<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The present invention relates to improvements to the subject of Belgian Patent No. 544,048 of December 29, 1955 relating to a connection device, and an electric cable comprising two constituent parts of insulating material forming the body of the device and means for fixing the conductors of the cable to male or female elements making the contact, at least one of these fixing means being formed by at least a point on which. the driver pricks himself.
The male or female plugs produced according to the invention are intended to allow easy and rapid assembly of the conductors of a cable even by people who are not skilled in the art or who do not have manual skills.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
According to the invention, the connection device comprises a conductive metal part, part of which has at least the aforementioned fixing tip. and is intended to be embedded in one of the constituent parts of insulating material of the connection device, while the other part of this metal part is intended to form the mixed or female contact element.
In one embodiment, the conductive metal part is initially a flat part in a part of which is formed at least one fixing point, this part being intended to be bent to a desired transverse shape, for example in cup, to be inserted into an insulating component part of the device, a second part of the flat part being intended to be rolled up to the cylindrical shape to form a male or female contact element.
In the case of a male plug, the conductive metal part comprises a part having at least one fixing point and a second part arranged at the end of the first and intended to form the connection pin by winding, this second part having, for this purpose, preferably features of. longitudinal cutouts and end serrations, so as to form by winding a pin whose end is rounded and which has projecting side wall portions to ensure a good connection.
In the case of a female plug, the conductive metal part comprises a part having at least one fixing point and a second part attached to the first and intended to form the connection sleeve by winding.
According to a preferred embodiment, the conductive metal part has points of various lengths making it easy to prick therein conductors of different sections, without stripping them.
The conductive metal part will preferably be embedded during molding in one of the constituent parts of the connection device, said part possibly having for this purpose one or more
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
hanging elements, such as one or more tabs.
For fixing, in one of the component parts of the device is embedded in the molding a fast-pitch nut, into which is intended to screw a bolt passing through the other component part, assembly of said parts thus being rapid and easy, while ensuring the insertion of the conductors on the points on which they have been stitched.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description given below by way of non-limiting example and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is an elevational view of a plug according to the invention.
FIG. 2 shows the conductive metal part in the deployed position.
Figure 3 is a sectional view along the plane III-III of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a sectional view along the plane IY-IV of Figure 1.
The following description is given considering a male or pin plug as shown. It will be seen that the same characteristics can be applied to female plugs.
The means for attaching the driver and the contact pin or sleeve are formed integrally.
In FIG. 2, this part 1, which is metallic and conductive, is in the deployed or planar position. It comprises a part
2 and part 3. In part 2 a certain number of cutouts 4 are made which allow the formation of a corresponding number of points 5.
The second part 3 of the part 1 has longitudinal cut lines 6 and a lower serration 7. Between the two parts 2 and 3, there are also two cut lines.
8 and 9.
Part 2 is intended to fold along the longitudinal folds 10 and 11 to form a bowl 12, as can be
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
see it especially well in figure 4.
The slit 3 is intended to roll up into a cylinder to form the pins 13 of figures 1 and 3. The longitudinal cut lines 6 cause the formation of protruding tabs 14 ensuring a good connection during the insertion. pins in a socket or outlet. The serration 7 makes it possible to obtain a rounded end 15.
The metal part 1, thus shaped, is, dE. preferably, embedded in the molding in the constituent part 16 of the connection device. For this purpose, a mat 17 is in particular provided which will be embedded in the mass of the constituent part 16 which will also largely surround part 2 of the metal part 1, as can be seen in FIG. 4.
The metal part 1 will preferably include a certain number of points 5 of different lengths to allow the attachment of conductors of greater or lesser cross section, as shown diagrammatically in FIG. 1, where the references le, 19 and 20 respectively show conductors of 1.5 mm, 2 mm, and 2.5 to 3.5 mm, the latter figures being obviously illustrative, In other dulls, the plug or female will be suitable for conductors of various diameters.
The constituent part 21 of the connection device fits, in 2 / on the constituent part 16 and is fixed to the latter by a bolt 23, passing through the part 21 and screwing into a nut 24 embedded in the mass of part 16. The thread of this nut 24 and of the bolt 23 will preferably be of rapid pitch, so that the fixing is ensured with a minimum of rotation of the bolt 23. the head of the latter will have a groove. 25 allowing rotation by any royen, even a coin. No special tools will therefore be required to mount or dismantle this connection device.
During tightening, the constituent part 21 will be pressed against the part 16, which will push the conductors which have been pricked therein deeper into the tips 5. It is therefore not necessary
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
do not strip the conductors to make the connection since the tips 5 will necessarily come into contact with the internal metal part of these conductors.
If you want to make a female plug in the same way, it will suffice to provide part 3 of the metal part 1 next to part 2 and no longer at the end thereof, this metal part 1 being at again partially embedded in. the mass of the constituent part 16 of the connection device,
It should be understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described but that many variations are possible without departing from the scope of the present patent.
