<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The present invention relates to a process for the permanent deformation of cold hair and. lukewarm, in which the hair is treated with a perm / deformation composition containing a keratin reducer and in which the hair is treated after deformation, with a neutralizing agent to restore the cystine bridges.
By "permanent deformation" of the hair is meant both the formation of permanent waves and the elimination or reduction of existing waves, for example frizzy black hair.
In the known methods for the permanent deformation of the hair, solutions containing a peroxide, for example hydrogen peroxide or else a persalt such as a perborate, or even oxygen in the air, are used as neutralizing agent. atmospheric.
The object of the present invention is to significantly reduce the time required to carry out the lukewarm or cold permanent-set process.
In the process according to the invention, after having reduced the cystine bridges of keratin by subjecting the hair to a composition containing a reducing agent such as for example an alkali compound, a soluble sulphite of alkali and ammonia, a sulphide, a mercaptan, the hair is treated with ozone as a neutralizing agent.
It has been noticed that ozone, mainly in a humid environment, acts rapidly on the sulf-hydril-SH-SH- bonds of keratin to bring them back to the state of disulfide -S-S- bond.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
ozone can be applied to the hair by various known means, for example by means of a helmet provided with means which release ozone, or by means of a vaporizer containing ozone .
A further subject of the present invention is novel compositions for the permanent deformation of the hair.
Hitherto known compositions for permanent deformation containing at least one keratin reducing agent and an agent which is sparingly soluble in water greedy for oxygen in the ambient air, such as terpene materials, for example an essential oil, a pure terpene, for example from lemon, orange, bergamot, This oxygen-hungry agent has the power to accumulate oxygen in the air and release it, after the reduction of keratin and the - Removal of the reducing agent from the sulfhydril bonds -SH-SH- to bring them back to the disulfide-SS- state.
According to the invention, these compositions additionally contain ozone.
The inventor has found that these oxygen-hungry agents had the power to accumulate a certain quantity of ozone and to restore it to the keratin during the elimination of the reducing agent, by rinsing the hair with hot water. . @
At this time, the oxidation of the sulfhydrule bonds by ozone occurs at the same time as the neutralization of the hair. The presence of the reducing agent and of the neutralizing agent in the same composition makes it possible to carry out permanent deformations of the hair more quickly than the methods known hitherto allow.
In addition, it avoids the use of products
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
different which facilitates its use.
The compositions for the deformations of the hair according to the invention are obtained for example by bubbling ozone in an oxygen-hungry agent such as carbon tetrachloride, a solution of essential oil, the rich terpenes, a pure terpene , an oxygenated derivative of terpene ,. in particular an alcohol, a ketone, an aldehyde, for example menthol, camphor. The oxygen-hungry agent more or less saturated with ozone is then introduced into a composition for the deformation containing a reducing agent such as, for example, a sulphide or a mercaptan: the compositions according to the invention advantageously contain surfactants. - non-ionic active ingredients which promote the fixation of ozone.
In addition, the presence of nonionic surfactants, for example, condensates of oxyethylene fatty alcohols in these compositions makes it possible to dissolve and emulsify the terpene materials so as to introduce them more easily into the solution containing the reducer. The following examples provide a better understanding of the constitution of the compositions for permanent deformation, according to the invention.

After 1/4 hour, the presence of 1.25 g of ozone was observed in this mixture.
Then 150 cc of this solution were mixed with 100 cc of nonionic surfactant and 750 cc of reducing solution.
'EXAMPLE 5. -

EXAMPLE 6.-
Ozone was bubbled through 125 cc of essential maritime pine oil for 1/4 hour. The accumulation of 0.90 g of ozone was observed. 100 cc of this mixture was added to 975 cc of a surfactant and added to 825 cc of a reducing solution.
EXAMPLE 7.-
Ozone was allowed to bubble for 1/4 hour in 125 cc of lavender essential oil. The presence of 0.55 g of ozone was observed in this mixture. Then, 25 cc of ozonized lemon essential oil, 25 cc of a nonionic surfactant and 950 cc of a reducing solution were mixed.
To obtain permanent waving using a composition according to the invention, the hair is wound on curlers and it is wetted with a composition according to the invention. The reducing agent present reduces the cystenic bridges of the keratin and forms-SH-SH bonds thus softening the hair and giving it the desired conformation. We pause for a while and then rinse the coiled hair with plenty of hot water to remove the reducing agent. We then unwind the curlers and rinse the hair again: unwound.
Virtually insoluble ozonized terpene materials remain on the hair and release ozone which oxidizes the sulfhydril-SH-SH- bonds back to the S-S disulfide state.
In order to remove the waves from the hair or reduce them using a composition according to the invention, the hair is impregnated with this composition; is the

comb for 5 to 20 minutes until partial or total disappearance of the crimp; tighten the hair on the head by means of a net and pause 5 to 30 minutes under a cap, a blow dryer or a device giving off steam. Finally, the hair is rinsed with hot water while combing it. For very frizzy and resistant hair the operation can be repeated at intervals of one week.
The use of ozone in compositions for the permanent deformation of the hair also has the advantage of eliminating the bad odors given off by the reducing agent and of disinfecting the ambient atmosphere in which the persons carrying out and undergoing the deformation treatment are located. hair.
It is obvious that the invention is not limited to the details given above and that many modifications can be made in the nature, the constitution and the proportions of the products envisaged without departing from the scope of the invention as it is. defined in the following claims.
