La figure 2 est une coupe longitudinale de la tige de valve suivant l'invention;
La figure 3 est une coupe semblable à celle de la fi- gure 2, d'une autre forme de réalisation de l'invention;
La figure 4 est une coupe de la tige de valve montrée sur la figure 1, en place 'sur une jante;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Valve for tubeless tires.
The present invention relates to a rubber valve stem and particularly to a rubber valve stem for use with a rim and tubeless tire.
The invention aims to provide: a rubber valve stem which can be easily fitted and removed from the outside of a rim for a tubeless tire; a rubber valve stem itself ensuring its fixing and the sealing of its fitting in the rim of a tubeless tire, which can be introduced into the valve hole of the rim from the outside of that -this; a rubber valve stem of the type described, which keeps the valve hole of the lante airtight when

whatever the conditions of service.
To better understand the invention, reference will be made to the appended drawing in which:
Figure 1 is a cross section of a rim with tubeless tire, showing -in elevation the valve stem according to the present invention-,
FIG. 2 is a longitudinal section of the valve stem according to the invention;
Figure 3 is a section similar to that of Figure 2, of another embodiment of the invention;
Figure 4 is a sectional view of the valve stem shown in Figure 1, in place on a rim;
Figure 5 is a section through the valve stem shown in Figure 3, in place on a rim.
In figure 1 of the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates a rim on which is mounted a tire without ', inner tube 2. The rim 1 has a valve hole 3 of standard dimensions' through which. protrudes the valve stem, indicated as a whole by the number 4. The stem 4 has an axial hole in which is engaged and welded, substantially over the entire length of the stem, a metal valve body 5., The outer end of the body 5 passes the rod 4 again and carries a thread 7 to receive a conventional valve cap (not shown).
The interior of the body 5 is threaded to receive an ordinary valve valve (not shown).
As shown in Figure 2, the valve stem 4 has a cone-shaped head 8 terminating in a shoulder 9.
Placed on the rim, the shoulder 9 rests on the part 10 of the rim adjacent to the valve hole, as shown in figure 4.
The neck 11 of the valve stem 4 bears on the inner periphery of the valve hole 3. Beyond the neck, the lower part 12 of the valve stem gradually tapers towards the base 13 and the inner end 14 of the body 5 into a truncated cone. The diameter
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
da the lower part 12 of the base 13 is less large in @@@@ tance than the diameter of the valve hole 3 of the rim. The dig eter increases in direct proportion to the distance of the neck 11, between the outer extract 6 and the internal end 14 of the body 5. To achieve the seal between the neck 11 of the rod and the periphery of the valve hole 3, the external diameter of the neck is 18 to 50 greater than the diameter of the valve hole 3 of the rim.
As shown in the section in Figure 4, the neck 11 of the rod is strongly compressed between the body insert 5 and the inner periphery of the valve hole 3 of the rim when the rod is in place. The shoulder 9 is compressed in the same way against the part 10 of the rim adjacent to the valve hole, thus ensuring the seal and forming a resitive stop to keep the valve in place during its assembly. In addition, the shoulder serves to keep the valve stem perpendicular to the face of the rim. The neck 11 of the valve stem is sufficiently compressed between the body 5 and the inner periphery of the valve hole 3 of the rim to prevent the stem from being removed by hand, ejected by centrifugal force or forced out of the hole. rim valve 3 by air pressure.
The valve stem shown in Figure 2 is easily mounted from the outside 10 of the rim 1. The valve can be mounted in the rim 1 when the tire 2 is in place or when the inner face 15 of the rim is inaccessible. The valve stem is mounted by hand in the rim by inserting the conical lower part 12 of the stem into the valve hole 3 from the outside 10 to the inside 15 of the rim 1 until the part la wider of the tapered base engages the periphery of the valve hole. We then give a blow, or we apply a force, axially on the head 7 of the tie to force the base into the hole 3 and put the neck 11 and the shoulder 9 in place in and around the valve hole of the tie. rim.
Figure 3 shows a variant of the present invention.
