RIGIDES.
La présente invention qui résulte des recherches faites par Mon- sieur Louis JULIENNE, concerne l'assemblage de pièces en matières plastiques avec des pièces métalliques, céramiques ou autres matières rigides.
L'assemblage, objet de la présente invention, est réalisé en uti- lisant simultanément la contraction par refroidissement d'une matière plas- tique, préalablement chauffée, pour obtenir un serrage énergique sur une pièce métallique et une impression simultanée de la matière plastique dans une ou plusieurs gorges, cannelures ou rainures, pour fixer les deux par- ties de l'assemblage de façon immuable, notamment en rotation et en trac- tion.
Suivant un autre trait de l'invention, dans les cas ou une étan- chéité parfaite est nécessaire au niveau de l'assemblage, il est prévu de placer par refoulement à froid, et éventuellement collage simultané, une pas- tille emboutie en matière plastique qui se trouve automatiquement serrée par la contraction de la première pièce en matière plastique.
L'invention est illustrée par un exemple non limitatif d'une forme d'exécution représentée sur le dessin annexé.
La figure 1 est une coupe longitudinale d'un tube en plastique muni d'une pièce métallique d'assemblage suivant l'invention.
Figures 2 et 3 en sont des coupes transversales correspondant à 2 formes d'exécution différentes.
Sur la figure 1 on voit en 1 un élément tubulaire en chlorure

de vinyle, en 2 une pièce métallique cylindrique portant un élément d'as- semblage extérieur 11 (vis), en 3 une pastille de chlorure de polyvinyle.
Le tube 1 de section courante correspondant à un diamètre 4 a été emmanché à chaud, à température convenable , sur la pièce métalli que 2, dont le diamètre 5 est légèrement supérieur au diamètre 4, de tel- le façon que le tube 1 puisse, après refroidissement, serrer efficacement sur 2, à la fois par élasticité et par contraction. La pastille 3, portée par l'extrémité conique de 2 (en 6) , préalablement emboutie, et placée à froid sur le cône 6, se trouve pincée par son rebord périphérique entre la grande base du cône 6 et la paroi interne du tube 1 qui resserre sur elle.
Ce montage assure une parfaite étanchéité, aux liquides ou gaz entre l'in- térieur du tube 1, du côté 7 et l'extérieur du même tube.
En outre, au moment de l'assemblage, pendant que la pièce 1 en chlorure de polyvinyle est encore ramollie par la chaleur, cette matière est refoulée à l'intérieur d'une ou de plusieurs gorges 8 prévues dans la pièce métallique 2, ainsi qu'il est figuré en 9, dans la coupe transversale (fig. 2).
Après refroidissement et durcissement de la pièce 1, celle-ci est donc énergiquement serrée sur la pièce 2 et, de plus, au cas ou un effort supérieur à la résistance due au seul serrage de 1 sur'2 serait exercé dans un sens ou une direction telle que l'une des deux pièces soit quand même sol- licitée par rapport à l'autre en-rotation ou en traction (parallèlement à l'axe de symétrie xy), tout mouvement relatif de 1 par rapport à 2 serait to- talement rendu impossible par la pénétration et le durcissement de la matière de 1 dans les dites gorges 8.
Ces gorges peuvent avoir des formes et positions variées; leur nombre sur la pièce 2 peut varier.
Il est bien évident que l'on choisira ces formes et ces nombres, en harmonie avec la plasticité à chaud de la matière plastique utilisée et les possibilités de bonne pénétration de celle-ci dans les gorges ou rainu- res. Ces dernières pourraient à la rigueur se présenter sous forme d'un grand nombre de rainures comme représenté en 10 (fig. 3). Bien entendu le procédé de l'invention reste applicable lorsque la pièce en matière plastique a une forme autre que tubulaire, à condition qu'elle enveloppe au moins en partie la ou les pièces métalliques.
Les pièces très diverses pouvant être obtenues par l'assemblage suivant l'invention sont particulièrement avantageuses lorsqu'il s'agit de répondre à des efforts mécaniques, en même temps qu'à une résistance au courant électrique ou à des agentschimiques, etc. C'est le cas par exemple des perches ou barres isolantes pour manoeuvres sur lignes à haute tension, entretoises étanches aux liquides et non conducteurs de l'électricité, etc.

The present invention, which results from research carried out by Mr. Louis JULIENNE, relates to the assembly of plastic parts with metal parts, ceramics or other rigid materials.
The assembly, object of the present invention, is carried out by simultaneously using the contraction by cooling of a plastic material, previously heated, to obtain an energetic clamping on a metal part and a simultaneous impression of the plastic material in it. one or more grooves, grooves or grooves, to fix the two parts of the assembly immutably, in particular in rotation and in traction.
According to another feature of the invention, in cases where perfect sealing is required at the assembly level, provision is made to place by cold upsetting, and possibly simultaneous gluing, a stamped plastic pellet. which is automatically clamped by the contraction of the first plastic part.
The invention is illustrated by a non-limiting example of an embodiment shown in the accompanying drawing.

In Figure 1 we see at 1 a tubular element in chloride

of vinyl, in 2 a cylindrical metal part carrying an outer assembly member 11 (screw), in 3 a pellet of polyvinyl chloride.
The tube 1 of current section corresponding to a diameter 4 was hot-pressed, at a suitable temperature, on the metal part 2, the diameter 5 of which is slightly greater than the diameter 4, so that the tube 1 can, after cooling, effectively tighten to 2, both by elasticity and by contraction. The pellet 3, carried by the conical end of 2 (in 6), previously stamped, and placed cold on the cone 6, is clamped by its peripheral rim between the large base of the cone 6 and the internal wall of the tube 1 that tightens on it.
This assembly ensures perfect sealing against liquids or gases between the inside of the tube 1, on the side 7 and the outside of the same tube.
In addition, at the time of assembly, while the part 1 made of polyvinyl chloride is still softened by heat, this material is forced inside one or more grooves 8 provided in the metal part 2, thus that it is shown at 9, in the transverse section (fig. 2).
After cooling and hardening of the part 1, it is therefore energetically clamped on the part 2 and, moreover, in the event that a force greater than the resistance due to the sole clamping of 1 over '2 would be exerted in one direction or one direction such that one of the two parts is still solicited with respect to the other in rotation or in traction (parallel to the axis of symmetry xy), any relative movement of 1 with respect to 2 would be total tally made impossible by the penetration and hardening of the material of 1 in said grooves 8.
These grooves can have various shapes and positions; their number on part 2 may vary.
It is obvious that these shapes and numbers will be chosen, in harmony with the hot plasticity of the plastic material used and the possibilities of good penetration of the latter into the grooves or grooves. Strictly speaking, the latter could be in the form of a large number of grooves as shown at 10 (FIG. 3). Of course, the method of the invention remains applicable when the plastic part has a shape other than tubular, on condition that it at least partially envelops the metal part or parts.
The very diverse parts that can be obtained by the assembly according to the invention are particularly advantageous when it comes to responding to mechanical forces, at the same time as resistance to electric current or to chemical agents, etc. This is the case, for example, with insulating poles or bars for maneuvering on high voltage lines, spacers that are tight to liquids and not conductive of electricity, etc.
