On fait passer de l'air dans le mélange par un disque fritté à la vitesse de 120 litres/heure, mesurée à la pression atmosphérique, pendant 31 heures.
Le produit est ensuite refroidi à 90 C et filtré pour éliminer le catalyseur. A ce filtrat, on ajoute assez d'acide sulfurique dilué pour rendre le mélange acide au papier indicateur Rouge Congo. 27 parties d'acide téréphtalique précipitent. Ce produit, après filtra- tion et séchage, est lavé à 1'acétone, ce qui donne 25 parties d'aci- de téréphtalique purifié.
