The present invention relates to continuous fireplaces with coal or other solid fuel and also to stoves, cookers of this type comprising a magazine or a fuel tank.
The desired aim is to eliminate the distillation gases originating outside the combustion zone and more particularly in the space located above the fuel reserve contained in the store and also to burn them as well as the gases. unburnt from fuel.
With a view to achieving this aim, provision is made for a secondary air inlet which entrains the gases produced and enables them to be discharged in general towards the outlet flue for the combustion gases.
In the practical embodiment of the invention, this entrainment of the distillation gases or of the unburnt gases is effected by a pressure or suction action.
Two embodiments will be described below by way of nonlimiting examples with reference to the drawings in which FIG. 1 relates to the first of these embodiments and FIG. 2 to the second.
The fireplace shown comprises in a known manner a reservoir or store 1 containing the charcoal, a grate 2 above which is the combustion chamber 3, an ashtray 4, the gas outlet 5, the gas box. fumes 6 communicating through connection 7 with the chimney.
The store is designed to achieve an incandescent layer of adequate thickness.
According to the invention, the primary air coming from a blower 8 is directed towards the grid 2 in such a way that this air passes through the fuel layer resting on the latter but on the other hand secondary air also coming from of this blower is brought by a duct 9 above the fuel reserve contained in the tank 1. This secondary air is intended to entrain the distillation gases and to burn them as well as the unburnt material originating from the incandescent fuel.
In the example shown the conduit 9 terminates in a convergent 10 which is arranged so as to entrain the distillation gases by suction through a divergent 11 towards a conduit 12 communicating through orifices 13 with the flue 5 of where the burnt gases escape to the chimney.
Between the store 1 and the duct 12 is provided a space 14 for circulating the ambient air so as to isolate the store and to increase the heating surface of the apparatus.
The total quantity of air as well as the ratio of the quantities of primary and secondary air are adjustable and this adjustment can be obtained by two valves 15 and 16, one of which 15 regulates the primary air and the other 16 regulates the air. secondary air.
Complete combustion can thus be achieved with a minimum of excess air under different operating conditions.
FIG. 2 relates to a variant in which a pipe 17 for the primary air supply is connected to a pipe 18 which ends in a convergent 19 exerting a suction action in a pipe 9 starting from the space. located above the coal reserve so that the gases can be entrained by suction from this space towards a duct 20 which opens into the flue 5 and which comprises a divergent 21 cooperating with the convergent 19.

In each of the embodiments as represented by the drawings, the evacuation of the distillation gases or the unburnt gases is effected by a suction action.
However, these embodiments have only been given by way of non-limiting examples and while remaining within the scope of the invention, the duct 9 could open out into the space 22 (FIG. 1) without being extended. up to converge 10 so that the gases would be entrained towards channel 12 by a pressure action. ,
