The present invention relates to an apparatus for visually verifying the flow of a fluid in a pipe.
In this field, devices known as trap controllers are known in particular, which are placed on the pipe directly after or before the trap in order to check the normal operation of the latter or in the pipe to check the flow of steam or water. the water; this controller comprises one or more windows closed by a glass in order to make visible the passage of the fluid in the pipe. In known devices, the internal face of this crystal is in permanent and direct contact with the moving fluid, the circulation of which, accompanied by strong turbulence, produces strong erosion which has the effect of removing transparency and corrode ice; 11 it then becomes useless as long as this glass has not been replaced.
On the other hand, it is known that there are water level indicators comprising a window protected by mica in order to avoid corrosion by the various compounds dissolved in the water.
The present invention limited to the visual control of the circulation of a fluid in a pipe consists in mounting thereon an apparatus having an observation window comprising two transparent elements arranged side by side and one of which is in contact with it. the moving fluid is made of one material resistant to erosion in order to protect the other.
According to one characteristic, the transparent element in contact with the fluid is preferably constituted by a sheet of mica.
In an alternative embodiment, an apparatus according to the invention comprises two or more opposing windows.
The present invention will be better understood from the following description of the accompanying drawings which show, by way of illustrative example only, one mode of application. the figure is a schematic view, in axial section, longitudinal, through a device called the trap controller produced according to the invention.
The apparatus shown comprises a body 2 terminated on the right and on the left by the respective pipes 2a, 2b serving to connect it to a pipe. In this body, a baffle 3 is arranged perpendicular to the direction of flow of the fluid. In other embodiments, several baffles can be provided. In addition, the body 2 is provided above the baffle 3 with a window 4 surrounded by a rim 4a in which a seal is housed. 5. On this seal is placed the closing element of the window. constituted by a disc 6 in mica. After interposition of another seal 7 is then placed the glass 8 which is retained by the removable clamp 9 in which is tightened by screws or bolts not shown passing through lugs such as 10.
It is easily understood that, in this device, the fluid deflected by the clylane 3 is made visible to the observer and licks the mica disc 6, which prevents it from attacking the ice 8 by erosion.
