<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

L'alimentation en air comprime peut être contrôlée en utilisant un robinet approprié éventuellement consti= tué par un organe qui écrase plus ou moins le tuyau souple 11. Au cas où l'on ne prévoit le jet d'air qu'au cours des opérations d'introucticn de la mèche, on peut prévoir de commander l'alimentation en même temps que tous les dispositifs de fausse torsion qui formeraient une batterie dans un métier à filer ou machine analogne;
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
multiple, c'est-à-dire progressive.
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
Il est bien entendu que le dessin annexé ne montre qu'un mode schématique de réalisation de l'invention, le= quel n'est donné qu'à titre d'exemple et peut se prêter à de de nombreuses variantes sans cependant sortir du cadre de l'invention. 6'est ainsi que le dispositif pneumatique de soufflage pourrait également comporter au moins une couronne de buses réparties tout autour d'une section de la conduite, cette ou ses couronnes étant alimentées par un collecteur annulaire approprié;

For the production of yarns from textile fibers, the rovings must be subjected to stretching before and / or after spinning, If the fibers are carded instead of combed, due to the irregularity of the fiber and its relatively short length, stretching can only be carried out if the wick is also subjected
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
to a twist, this one avoiding the breakage of the bit.
It is also known that, in order to achieve the stretching of the carded sliver in the continuous spinning processes,. and sometimes even before spinning by non-continuous processes, it is advisable to subject the wick, before it reaches the free span in which it is spun, a twist called false twist "because it is subsequently removed, ie canceled or lost. This false twist is produced along the path portion of the bit where the stretching takes place, ie along of the part of the path which is between a set of feed cylinders and a set of stretching cylinders, the peripheral speed of the seconds being greater than that of the former.
Several types of so-called false torsion devices are currently used, which all include or =. rotary ganes which tend to drive the wick by friction by subjecting it precisely to a rotation followed by a twist which takes place in an upstream direction. drive bodies and then in the opposite direction, until canceled, downstream of these bodies. In general, these lend themselves with difficulty to the operations of threading the wick both initially and in the event of breakage, and, moreover,. they are relatively bulky in a parallel direction
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the path of the bit; finally, the wick undergoes in these di = sposiotifs of the specific solicitations to initiate the rupture.
The object of the invention is to provide a faus = twist device in which virtually all of the drawbacks mentioned above are eliminated. To this end, from a functional point of view, a device of this type seems to lend itself more than similar devices to the realization of a false twist and, more particularly, to a multiple false twist of the wick, to namely, the operation which colsi = ste to subject the wick to a progressive stretching along successive parts of this wick, and to print to cha = that part a false twist so that the percentage of stretching obtained is much higher than by proceeding with a single stretching and false twisting phase.
In fact, for a specific size, it is easier to fit multiple false torsion devices having a small size; due to the increase in the number of false torsion devices, it becomes essential to facilitate the operation of threading the wick; finally, it is necessary to reduce as much as possible the breakages of the wick caused by the stresses imposed on it by the presence of the false torsion devices.
In a false torsion device made sui =

Before the invention, the rotary unit through which the bit spins comprises a passage with a curved axis which, at least in certain parts, moves away from the axis of rotation. Means are provided to facilitate the presentation of the wick at the entrance to this passage and other means facilitate the introduction of the wick.
Although the entire device can be rota = tif, it seems that in practice part of the path of the wick inside the device can be carried out in a fixed pipe or in any case between fixed walls. while the effect of rotation is imprinted only on the curved walls. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, there is provided, as fixed elements, on the one hand the bowl or the funnel which serves to facilitate the introduction of the wick into the device, and on the other hand the first part of the pipe tra = towards which the wick runs, the axis of this pipe @ being coincident with the axis of rotation de'la part curved = Vee and rotating pipe.
The curved and rotating part of the pipe can - be constituted by a single or double S, its length being more or less important; however, the outlet of the curved and rotating pipe is located in the axis of rotation.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The arrangement provided for in the terms of the invention allows to automatically perform the introduction of the wick using pneumatic means. Indeed, by performing an air blast of appropriate force, suitably r = gone and directed in the fixed and rotating parts of the pipe through which the wick must pass, a current is produced on the one hand which drives the wick, more precisely by suction of the wick delivered by the pair of feed cylinders or similar members, and on the other hand a delivery of the wick towards the outlet orifice, that is to say towards the pair of stretching cylinders or the like.
In practice,. at least one inclined orifice is provided in the fixed part of the pipe, the axis of which coicidal with that of rotation of the device, this orifice being connected to a source of compressed air, the flow rate and pressure of which are suitably adjusted or metered, and which can be isolated by any suitable control device if the pneumatic action must be limited to the operations of inserting the bit.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the invention.

after a rotation of 90 with respect to fig.l.
Fig. 3 shows the diagram of an assembly intended to carry out a false-multiple-twist using the device according to the invention.
Figs. 4 and 5, finally, show, in elevation and on a smaller scale, two possible variants of the device which is the subject of the invention.
For the example shown in fig. 1 and 2, we dsi = gne by 1-a support which can be fixed to the frame of the loom, possibly in an adjustable manner. In a bore which passes right through this support 1, an element 2 of generally tubular shape is introduced, which is blocked on the support by screwing an upper cup 3, for example in the manner shown in the drawing. The part- 2 has a bore 2a which passes through it vertically; the walls of this bore are fixed and the bore opens at its upper end into a central opening 3a provided at the bottom of the bowl 3.
Below the support 1, the element 2 carries a bearing 4 on the outer ring-which is fixed a pou = lie 5; on the underside of this pulley is fixed a plate 6 in the center of which a small curved tube 7 begins.
The assembly 5, 6 and 7 rotates around an axis which
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
coincides with that of pipe 2a; the orifice 7a at the base of the pipe 7 is located substantially in the aforementioned geometric axis. while the upper orifice of the pipe 7 is exactly entered on the axis of rotation and therefore constitutes; the extension of the fixed pipe 2a.
The wick which is to be subjected to the combined false twisting and stretching, and which is delivered by a pair of feed rollers; passes through the bowl 3, the fixed pipe 2a and then the rotary pipe 7, to engage at the outlet of the orifice 7a in a pair of stretching cylinders including the. peripheral speed is greater than that of the supply eylinders located upstream of the device.
During its passage through the curved and rotating pipe 7, the wick due to the sinuous shape of the pipe and under the influence of centrifugal force more or less adheres to the wall of the pipe -7- and is completely way driven in rotation by this pipe. This produces a false twist of the wick which passes through the device, as well as a slight braking action which tends to delay the movement of the translation of the wick.
The twist turns that the bit takes on:. Above the device are at least partially restored during the travel between
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
be the orifices 7a and the stretching and rap = pel cylinders which must be placed relatively close to the orifice 7a.
The engagement of the wick in the pipe 2a and in the pipe 7 can be advantageously carried out due to the particular shape of the device, using a pneumatic effect, that is to say by producing at least during the phase of introduction of a current of air which enters the wick in the direction of its movement. This pneumatic drag effect can even be maintained, in some cases, while the bit is working.
For the example shown, there is provided, in a place located approximately in the middle of the pipe 2a, an opening 8 of suitable dimensions, which is oriented downwards, that is to say towards the pipe 7; it is in this opening 8 that a passage 9 opens so that the assembly forms a sort of nozzle intended for the admission of air into the pipe 2a so as to determine a discharge current in the opening 8 in the direction of the orifice 7a and a suction current between the mouth 3: of the pipe 2a and the opening 8. The air is delivered through a fitting 10 to which is connected

together with the air supply pressure, the force and range of the jet thus produced.
The compressed air supply can be controlled by using a suitable valve, possibly constituted by a device which more or less crushes the flexible pipe 11. In the event that the air jet is only foreseen during operations of introucticn of the wick, it is possible to provide for controlling the power supply at the same time as all the false twisting devices which would form a battery in a spinning machine or similar machine;
it is also possible to provide, replacing this single control, a 'separate control for each' of these devices, in the event of a breakage of a bit during work, a single control could possibly include several cams mounted on a common shaft which would extend along a series of devices, these cams being arranged so as to simultaneously control the flow of compressed air through the pipes 11, either directly or by means of suitable organs. The compressed air which supplies one or more groups of devices can be advantageously supplied by a reservoir of suitable capacity supplied in turn with a variable flow rate.
We have shown on the wire-. 3 an embodiment of the invention in which an increase in torsion is carried out

multiple, that is to say progressive. 14 shows the two supply cylinders of the first device, 15 a second pair of cylinders which serve both as stretching or return cylinders for the first device and as supply cylinders for the second device. There is also shown at 16 and 17 two other pairs of cylinders which serve respectively to feed the next device = operative and return cylinders to the device if = killed upstream.
Whereas it is advantageous to be able to modify, according to. the type of fiber and depending on other factors involved in the work, the distance between the device and the pairs of feed rollers and drawers, it may be advantageous to be able to move the devices relative to the pairs of cylinders.
In the case of multiple stretching, as shown in fig. 3, it should also be possible to change the position of the three devices (or a greater number of them, if applicable) with respect to the corresponding pairs of cylinders 14 to 17; for this purpose, one can either mount the various supports 1 on a common element 18 in order to effect their simultaneous displacement, or provide a separate adjustment of each device. The movement of the pulleys 5 can be transmitted by means of courts = elastic wheels 19 allowed to absorb the differences
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
any spacing, unless suitable belt tensioners are provided.
Flexible pipes 20, similar to pipes 11, supply the separate devices with compressed air, through appropriate taps; this air is taken from a reservoir = see common 21 for the three or more devices, with the interposition of calibrated nozzles. The reservoir 21 can in turn be supplied by a common collector 22 via a valve or a properly adjusted dosing device,
While in the example of FIG. 1 the curved tube 7 has the appearance of a simple S, in the examples shown in fig. 4 and 5 the shape of this pipe is modified.
Thus in FIG. 4, part of the pipe 7 is off-center while being substantially parallel to the axis of rotation, while the pipe shown in FIG. 5 pos = - sede a double curvature.
For the two examples, shown in Figs. 4 and 5 just as for the previous example, the cuvette 3 can be replaced either by a funnel 23 of a more recommended shape, or by any other element capable, such as the cuvette 3 or better than the latter, of accumulating the wick, in the event of breakage or an interruption in the movement of a wick through passages 2a and 7. To prevent
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
rupture the accumulated tench can fall before the intervention of the operator, it is possible to arrange to arrange the bowls 3 or the funnels 23- (or any other equivalent accessory) in openings formed in a plate 24.
It is understood that the appended drawing only shows a schematic embodiment of the invention, the = which is given only by way of example and can lend itself to numerous variants without however departing from the scope. of the invention. Thus, the pneumatic blowing device could also include at least one ring of nozzles distributed all around a section of the pipe, this or its rings being supplied by a suitable annular manifold;
the arrangement could also include several nozzles or series of nozzles suitably arranged the logg of the passage formed by the pipes 2a and'7. A nozzle or a series of nozzles can also be arranged near the mouth 3a or the pri = fice 7a in order to promote training.
Although the device is intended more ppécially for the drawing of carded fibers, it can also be applied to the very deep drawing of combed fibers.
