<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The present invention relates to a streamlined frame for bicycles, mopeds, mopeds, scooters and motorcycles making it possible both to release the fairing of variable shapes from its tensions and to concentrate the efforts on this rigid frame made of sheet metal or metal tubes which are connected. in one or in various parts to the central part of the vehicle forming a tank or not, up to the vehicle steering unit.
In general, various types of faired chassis have already been recommended to make a vehicle more solid than ordinary and in addition to a special aesthetic.
Practice shows, however, that the user does not always follow the manufacturer's point of view with regard to the design of the shape of the entire rear part of the vehicle that he wishes to adopt for a given vehicle.
It is therefore necessary to provide, in order to satisfy
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
customers, at least every year, new shapes, which is extremely costly because each model requires new manufacture.
The invention, apart from the novelties, from the point of view of liberation and concentration of forces, therefore aims at a design allowing the adaptation on the same new frame, various shells, that is to say a single part to have various machine executions.
In the accompanying drawing is shown by way of example an embodiment of the invention.
Fig.l gives in elevation a rigid frame, the rear fairing being alone mounted.
Fig.2 shows in elevation the rear fairing consisting of two shells.
Fig. 3 shows a section on 1-1 of Fig. 2.
According to the embodiment shown in the drawing, the rear part of the frame consists of a more or less horizontal beam 1, folded over its front part 1 'to descend more or less vertically downwards.
At its lower part is provided an attachment system 2 of the engine and the device for rotating the rear linkage. This system can be made in one piece or not with the articulation system of the rear axle, be welded to the vertical or articulated beam.This 1-1 'beam is made in one piece with the front part 3 of the frame, either by extension or by welding or soldering whatever, regardless of whether this front part 3 acts as a reservoir, as a support? tank or not.
The more or less horizontal beam 1 contains one, two or no saddle support 4, depending on the number and the quality of seats desired by the customers.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
This 1-1 ′ beam, tubular or not, or simply of any section, supports the weight of the conductor (s) and possibly the luggage.
At one point, of this beam 1-lt is provided the articulation axis 5 of the rear shock absorbers and from this point or these surroundings start on either side two shrouds 6, the ends of which possibly join the footrests for the second person.
These shrouds 6, also tubular oron, are only connected to each other at their upper part and that by means of the part 5 or 1; they constitute the link with the fairing and with the side casings of the vehicle and are based on a tubular cross member 7 extending from the upper end of the upper beam 1 to the lower part of the vertical part 1 '.
This rigid assembly can contain a toolbox or even a fuel tank made accessible through the fairing.
The soundproofing and sealing of the rear fairing with respect to the toolbox is done by synthetic tape applied or glued to the edge of said tray.
The rear fairing 8 is formed by two metal shells, or of synthetic material, connected together by welding.
These two symmetrical parts formed by a stamping or molding operation constitute the interchangeable and modifiable assembly to the tastes and wishes of the customers.
At its upper part, this bodywork is pierced with 1 or more passage holes for the saddle supports.
The front line 9 of this body 8 is a vertical inclining a little from bottom to top, towards the front of the vehicle,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The radius 10 to connect this line 9 with the horizontal line, more or less equal the width of the two shells at this location 11 from which the radius starts. This same line then always runs horizontally towards the rear of the vehicle up to the point 12 sitms approximately in the middle of the upper part of this body, that is to say approximately in the middle of the two holes. any saddle.
From this point, this line starts down slightly with respect to the horizontal and to join at 13 the start of an arc of a circle whose radius is about a quarter of the diameter of the wheels.
This line 9-12-13 does not give the impression of going around the rear wheel of the vehicle.
At 14, a new curvature begins, but the opposite and of even smaller radius than previously, 'to end at point 15 located at least 5 cm away. of the rear tire of the fitted vehicle.
This 9-12-13-14 curve is not arbitrary but gives the whole machine its slender character and can be modified, and is always constituted by two inner curvatures and one outer curvature.
The fairing at point 11 has its maximum thickness and gradually decreases in thickness towards its rear part. The visible edges are made directly in the manufacturing equipment to give this body its rigidity.
This body can contain the shock absorbers or be contained between them and withstands practically no force due to the weight of the driver, to the pressure or to the torsion of the shock absorbers, to the traction of the chain, or to the internal tensions of the vehicle itself.
The luggage rack forms a link between this body and the chassis, and is linked to it at approximately points 14 and 15 and by
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
an oblique tube it descends towards the shrouds to which it is attached on both sides.
The 9-12-13-14-15 line is perfectly matched by the possible two-seater saddle which it attaches to the upper articulation of the shock absorbers and is supported by two points 4 on the frame and through the holes provided for its supports , allowing no direct contact of this saddle on the bodywork in question.
This novelty eliminates any metal deformation, any distortion, any vibration, any tearing and ensures great durability of this rear fairing.
The support points before and after part 5 do not constitute a metallic contact, but the latter is isolated and. soundproof.
By examining Figure 1 it can be seen that an adaptation of a slightly modified fairing allows the construction of a new model by changing only this part of the vehicle. This process is applied in automobile construction where the The same problem of model variation arises annually and where the manufacture of new tools must be reduced to the minimum possible.
This fairing described above is normally placed vertically on the chassis to ensure its assembly but can also be placed by applying the two shells, one right and the other left on either side of the vehicle and this in the case where it is not formed by two shells welded to one another. '
The invention has been described and illustrated purely as an indication and in no way limiting, and it goes without saying that many. its modifications can be made to its details without departing from its mind.
