PERFECTED DOUBLE-ACTING APPARATUS FOR OBTAINING RECTIFIED ALCOHOL
The direct distillation-rectification devices for alcohols include a distillation column responsible for exhausting the must of the alcohol it contains and for supplying low-degree alcoholic vapors at the top which are sent to a rectification column or The concentration of alcohol to the degree of 96/97 GL and the fractionation of impurities of head and tail takes place.
Such an apparatus comprises only one source of heating vapor at the base of the distillation column. The calories from this heating vapor are partly absorbed in the water in the condensers and partly in the vinasses; these calories are therefore lost.
The present invention consists in joining two distillation-rectification groups together and in using the calories usually lost coming from the first group to ensure the heating of the second group and thus to produce a double-effect steam apparatus.
This realization comes up against two difficulties in practice: first, the obligation to keep between the temperature of the alcoholic vapors leaving the first rectification column and the boiling temperature of the vinasse in the base of the tank. second distillation column, a difference of 10 to 12 C which is sufficient to cause a regular boiling of these vinasses if the transmission surface is correctly calculated. The other difficulty lies in the impossibility of completely condensing vapors rich in alcohol under a deep vacuum.
The provisions of the present invention provide a complete solution to these two difficulties.

The appended drawing shows schematically by way of example of an embodiment, the double-acting apparatus which is the subject of the invention.
This apparatus is essentially made up of two direct distillation-rectification groups which each retain their own supply of wort to be distilled and their extractions of rectified alcohol, head and tail products.
The first distillation-rectification group is made up as usual, of a distillation column A and a rectification column B with their usual satellites and in particular a vapor regulator E which will give the whole double-effect, a absolute operating stability because it controls the single heating source for the entire installation.
A pressure of 0 K. 350 above atmospheric pressure is given at the bottom of the distillation column. The boiling point of the stillage of the base will be established at approximately 108 C and the alcoholic vapors given off at the top of the rectification column B will be 88 C. The second group of distillation-rectification consists, like the first, of a distillation column C and a rectification column D and their usual satellites.
This second distillation-rectification unit operates under a medium vacuum (vacuum pump G) corresponding to an absolute tension of 200 m / m of mercury. Under such a vacuum, the alcoholic vapors given off at the top of the second rectification column D will have 48 C. From the top of this second rectification column D to the bottom of the second distillation column C, the pressure drop, due to of the large number of plates, will be about 100 m / m of mercury, the vacuum at the bottom of column C will therefore correspond to an absolute tension of 300 m / m of mercury, i.e. a boiling point of the vinasse of 76 vs.
There is therefore indeed between the vapors at 88 C from the top of the first rectification column B and the sludge boiling at 76 C in the base of the second distillation column C, the difference of 12 C necessary to ensure the heating of the second distillation-rectification group via a tubular or coil heater F as described in the improvement patent of January 30, 1951, No. 500,939 in the name of the applicant.
The stillage vapors from column A coming from F go through pipe 1-2 at the bottom of the distillation column C for heating the group C-D.
The condensation of the alcohol-rich vapors from the second rectification column D will be facilitated by the use of an average vacuum of 560 m / m of mercury, in addition the alcohol entrained by the air drawn in by the vacuum pump will be fully recovered by the absorber device H having been the subject of Belgian patent of August 14, 1950 n 497,577, in the name of the applicant.
In the appended drawing 1 is the loaded tank containing the wort to be distilled, part of this wort goes through the pipe 3 to enter, after passing through the exchanger J in the distillation column of the first group A.
Another part of the must goes through pipe 4 after passing through the exchanger K in the distillation column C of the 2nd group.
In the first group of distillation-rectification the rectified alcohol comes out by 5, the bottom products by 6, the fusel oils by 7, the top products by 8.
In the second group of distillation-rectification, these same products exit respectively through pipes 9 - 10 - 11 and 12, the vinasses of this second group are discharged through 13.
The double-acting apparatus thus produced can be constructed using all known types of direct distillation-rectification apparatus.
