Les dessins annexés représentent schématiquement divers exemples de réalisation du dispositif pour la mise en oeuvre du procédé selon l'invention. Dans ces dessins: la figure 1 montre schématiquement comment prennent naissance, dans un couloir,les courants giratoires; les figures 2a et Ab représentent, respectivement en coupe transversale et en élévation, un couloir cintré, perforé ou garni d'un tamis, susceptible de recevoir des vibrations, perpendiculairement à la direction de cheminement du produit;
Les figures 3a et 3b représentent, respectivement en perspective et en élévation, un couloir de criblage incliné, dans lequel le gros est évacué par gravité;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The invention relates to a process for the mechanical treatment of products, which may find application, for example, for the separation by screening of products which are present in granular or powder form or in suspension in a liquid, as well as for mix different products.
The method forming the subject of the invention, as well as the devices suitable for carrying out the latter, exhibiting considerable advantages over the methods and apparatus known hitherto, both as regards their production capacity at equal dimensions, as the precision and flexibility of the processing operation.
The method according to the invention consists, in principle, in imparting to the product to be treated a gyratory movement, by imposing vibrations on the container which contains it. By suitably arranging said container, it is possible to perform several of these gyratory movements in parallel.
If, for example, the receptacle receiving the product to be treated, to which such a gyratory movement is imprinted, is established in the form of a sieve, a much more complete and effective separation is achieved in a very short time than up to presents an Initial product in its various constituent elements, depending on the perforation dimensions of the screen. The combination or the mixture of different products is, likewise, greatly improved when imparting to the product to be treated, in accordance with the process of the invention, vibrations which give it a gyratory movement. When the other products are added, an almost perfect and much better mixture is obtained than that obtained by the mixing methods known hitherto.
The mechanical treatment, whether screening or mixing, can be carried out in sections, which makes it possible to obtain, on screening, a classification by degrees of fineness and, on mixing, an intimate mixture of several products of different bases.
For the implementation of the method according to the invention, use is advantageously made of corridors in the form of troughs, to which vibrators impart jerks, substantially perpendicular to the axis of the corridor.
Two streams of the product are thus formed in these corridors, in opposite roundabouts.
It is possible to superimpose, on the specific gyratory movement of the product which is in the corridor, a movement of movement in the longitudinal direction of the corridor. This translational movement can be obtained either by a suitable inclination of the passage, or thanks to vibrations having a component directed along the direction of travel of the product.
The latter process offers the advantage of eliminating any difference in level between the entrance and the exit of the corridor. It has been observed that the superposition of transverse and longitudinal vibrations notably favors the classification and the mixing of the material in the corridor.
In the case of screening, it is particularly advantageous to give the components of the vibrations which determine the path of the product a certain obliquity with respect to the treatment surface of the latter, for example to incline them at an angle of 15 on the vertical with respect to the screening surface, because the vertical component of these vibrations thus greatly favors the screening operation.
The vibrations can be imparted to the container containing the product to be treated by one or more vibrators, the frequencies of the transverse vibrations generate the gyration movement and those of the longitudinal translational vibrations, which promote the treatment, which can be equal or different. By varying the frequency or the amplitude of these vibrations, it is also possible to adjust the stirring speed and that of the path, in any way, as required.

The appended drawings schematically represent various embodiments of the device for implementing the method according to the invention. In these drawings: FIG. 1 shows schematically how the gyratory currents originate in a corridor; FIGS. 2a and Ab represent, respectively in cross section and in elevation, a curved passage, perforated or lined with a screen, capable of receiving vibrations, perpendicular to the direction of movement of the product;
FIGS. 3a and 3b represent, respectively in perspective and in elevation, an inclined screening corridor, in which the bulk is discharged by gravity;
FIGS. 4a and 4b represent in section and in elevation, a horizontal or substantially horizontal corridor on which are printed, by a single eccentric mass, both the vibratory components perpendicular to the direction of travel of the product, and those directed along this direction. this; Figure 5 is a schematic elevational view of a device for mixing, for example, three products; FIGS. 6 and 7 represent, by way of comparison, a screening device of known type and a device according to the invention.
In the example shown in Figure 1, 1 designates supports, between which is suspended a corridor 2, in which a shaker device 3, which is not shown in detail and which may be, for example, a rotating eccentric mass , imprints on the product to be treated, by dividing it into two partial streams 4 and 5, a gyratory movement, accompanied, if necessary, by a helical movement of advance.
Figures 2 to 4 show the application of the method according to the invention to screening operations. In Figures 2a and 2b is shown a corridor 7, .muni perforations 6, 8 designates only the force generating the transverse vibrations.
The profile represented can be different according to the needs. Its periphery can, in particular, be more or less close to the semi-circle.
It is clear from Figures 3a and 3b, without further explanation being necessary, that the inclined arrangement of the passage leads to a downward path of the product.
Figures 4a and 4b show, in section and in elevation, a horizontal passage 9, to which vibrations are imparted by means of a single vibrator 12, disposed above it and acting, for example, on side flanges 11 These vibrations have a component directed along the axis of the corridor and another perpendicular to the first, so that there is a circular or elliptical movement of each of the points of the corridor, the latter being mounted on elastic supports of wood or steel 13.
The vibrator 12 is inclined at an angle oL on the vertical, from which it follows that, in addition to their horizontal component, the vibrations have a vertical component. This is equal to zero when the angle [alpha] is 0 while the horizontal component, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the corridor, then reaches its maximum value. The angle [alpha] can be varied from 0 to 90, its maximum value being 90. During the entire variation of this angle, the horizontal component of the vibrations, perpendicular to the axis of the corridor, always remains equal to the maximum component. During the variation of the angle [alpha], the horizontal component in the direction of the axis of the lane, which is equal to zero for [alpha] = 90, also varies.
It is therefore possible, by varying the angle, to modify the speed of a-
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
advancement of the product in the longitudinal direction of the corridor, as the lifting height of the product, which makes it possible to find, by trial and error, the optimum angle, which depends on the properties of the product to be screened. This obviously applies equally to mixing operations, the optimum value of the angle [alpha] then being chosen according to the products to be mixed.
FIG. 5 represents the application of the method according to the invention to mixing operations. Between the supports 1 hangs the corridor 2, under which is placed a vibrator 3. The base product of the mixture therefore moves, in the corridor 2 following the gyratory currents 4 and 5, shown in figure 1. The materials to be added to the mixture are distributed in the corridor 2 by hoppers 14 and 15, arranged at suitable distances from each other.
In the embodiment of FIG. 5, the component vibratory movement directed along the longitudinal axis of the corridor is generated by a second vibrator 3 ′, which can be arranged, for example, on the side of the corridor. , in the vicinity of one of the supports 1. It goes without saying that the corridor 2 can be of any length or constituted by assembling elements suitably connected. We can therefore have)) throughout the corridor or the queue of assembled lanes, providing a multiplicity of hoppers such as 14 and 15, which alternately distribute the additional product to the lane, or which bring therein different materials to be mixed with the base product.
Pulses especially for mixing operations the lane 2 can be established in a flexible form and deform as shown in figure 1. Thanks to the partial gyratory currents which originate in the lane, new particles of the base product are constantly coming in. in contact with the material supplied by the hoppers 14 and 15, and an intimate mixture is thus formed in the passage.
The principle of the simultaneous production of gyratory and translational vibrations, by means of one or more vibrators, can be applied, in particular for screening, to the operation of screening installations not provided with corridors, but equipped by example of flat sieve.
FIGS. 6 and 7 represent, by way of comparison, the possibilities of application offered., In such a case, the arrangement known until now and that proposed by the invention. We see, in Figure 6, a plane screen 16, driven in the manner commonly used hitherto for devices of this type, by a vibrating device such as an eccentric mass 17. The axis of the gyratory movement is., in this case, perpendicular to the direction of travel of the product, that is to say that the axis or axes of the gyratory movement 18 described by the product is perpendicular to the plane of the drawing.
On the other hand, FIG. 7 represents the arrangement according to the invention, in which the effective axis of the vibrator 19 is inclined at an angle [alpha] on the vertical, from which it follows that, as a result of the jolts transmitted to the screen 16, the product travels on it, in the form of partial veins in helical gyration. By suitably choosing the angle [alpha], which depends on the product to be screened and can be easily determined by tests, it is possible to adjust the intensity of the gyratory movement of the product on the screen 16, independently of its movement. translation, whereas, in the known arrangement, recalled above, the intensity of the gyration correlates with the translational movement of the product.
It goes without saying that the receptacle receiving the product to be treated is not necessarily in the form of a passage and that it can be used, for screening as well as for mixing, of a surface of any shape, the corridor however constituting the most rational form of execution.
Several lanes can, if necessary, be arranged side by side and receive the vibrations necessary for screening or mixing, from common vibrators or suitably coupled together.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The color itself can be rigid or elastic. It may have the shape of a half-tube or of a closed tube; However, care must be taken to ensure that its shape does not interfere with the creation of partial gyratory currents.
The vibrators can be both unbalance devices as well as electromagnetic or electrostatic vibrators, and arranged so as to generate not only substantially uniform vibrations, but vibrations of variable form. In the case of mixing, in particular, as well as for screening, the passage can be heated or electrically charged, the heating or the electric charge being limited substantially to the portions of the surface of the passage in contact with the product to be screened or to mix.
It is understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown, which have been chosen only by way of example.
