In cylinder 1 there is a piston 2 which slides therein and ensures the seal, whose rod 3 passes through a cylinder base 4 fixed to cylinder 1 and is arranged so as to act on a butterfly or throttle valve. - ment of the combustion air, not shown here, in such a way that it opens this valve when the piston 2 moves towards the cylinder base 4 and closes it when the piston 2 moves in the opposite direction. In the opposite front wall 5 of cylinder 1 there is an inlet pipe 6 which is connected to the discharge line 8 of the heating oil pump 7.
An opening 9, the passage section of which is appreciably smaller than that of the inlet pipe 6, is provided in the same end wall of the cylinder or in the delivery pipe 8 of the oil pump 7 and is connected to a pipe return valve 10 from the heating oil tank 11.
An opening 12 which is connected by a pipe 13 to the burner 14 is formed in the body of the cylinder 1 at a certain distance from the front wall 5 of the latter.
The piston rod 3 is provided with a shoulder 21 at such a distance from the end face 15 of the piston 2 that this shoulder 21 strikes the bottom 4 of the cylinder when this face 15 of the piston 2 is open. ture 12, that is to say at the edge of the latter located on the side of the cover 4 of the cylinder.
Between the bottom 4 and the piston 2 is a compression spring 16.
Next to the bottom 4, an opening 17 is made in the cylinder body and is connected by a pipe 16 to the heating oil tank 11.
It has been found that it is advantageous to establish a check valve 20 in the discharge line 8 of the heating oil pump.
The device works as follows:
When the heating oil pump 7 comes into action, the piston 2 occupies its lower position and keeps the fuel air throttle valve closed, so that cold air cannot sweep these hot surfaces. .
The communication between the oil pump 7 and the burner nozzle 14 is also closed by the piston 2.
Therefore, as soon as the pump 7 has come into action, it delivers oil through the opening 6 into the cylinder 1, so that the piston 2 is pushed back against the action of the spring 16 from the bottom. up to the bottom 4 of the cylinder.
Under these conditions, the piston rod 3 first acts on the throttle valve so as to open the latter, so that the air from the system fan passes into the combustion chamber.
When the throttle valve is fully open, piston 2 opens; the communication between the pump 7 and the burner 14, so that combustion begins.
The pump output must be large enough so that part of the oil always passes through a circulation pump established in or near pump 7 and adjusted to the desired oil pressure, and so that another quantity of oil passes through the opening to reach the reservoir
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
oil 11 through line 10.
As soon as the pump 7 is stopped, the piston 2 is brought back by the spring 16 against the bottom 5 of the cylinder, the oil which is in the cylinder 1 flowing through the opening 9.
The piston 2 then first masks the opening 12 connected to the burner nozzle 14, after which the piston rod 3 closes the throttle valve.
The oil which has passed through the piston 2 is returned through the opening 17 and the pipe 18 into the oil tank 11.
EXECUTION FORM II (Fig. 2).
This embodiment differs from the previous one I in that the opening 9 is in communication with the space located behind the piston 2 by a longitudinal duct 10 formed in the body of the cylinder and that this duct 10 is also arranged in such a way that it is closed by the peripheral surface of the piston 2 when the latter unmasks the opening 12 connected to the burner, and that it is open when the piston 2 closes the opening 12.
The space behind the piston 2 is - as has been said above - in communication with the oil reservoir 11 through the opening 17 and the duct 18.
The duct 10 can also be executed so as to form a groove or a notch in the surface of the body of the cylinder 1.
EXECUTION FORM III (Fig 3).
In embodiment II, it has been found that it is desirable to be able to adjust the distance between the two end surfaces 15 and 19 of the piston 2, since difficulties are encountered when one always wants to have the orifice 22 at the bottom. same distance from the opening i'àK "Fig. 3 shows an example of execution of such a piston.
This is divided transversely into two parts 2 and 23, part 23 of which is provided on the side facing part 2 with a central screw which engages in the threaded hole 25 in the center of part 2.
The part 23 is provided in the front face 15 facing the bottom cover 5 of the cylinder with an oval or non-circular central recess 26 in which a key can be inserted through the opening 6, to rotate the part 23 relative to to the part 2. In the part 23 is disposed eccentrically a screw 27 parallel to the axis, which crosses it from one face to the other and whose tightening makes it possible to lock the two parts 23 and 2 together. so as to prevent them from rotating relative to each other.
To compensate for the influence of variations in the length of the piston 2, 23 on its limit positions, a screw 28 is placed in the bottom wall 4 of the cylinder, arranged in such a way that it limits the movement of the shoulder 21 towards the outside. .
EXECUTION FORM IV (Fig. 4).
This embodiment differs from embodiment II in that the duct 10 is arranged in such a way that it opens into the front wall 4 of the cylinder, its orifice 22 being closed by the shoulder 21 when the latter meets end wall 4.
The length of the piston 2 between the shoulder 21 and the face 15 turned towards the cover 4 of the bottom of the cylinder is determined such that this face 15 is located at the opening 12, that is to say on the edge of the cylinder. the latter furthest from the bottom 5, when the shoulder 21 strikes the end wall 4 of the cylinder and thus closes the orifice 22.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
EXECUTION FORM V (Figo 5).
This embodiment differs from that of FIG. 2 in that the duct 10 is so arranged that it opens into a recess 39 formed in the wall of the cylinder or of the front wall 4 so as to surround the rod 3 of the piston concentrically, and in which is disposed a bulge 30 of the piston rod 3 outside the shoulder 21, and so as to fit into the recess 9 in a sealed manner and close the orifice 22 of the duct 10.
EXECUTION FORM VI (Fig. 6).
. This embodiment differs from the first I in that the space between the piston 2 and the bottom 5 of the servomotor cylinder 1 communicates with the space located on the rear face of the piston 2 via a duct 10. formed in the piston rod 3 from the front face 15 of the piston 2, and an opening 9, the passage cross section of which is notably smaller than that of the delivery pipe 8, this rear space communicating through an opening 17 with a line 18 going to the heating oil tank 11. Further, the orifice 22 of the opening 9 is on the shoulder 21 of the piston rod 3 and is arranged in such a way that it is closed by an elastic gasket 31 arranged between the shoulder 21 and the cylinder cover 4 when the piston 2 has opened the opening 12 connected to the nozzle of the burner 14.
EXECUTION FORM VII (Fig. 7).
This embodiment differs from the previous VI in that the orifice 22 of the duct 9 is located on the cylindrical surface of the piston rod 3 and is arranged in such a way that it is closed off by the wall of the bore formed for the piston rod in the cylinder cover 4, when the shoulder 21 meets it.
Although only seven embodiments of the installation have been described and shown above, it is obviously possible to design others without departing from the scope of the invention.
