<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

DAYLIGHT LUMINOUS PROJECTION DEVICE.
The present invention relates to a device allowing light and cinematographic projection by transparency, without obscuring the room where the projection takes place, this room not needing to be specially fitted out.
It is already known to project images or cinematographic films by transparency in daylight, but generally known devices have the drawback of presenting an inverted image, which makes it impossible to project sound or commentary films as well as under -securities.
In addition, the known devices did not lend themselves to the normal projection of any film with a sound track or to the use of any projection device existing on the market.
The present invention obviates these drawbacks by the arrangement, inside the device, of three plane mirrors intended to straighten the image so that it is seen in its normal direction of projection on an ordinary screen.
The apparatus according to the invention offers the advantage of being able to adapt just as well to the projection of commercial or advertising cinematographic films, with sound as to that of slides.
The projected image remains crisp in both daylight and artificial lighting.
This image appears by transparency on a frosted glass screen or any other translucent material, placed at the upper part of the fireplace constituting the device, the mat side of the glass being placed outside to avoid reflections.
The projection device is placed in the immediate vicinity of the

positive, advantageously in front of it.
However, one embodiment of the present device provides for the projection from the rear wall side by changing the arrangement of the mirrors, one of the mirrors being placed outside the wall. In this embodiment of the invention, the external mirror can advantageously be replaced by a prism.
The device according to the present invention can therefore be designed to allow both projection at the front or at the rear of the device.
It can be made in folding or removable form.
The invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of one of the embodiments of the device according to the invention, with the projection apparatus placed at the front.
Fig. 2 is a section taken along line II-II of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 shows an embodiment of the same device suitable for rear projection.
Fig. 4 and 5 are plan views of the device shown in FIG. 3.
In Figures 1, 2 and 3, 1 represents the window through which the image is projected and in front of which the projection apparatus P is placed in its normal position, 2 represents the translucent screen, 3 a protective canopy and 4 a loudspeaker.
FIG. 2 schematically shows at R the path followed by the central light ray which is the only one represented for greater clarity.
P represents the projection apparatus.
In Figures 2 and 3, 5, 6 and 7 are the three plane mirror image reflectors, placed in the chimney of the device.
In Figure 4, 9 is the prism.
In the embodiment of the device according to FIG. 2, the mirror receives at a the central ray R coming from the projector P placed in front of the window 1 in its normal projection position. The ray R is reflected at point b of mirror 6 which in turn reflects it at point 2 of mirror 7 from where it is projected onto translucent screen 2.
The light ray R coming from the projector P must be at the height of the mirror 5 which is located opposite the window 1.
The bisector of the angle R - a - b, forms an angle determined on the horizontal. The angle of inclination of mirror 5 will have the same value on the vertical.
The bisector of the angle a- b - c forms a determined angle. with vertical. The mirror 6 has the same inclination on the horizontal.
The bisector of the angle b - c - d forms a determined angle with the horizontal. The inclination of mirror 7 will have the same value on the vertical.
The mirror 7 must be oriented so that the ray c - d is directed towards the spectators, seated or standing, to obtain a maximum of intensity,
Screen 2 is perpendicular to radius ± ... d.
The awning 3 is intended to protect the screen from parasitic rays and increases the brightness of the vision.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the mirror is placed vertically on the outside of the east wall and forms with the latter an angle of 45 in front of the window 1.
The projection apparatus P is placed in front of the mirror 5 so that the light ray which it projects is parallel to the rear face and is reflected in the mirror 5 at its center.
In Figure 4 the mirror 5 is replaced by a prism and the light ray follows the same path.
The device can advantageously be executed in any opaque and rigid material, triplex, wood, cast material, light metal, etc.
Fixed or removable handles intended to allow the device to be transported from one room to another can be provided on the lateral and outer faces.
With a larger device or with a lens with a smaller focal length you can get a screen of 1 meter base and the projection is always very clear.
It is understood that the execution details mentioned above can be modified without departing from the scope of the invention.
