The present invention relates to central heating boilers with automatic burning. Its purpose is to allow significant fuel savings by reducing heat loss through the chimney;, between two periods of operation of the automatic burner.
To this end, according to the invention, the boiler is provided with a device controlled by the starting and stopping of the automatic burner for opening and automatically closing a register for evacuating combustion gases from the chimney. Opening the damper when the burner starts up allows the normal evacuation of the combustion gases. Its closure when the burner is stopped retains in the boiler the calories accumulated in the masonry and the metal thereof during the operation of the burner, preventing the very appreciable heat loss that occurs through the chimney when the draft does not occur. is not interrupted during burner shutdown periods.
Due to the heat build-up in the boiler, the burner shutdown periods are prolonged and the operating periods are spaced out, thus achieving the desired fuel economy.
The invention can be implemented in different ways, one of which, applicable to boilers burning fuel oil, will be described below by way of example, with reference to the appended drawing which schematically shows an oil burner and a device in accordance with the invention. to the invention for the automatic control of the combustion gas evacuation register of a central heating boiler heated by this burner
In the drawing, designates a hydraulic piston whose cylinder 2 is interposed in a pipe 3,
4 starting from the discharge 5 of the oil pump 6 and ending at the injector 7 of the oil burner 8 of which the pump 6 is a part. The suction 9 of the pump is connected to the oil tank 10, in which a pipe ends 11, with a magnetic valve 12, connected to the pipe 3 upstream of the cylinder 2. A movement transmission 13, 14 connects the hydraulic piston 1 to an evacuation register 15 of the combustion gases of the boiler, placed in the chimney 16 of it and normally closed.
When pump 6 of burner 8 is started, automatically controlled by thermostat in the usual way, the pump delivers the fuel oil in line 3 and cylinder 2. The fuel oil pressure lifts piston 1 which rises in the cylinder by opening the damper 15, until the piston discovers the orifice of pipe 4 through which the fuel oil reaches the injector 7 of the burner where it ignites and burns in the boiler As long as the burner is operating, the pressure of the fuel oil in the cylinder 2 keeps piston 1 up and hence register 15 open
When the thermostat stops pump 6;, the burner 8 goes out and the magnetic valve 12 opens, allowing the fuel oil filling cylinder 2 to flow through line 11 into tank 10.
The piston 1 de = ash by gravity or under the action of a return spring, and thus closes the damper 15 which prevents any heat loss from the boiler through the chimney 16 during the burner shutdown period 8
Alternatively, instead of being hydraulic, the control of the gas discharge damper is pneumatic and can use to actuate a pneumatic piston the air pressure of the blower of a liquid or solid fuel burner or the pressure. combustible gas in the case of a thermostatically controlled gas burner.
According to another variant, the control of the gas discharge damper is electric and takes place, for example, by the intervention of a relay and an electric servomotor which opens and closes the damper when starting and stopping. burner respectively.

The invention is therefore in no way limited to the embodiment which has been described and shown by way of example and it is susceptible to various modifications. It is applicable to both hot air boilers and hot water boilers.
