<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
Fig. 8).

The present invention relates to a parlor game whose constituent elements reproduce those of "Basketball" and are provided with maneuvering means making it possible to reproduce, with the intervention of the users of the game, the main phases of competitive basketball. .
This game consists of a table representing the area delimiting the two opposing camps and which is provided with two transverse and parallel depressions (one per camp) each located between two lines of figurines representing the players, the said figurines being constructed in such a way that the ball can be grasped, lifted and thrown towards the goal of the opposite camp.
These figurines, made of any suitable material, are mounted in groups of two or three, as defined below, on a metal bar or the like which crosses them approximately at hip height. These bars are supported and guided by the side walls delimiting the game table.
The figurines in question are articulated, the body is articulated in relation to the legs and the arms are in relation to said body.
By a rotational movement applied to the support bar with the aid of the handle which ends it at one of its ends outside the limits of the table, a mechanism, placed inside the figures, the their bodies can be lowered forward until their hands can touch and grasp the ball by squeezing it between them (like a pincer). By a reverse rotation of the bar supporting the miniatures, the body straightens while raising the arms (holding the ball) above the head, and by a new abrupt maneuver of the bar, the ball can be thrown. in the direction of the intended goal. On either side of each of the transverse depressions provided in the playing area, there is a line of figurines, one of these lines comprising the figurines of one camp and the other those of the opposing camp.
The skill of the players present and maneuvering the bars carrying the figurines will allow them to compete for the ball and to reproduce the phases of the game. Each ball reaching the goal is put out of play and falls into = collector.
For this purpose, the ball, on reaching the goal, instead of crossing the net and falling back into play, is led by a suitable channel towards the said collector. The balls thus collected in the latter can be released and put back into play by the introduction of a coin into a prepayment device.
One embodiment, given by way of non-limiting example, is shown in the accompanying drawings in which: FIG. 1 is a view in elevation and partially in section of a figurine, with its articulation mechanism.

The table a represents the area of a basketball court, it is surrounded by a frame 1, supporting the bars 2 with handles 3, supporting the figures b and intended for the operation of the latter.
The bars 2 can rotate and slide in the pads 4 placed in the longitudinal sides of the frame 1 and allow, in addition to lateral displacement, 1 @ maneuver of said figures.
The parts a 'of the table have slopes towards the transverse depressions 5, located between two neighboring bars 2.
The bars 2 located on either side of each of these depressions 5 correspond to figures from opposite camps. The handles 3 of these two neighboring bars 2 are located at the opposite ends of them, that is to say that if the handle of one of these bars is located on the right side of the table, the handle of the other is on the left side of the latter. As table a has two depressions 5 (one in each side) the game includes two pairs of bars (one pair per side) and the handles of the bars of each side are arranged on the same side of the table, in this way both players are placed opposite each other.
At both ends of the table is arranged a goal c formed by a hoop 6 fixed to a backrest 7. The whole is held by a support d.
A mesh skirt is attached to each goal c. As shown in fig.
6, a receptacle 8 is placed under the arch 6, this receptacle, extended by a channel 9, passes through the backrest 7 along the support d and opens into the collector e provided under the table a, this collector cannot be reached by the players.
Fig. 8 shows that the bottom of the collector e is inclined in the direction of the plate 10 intended to receive the balls arrived at the goals.
If these balls can only be taken back by the players with a pre-payment, a check valve 11, articulated on the axis 12, is provided in the collector e.
The check valve 11 is connected by the transmission lever 14 to the prepayment device 13, which releases the valve 11 only after the introduction of a coin of the expected value.
Bars 2 with three b figures represent the attacking players and the said figures face the nearest c goal, while bars 2 only have two b figures representing the defense players and located at the rear. of the game, these miniatures face the first.
The b figures are mounted in groups of two or three on a rotating and sliding bar 2. Each figure is made up of three parts, the body 15, the legs 16 and the arms 17.
The upper part of the legs 16 ends in a toothed sector 18, the center of which is freely crossed by the bar 2. The sector 18 of the legs 16 is therefore suspended from the bar 2 and does not follow the latter in its rotations.
The bar 2 is secured to the body 15 by means of the rivets 19 (see fig. 1), therefore, the body 15 performs an angular displacement with respect to the legs 16, when the bar 2 is rotated (see freezes 2 and 5).
Inside the body 15 is arranged a gear 20 in engagement with the toothed sector 18 so that it is rotated during the angular displacement of the body 15.
The gear 20 engages an intermediate pinion 21 which is itself in engagement with the gear 22, the axis 23 of which carries the arms 17 which, in this way, are articulated to the body 15. This articulation is not free. but is controlled by the described gear system. In
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In fact, when the body 15 is angularly displaced by the rotation of the bar 2, the gear 20 is actuated by the toothed sector 18, drives the intermediate pinion 21 which, in turn, drives 1) gear 22.
The latter or rather its axis 23, carrying the arms 17, causes the latter to pass from the position shown in FIG. 2 to that of Figures 4 and 5 and vice versa. It follows that if one wants to seize the ball 24, resting in a depression of the game, the inclined figurine comne shown by figs. 4 4 and 5, bring his arms to the ground and these grip the ball 24; then, when the figurine is upright, the arms are raised slightly back as shown in phantom in fig. 2, so that the ball can be thrown towards the goal c.
The ends of the axis 23 passing through the arms 17 are prismatic iaon to entrain the latter by force during the rotation of said axis. The arms 17 move on the surfaces 25 of the body 15, against which they are pressed by the springs 26. The surfaces 25 are symmetrical and have a boss for the purpose of keeping the hands in the form of jaws, when the arms are directed towards them. ground. Under the tension of the springs 26, the hands are pushed towards each other so that there remains between them a space slightly smaller than the diameter of the balloon 24. (See figs. 4 and 5).
The ball spreads the hands slightly but it is held between them by the action of the springs 26.
The ball being gripped by the arms 17, it can be lifted by straightening the body 15, by maneuvering the bar 2, towards the position of the freeze 2. The ball 24 is engaged between the two hands 17 ', but passing from the position in solid lines to that in phantom fig.
2) the boss carried by the bearing surfaces 25 modifies the angular position of the hands and at this moment they are placed one next to the other, in the form of a paddle or racket, as shown by the figure 3.
Under the action of a sudden rotation applied to the bar 2, the body 15 and the arms 17 describe an angular displacement, launch the ball 24 in the direction of the goal c.
When a coin is inserted into the prepayment device, the check valve 11 is lifted by the transmission 14 and the balloons, held until this moment, roll towards the tray 10.
A balloon taken from the latter, is thrown in the center of the table a and rolls, thanks to the slopes a 'towards one or the other of the depressions 5. Each of these being situated between two lines of figurines, the players rivals try to grab this ball by maneuvering and sliding the bar 2 carrying the miniatures of their camp. To achieve this goal the bar 2 is slid until one of the figures b is at the height of the ball, the body 15 of this figure is then tilted forward, by a corresponding rotation of the bar of which it is part. to grab the ball 24 between the hands 17 '. These, when they come into contact with the balloon, move apart somewhat, since the distance between them is slightly less than the diameter of the balloon, and keep the latter under the action of the springs 26.
Then, the player who operates the bar 2, by the handle 3, turns this bar in the opposite direction so that the body 15 of the figurine rises from the position represented by FIGS. 4 to 5 in that of FIG. 2. Because the straightening of the body 16 activates the gear train 20-21-23, the arms 17 are raised, also at an angle greater than said body 15 and the balloon 24 is fed by them. hands 17 'to its highest position; since the protrusion of the bearing surfaces 25 of the arms 17 forces the latter to turn slightly, the result is that the hands 17 'are placed next to each other so as to represent the shape of a paddle or racket.
If at this time a sudden action is exerted on
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the bar 2 so as to cause the forward movement of the body 15 and the arms 17, the ball 24 is launched forward, following a trajectory in the direction of the goal e to be reached, as shown by figure 6.
This shows that the figures b, can act approximately, as @ e actually do basketball players.
If the thrown ball does not reach the intended goal, it lands on the playing area and due to the presence of the slopes has forced the ball to stop in one or other of the depressions 5 of or it can be picked up by either player and raised.
If the ball is caught by one of the figures at the back of the game, it will be difficult to throw it into the opposite goal, but it may be thrown forward towards the depression in the other camp where with some pressure. ability of the player, it can be picked up and thrown again towards the target.
If the ball reaches the goal c, it is led - by the receptacle 8 and the conduit 9 towards the collector e where it is retained by the valve 11. Fig. 8).
The game then continues until the number of balls 24 available to the players is exhausted. If the latter want to start a new game, the balloons housed in the collector e are only released by inserting a coin into the prepayment device activating the lifting of the check valve 11 placed in the collector e .
It is expressly specified that the object of the invention is not limited exclusively to the embodiment described and shown and that modifications may be made to the number, form and arrangement of its constituent elements for provided that the said modifications do not contradict the claims.
