PROCESS AND MACHINE FOR THE CONTINUOUS TREATMENT OF TEXTILE FIBERS, CARDING
UNTIL WINDING THE THREAD ON THE SPINDLES
The present invention relates to a method for the complete treatment of textile fibers in general, of various type and length, necessary for the transformation of prearranged fibers, by means of carding, 'into a "veil" or "mat" of superimposed sails, of carded or "half-combed" or "combed" fibers, in yarn completely ready for use and wound on the spindles.
The present invention also refers to the machine provided for carrying out said transformation, according to the method in question.
In particular, the present invention also relates to a method capable of allowing the complete transformation of the textile material from the condition, in which it is produced by normal sets or carding batteries, to the condition of wound yarn, by means of a machine. single, also constituting the subject of the present patent, and which can be, directly and continuously, supplied by said carding battery, by carrying out said transformation without requiring the passage of the textile material through intermediate working conditions to be carried out by several machines , more exactly, the use of the method and of the machine make it possible, according to the invention, to eliminate the drawback due to the need to assemble the wicks, produced by floating strips of veil in a carded mattress, on cans,
to transport said cans to the spinning equipment, obviously with the inconveniences and loads due to the numerous winding, transport and unwinding operations and with the resulting complication,
which concerns carding and spinning machines, which must be fitted with devices for mounting the bobbins and for winding and unwinding the wicks respectively.
In addition, the machine according to the present invention makes it possible to greatly reduce the size of the installation necessary for the transformation of the textile material, produced by the carding battery, into yarn wound up and ready for use.
The object of the invention is achieved, given that the method in question consists in dividing longitudinally the web produced by the carding battery and uniformly conveyed to the machine according to the invention, into a plurality of longitudinal strips of specific width. allow the transformation into wicks, to subdivide said bands into a plurality of groups, in which are included the bands which are not adjacent to each other, to transport the bands of each group in a battery of float devices, spinners and winders, the batteries being arranged in positions different from each other, spaced apart in a direction substantially coinciding with the direction of arrival and transport of the carded textile material and webs,
so as to obtain the continuous supply of several batteries of said devices by strips, wicks and yarns, spaced from each other to a sufficient extent to allow the construction and operation of the various devices included in each battery, maintaining the transverse dimensions of said batteries substantially in line with the width of the carded web or mat.
Consequently, the method according to the invention makes it possible to produce a single machine, which can work and transform the carded material into a finished product and wound up on spindles, as it is produced by the carding machines, which was not possible until now because the high number of bands, according to which the veil or the mattress must be shared, requires the use of a corresponding number of spinning and winding devices, which, in a single battery , would occupy a space appreciably greater than that of the width of the veil and the mattress, and would require, in order to receive the individual wicks, an excessive divergence of these wicks, to the point of prejudicing the integrity of said wicks, while also rendering excessively bulky equipment.
For this reason, it has heretofore been necessary to have recourse to the method consisting in assembling the wicks produced on cans to effect their subdivision and transport to the separate spinning batteries.
For example, considering that we produce a carded, or half-combed, or combed mattress, of the normal width of 1.88 m and that this is normally divided into 160 bands, in order to obtain yarns of A normal titer, all this being considered, a battery of spinning and winding devices for 160 bits would have a linear development of about 7.50 to 8.00 m, therefore without being able to be directly and continuously supplied by the carding machine.
By making use of the method according to the invention, the 160 bands, on the other hand, are alternately distributed, for example, in four groups of 40 bands each, in which the bands are separated from each other by a space equal to the width of three bands. (i.e. of the three bands included in the other groups), sufficient for the construction and mounting of the respective devices, while the overall width of each battery can perfectly be contained within the width of the sail or the mast.
<EMI ID = 1.1>
In addition, an assembly comprising a plurality of spinning and winding batteries, individually of reduced width, preferably arranged in groups of two batteries each, dorsally opposed, can be of very limited space, while allowing access and Control
-easy of all the devices included in each battery.
Hereinafter is given a detailed description of an example indicative, but not limiting, of an implementation of the invention, in the general application of the principles which characterize the method and in an embodiment of a machine, made by applying these principles. Such a description refers to the accompanying figures.
Figure 1 is a diagram showing said principle of subdividing bands into groups and transporting the same bands to various positions, Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the application diagram - <EMI ID = 2.1> Figure 3 is a partial view, from above, of the system-divider and conveyor of the machine. - Figure 4 is a schematic side view of the divider device <EMI ID = 3.1> Figure 5 shows, in perspective, the arrangement of the conveyor means being in the apparatus of Figure 5, Figure 6 shows a side view of an embodiment of the control devices of the operating parts of the machine.
The principle of the process consists, according to the diagram in figure
1 to subdivide the bands, along which the web or the carded mattress is longitudinally divided, of any normal width L, into several groups, for example into four groups, in each of which are included non-adjacent and preferably regularly alternating bands in their transverse progression; the method also comprises transporting the tapes of each group to a different position from that in which the tapes belonging to the other groups are transported, for example the tapes of
<EMI ID = 4.1>
different batteries of spinning and winding apparatus, which consequently receive bands, and then the wicks and yarns derived from said bands, separated from each other by a space i, sufficient for the assembly and operation of the spinning and in particular winding devices, side by side in each individual battery.
Preferably, according to the diagram of FIG. 2 and also according to the diagram of FIG. 3, a machine according to the invention comprises means capable of transporting, in direction A, a web or mat 10 of carded textile fibers, to the above the machine itself, deflecting it downwards to introduce it, with a substantially vertical direction according to indication 11, into a divider and conveyor apparatus, which carries out the process according to the diagram in figure 1. Said means of transport may be constituted, for example, by a normal conveyor belt.
The divider and conveyor apparatus is produced, according to the invention, so as to include conveyor means 12 and 13, which receive
and transport the ribbons obtained from the material 11, alternately in the directions indicated B and 0, so that in the transported material 14
or 15, consist of ribbons, separated from each other by an equal empty space
to the width of the tapes transported in the opposite direction. In addition, the apparatus comprises other means of separation, by faction of which the spaced ribbons, comprised in the material 14 or 15, are in turn divided into two series,
<EMI ID = 5.1>
floats, spinners and reels.
In particular, the ribbons, included in the material 14, are alternately divided into two series 18 and 19, each comprising ribbons separated by an empty space equal to the width of three ribbons and which are completed.
<EMI ID = 6.1>
material 15 is divided into two corresponding series 20 and 21, which, in the direction E or G, are conveyed into the float bags 24 and 25. Consequently, at the outlet of said float bags (22, 23 ,. 24 and 25) , one obtains wicks, spaced apart according to the indication, and which, respectively in the directions H, M, N and 0, are conveyed in the drawing apparatuses producing the yarn, which is then wound respectively on the pins of the batteries 26, 27, 28 and 29, batteries which are achievable so as to remain in transverse dimensions of bulk, substantially equal to the width of the mattress 10, each of them comprising only one quarter of the pins necessary for the 'winding all the achievable yarns of said mattress.'
Preferably, 'said divider and conveyor apparatus comprises a plurality of contiguous laces, moreover of the' known type, realizing -in '
<EMI ID = 7.1> <EMI ID = 8.1>
in as many ribbonso Preferably, said laces are arranged, as
is shown in Figure 5, in which, by solid lines or inter-
broken, the two adjacent laces are shown, the same arrangement being reproduced for the entire width of the device and said laces rotating around a system of rollers, as shown in FIG. 4.
Referring to said Figures 4 and 5, the apparatus comprises a
pair of central cylinders rotating in the opposite direction 31 and 32, between which the laces, arranged as shown with a solid line
<EMI ID = 9.1>
already indicated B, the laces pass over the roller 83, to descend in direction D above the roller 35, following a section 34 in which the lace
undergoes an inversion of 1800., to transport the ribbon below this
section and for its abandonment in the float bag 23. By means of the rollers
36 and 37, the lace is brought between the central rollers 31 and 32, between the

of the roll 42, following a section 41, in which it undergoes another inversion of 1800 for the transport of the following tape in direction G, in the bag
float 25, the crossed lace ring closing again at point 33, at

rollers 39 and 49, lead the next ribbon in direction E in the dry flow

ment to groups 16 and 17.
Preferably, finally, the machine comprises transmission mechanisms, capable of imposing on the various means cooperating in sharing, transport,
floating and stretching of the material at speeds proportional to the speed of advance of said material in the various stages of the work. Through
example, as shown in Figure 6, the machine comprises a single motor 51, which, through a gear 52 which carries an example
suitable transmission and possibly reduction device, puts
in motion, the gears 53 and 54 integral with the central rollers 31 and 32.
By the action of the gear 54 and by means of an intermediate gear 55,
the gear 56 is set in motion for the movement of the conveyor belt
57, which feeds the carded material from the machine in direction A. From the gear 53, we obtain the movement of a gear 58, which drives a chain 59,
which in turn drives the gears 60, 61 and 62, respectively secured

respective stretching. The series of devices included in the symmetrical right half of the machine is controlled symmetrically.
