MACHINE D'EPREUVE POUR TUBES, EN PARTICULIER POUR TUBES DE GRANDE LONGUEUR.
(Inventeur :C.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

TESTING MACHINE FOR TUBES, IN PARTICULAR FOR LONG LENGTH TUBES.
(Inventor: C. Hölzer).
Pressure testing machines for tubes are known, in which the latter are subjected to a hydraulic test. Known machines have a drive side, where there is a mechanically or hydraulically controlled clamping mandrel, which moves in the axial direction of the tube, in order to clamp the tube in the test position.
On the other side, that is to say, at the opposite end of the tube, there is a carriage with an adjustable position, on which the tube bears. A very long cradle is provided on the front face of the machine, intended to receive this carriage. It goes without saying that, in the case of very long tubes, this cradle must also have a very great length, so that it is strongly subjected to bending under the effect of the clamping and test pressures to which the tube, given that the lever arm which extends from the middle of the tube to the neutral axis of the cradle has a great length. Therefore, in the case of tubes of a considerable length, this cradle must be of a very strong and heavy construction.
In order to be able to eliminate this cradle in testing machines for tubes, and in accordance with the present invention, it is suggested to have two tie rods intended to receive the support carriage with variable position, so that these tie rods are located in the same plane as the axis of the tube to be tested. This results in a simple and easy construction of the whole machine.
In the practical embodiment of the invention, the tie rods in question simultaneously serve to guide the support carriage. The ends of the tie rods are mounted in trestles joined to each other by

profiled joists or the like.
To ensure the compensation of the self-weight of the tie-rods between the trestles, these tie-rods are connected to a lattice support system. The trays which bring the tubes to the test position and which withdraw them from it are established in such a way that the tubes to be tested are brought to the test position by passing below the tie rods o The transport trays are each formed by two discs which can occupy different relative positions by angular displacement around their axis, so that their notches can be adjusted for the reception of tubes of different diameters.
The accompanying drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of a testing apparatus for tubes according to the invention.
In this drawing:
Fig 1 is a side view.
Figo 2 is an anterior view.
Figo 3 is a sectional view of the transport system.
The frame of the machine consists, for example, of four profiled beams 1. At one end of these beams are located the control members enclosed in the housing 2. At the ends of the profiled beams 1 are also arranged the two trestles 3 and 4, between which are provided two tie rods 5 and 6. On the control side is arranged the clamping mandrel 7, hydraulically controlled for example.
At the other end of the machine is the support carriage 8, the position of which is controlled by a motor 9 via a gearbox 9. This support carriage is guided on the tie rods 5 and 6.
The test tube 11 is brought to the machine on an inclined plane 12 (Fig. 3). Below the tie rods 5 and 6 is arranged the main shaft 13, provided with the transport plates 14. These plates can be mounted axially on the main shaft 13. The transport plates 14 bring the tubes to be tested 11 in the test position, that is to say, in a position where the tube is located vertically from this shaft, above it. As can be seen from FIG. 1, the test tube 11 is then in the plane of the tie rods. Consequently, the tie rods 5 and 6 are only used for traction. In order to compensate for the own weight of the tie rods, a lattice support system 15 is provided above them.
The trays 14 used for transporting the tubes are made in such a way that the latter can be brought into the test position by passing under the tie rods 5 and 6. It can be seen in FIG. 3 that, when the tube is in the test position, it is held by a stop 16 located above it. After the test, and following a new angular displacement of the transport plates, the tubes are placed on an inclined plane 17.
Each of the transport trays can advantageously be constituted by two separate discs 14a and 14b (Figo 2) which can be displaced angularly with respect to each other around their center, in order to allow the installation of tubes of different diameters, and be wedged using screws 18 or similar members.
It is further seen in Figs. 2 and 3 that the support brackets 19 for the main shaft 13 can be moved using a handwheel 20. During this movement of the support brackets 19 the transport trays 14, fixed using flanges are also displaced in a suitable manner.
