<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Several solutions have already been proposed to the problem of the combined control of the throttle and the decompressor by means of a rotating handle, in mopeds. Thus, in a first embodiment, the rotating handle is integral in rotation with a sleeve in which are formed two distinct helical ramps, each attacking a slider with axial displacement, these two sliders being respectively connected to the two flexible cables. control to the carburetor and cylinder. This solution is satisfactory, but relatively expensive.
In another embodiment, much simpler, less expensive, but also less aesthetic, the two flexible cables end tangentially in two rotating sleeves on which they wind the rotation of the first of these sleeves, controlled by the handle, in - dragging that of the second, after it has turned a certain angle.
Finally, a rotating handle is known for a single control, in which two helical ramps of opposite pitch are formed one behind the other in the rotating sleeve, an axially displaced slider associated with the rear ramp attacking a control cable, then that another cursor associated with the anterior ramp attacks the sheath of this same cable, of which it constitutes the stop. Thanks to this arrangement, a large control stroke is obtained, for a reduced angle of rotation of the handle
The present invention relates to a revolving handle ensuring the combined control of the gases and the decompressor, in cyclomotors, and similar applications, to which the two corresponding flexible cables are connected axially, but which only comprises 'a single ramp formed in its rotating sleeve.
This produces a device that is just as aesthetic as in the first type of control recalled, or even less bulky, and of simpler manufacture.
This handle is essentially characterized by a combination of two sliders, one of which is moved by the helical ramp, and acts on the flexible throttle control cable which is attached to it, the second slider, independent of the ramp, being driven. by the first, when the latter arrives at a certain point in its course.
This second cursor does not act on the flexible control cable of the decompressor, which is connected to a fixed point of the device. According to another essential characteristic of the invention, it constitutes a movable stop for the sheaths of the two cables. Thus, when this second slider is driven by the throttle slider, the throttle cable and its sheath move together without any relative movement. The decompressor cable is fixed by construction. It is its sheath which, moved under the action of the second slider, via the first, controls the decompressor.
The invention will be best explained in support of the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 represents the mechanism according to the invention, in a developed diagram, in the "decompression" position.
Figure 2 shows the members in the "compression without acceleration" position.
FIG. 3 indicates the position of the organs corresponding to the maximum acceleration.
Figures 4 show a practical embodiment, respectively in longitudinal section and in cross section.
The fixed body of the rotating handle mounted on the handlebars is designated by 1. It forms a passage 2 comprising a stop 3. In this passage there are two sliders 4 and 5, the first constituting the stop of the ducts 6 and 7 of the two flexible cables 8 and 9, one of which ends at the decompressor (D) and the other at the accelerator (A) o
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The cable 8 is stopped in a fixed terminal 10 belonging to the body 1 of the handle. For this purpose, it passes through a longitudinal bore 11 of the slider 4. The cable 9 itself stops in a terminal 12 belonging to the slider 5. The device is completed by a helical ramp 13, belonging to a rotating sleeve 15. , ramp which is shown developed in Figures 1, 2 and 3. A tenon 14 of the slider 5 is engaged in this ramp.
The operation is as follows: In FIG. 1, the organs occupy the extreme position corresponding to complete decompression. By rotating the sleeve 15 in which the ramp 13 is formed in the direction indicated by the arrow, the tenon 14 drives the cursor 5 which moves to the right, followed by the cursor 4, on which the decompressor return spring acts. . During this movement, no relative movement is caused between the sheath 7 and the cable 9 of the throttle control A, which therefore remains closed. On the other hand, the sheath 6 of the control D of the decompressor progresses along the cable 8, connected to the fixed point 10, and this in the direction which corresponds to the closing of the decompressor.
When the cursor 4 comes to meet the stop 3, this closing is complete. The organs then occupy the position indicated in figure 2.
The continued rotation of the ramp sleeve 15 can only drive the slider 5 and the cable 9, the sheath 7 of which is stopped by the slider 4 then blocked. The relative movement between this cable and its sheath causes the throttle to open.
Figure 3 corresponds to the maximum acceleration. The ramp sleeve 15 has reached its extreme angular position, and the slider 5 is at the end of its travel.
The operations will be carried out in reverse if the sleeve 15 is rotated in the opposite direction.
By the time cursor 5 meets cursor 4, the throttle period will be over, and the decompression period will begin.
It goes without saying that Figures 1, 2 and 3 of the drawing are schematic facing, and only intended to facilitate the explanation of the operation. Figures 4 and 5 show that in practice the body 1 is constituted by a part fixed to the handlebar 1 ', co-axially to the ramp sleeve 15 of the rotating handle proper, designated by 16. The structural form particular sliders, and that of the stop 3, will be determined by the conditions of the material production, within the reach of one skilled in the art.
The device according to the invention has been described here as applied to the combined control of the gases and of the decompressor, in a moped.
It is quite obvious, however, that it could receive all other similar applications, without thereby departing from the scope of this invention.
Likewise, the nature of this device would not be modified by its "multiplication"; it would then include, for example, three sliders - or more - each controlling a particular cable; these sliders would then be provided with stops judiciously placed to allow their successive actuation, under the effect of the rotation of the ramp sleeve.
