WELL DUNCHING PROCESS BY THE FREEZING METHOD.
In patent No. 513,192 of July 29, 1952, a process for sinking mine shafts was described and placed under protection by the method of freezing by forming a wall of ice formed by the use of freezers comprising a metal tube. closed at the bottom and receiving a second metal tube open at the bottom and stopping at a certain distance from the bottom of the outer tube characterized in that the increase in depth can be safely achieved by the ice wall is obtained by reducing the coefficient of heat conductivity of the inner tube.
Experience has shown that instead of lining the interior freezer with an insulating material or constituting it entirely of insulating material, it may be advantageous in certain cases to replace the small inner tube with two concentric tubes, metallic or other?
Figures 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawings show two embodiments of a modified plant in accordance with the present invention.
In FIG. 1, the concentric tubes 11 and 12 housed in the outer tube 3 are freely free one inside the other from top to bottom, or are separated from distance to distance by perforated washers which maintain their spacing. The tube 12 rests at its upper part by a flange 3 on a flange 4 of the tube 11 which rests on a flange 5 of the outer tube 2.
In figure 2 ,. the two tubes 11 and 12 are connected to each other only at the base (as shown in 6)
In the first case, (fig. 1) the part of the liquid which, when freezing is started, will fill the interval between the tubes.

bes 1 and 12 will remain stagnant there and will already constitute some heat insulation.
In the second case, this gap between the tubes 11 and 12 will remain filled with air as long as the tubes are assembled in a sealed manner and this layer of air will itself serve as heat insulator.
CLAIMS.
1) Installation for the practice of the method according to the main patent characterized in that the inner tube of the freezer is replaced by two concentric metal tubes or others.
