CONDENSEUR A MELANGE.

MIXED CONDENSER.
Mixture condensers of very diverse construction are known in the form of injection condensers or trickle condensers, in particular for steam engines. Unlike surface condensers commonly employed in the art and comprising tubular bundles through which cooling water flows, mixing condensers offer the advantage of being inexpensive and space-saving. However, they have the big drawback that the condensate mixes with the cooling water, so that the condensate is not obtained in the pure state.
This drawback can be remedied, if the condensate itself is used as cooling water by leading it in a closed circuit through a direct or indirect air-cooled or water-cooled return condenser, and by taking off the amount of excess condensate in a more or less pure state.
However, the applicant company has found that very small condensation surfaces are sufficient for the vapors to be condensed, if the tubes in a vertical position, preferably glass tubes, provided with tangential or oblique openings for the admission of the liquid. of condensation, are at their upper ends mounted in a sealed manner in an intermediate base, these tubes connecting the space located above the intermediate base, in which the vapors to be condensed are allowed to enter, to the space if- killed below the intermediate bottom and connected to a vacuum pump.
In this arrangement, it is advantageous to mount below the tubes, on the inner wall of which the condensation liquid flows in a turbulent layer, a steering bottom, preferably of conical shape, provided with a central opening and intended to direct the liquid leaving the tubes towards the center of the container.
FIGS. 1 and 2 in the accompanying drawing represent in longitudinal and transverse section an exemplary embodiment of the inventive idea.

Inside the container 1, in which a vacuum has been made and which can be connected by means of the upper flange 2 to the exhaust pipe, for example of a steam turbine, are mounted the tubes of outlet 3 in vertical position, provided with tangential or oblique openings for the admission of liquid. In order to prevent the steam to be condensed coming from above passing over the outer wall of the tubes 3, the latter are mounted tightly in the intermediate base 5. Significant steam leaks cannot exert any harmful influence. since they are condensed in the lower part of the condenser. The liquid flowing from the tubes 3 is diverted through the directional bottom 6 towards the center of the container to keep the vacuum connection 7 free.
The liquid accumulated in the bottom 8, for example of conical shape, is caused by the pump 9 to pass through the return refrigerant 10, for example a finned refrigerator coil cooled by a current of air passing in the direction of the refrigerants. arrows, towards the liquid inlet opening 4 at the upper end of the discharge tubes 3. The quantity of excess condensate can be taken off at any point in the condensate circuit, for example at 11.
