PERFECTIONNEMENTS AUX BILLARDS AMERICAINS.
L'invention est relative aux billards dits "américains", du type dans lequel une bille lancée par le joueur provoque par son choc contre des champignons à contact électrique, portés par la table du billard, le déclen- chement d'un compteur, des butées étant prévues pour repousser la bille con- tre les susdits champignons, en vue d'obtenir une accumulation de points.
Conformément à l'invention,le champignon contacteur disposé au sommet de la table du billard occupe le centre d'un polygone, de préférence un quadrilatère, formé d'écrans porteurs d'un cable ou d'une bande élastique susceptible de repousser vers le champignon contacteur central la bille par- venue à s'engager entre les écrans supérieurs avant de-s'échapper par l'in- tervalle compris entre les écrans inférieurs.
Suivant une forme préférée de l'invention, le quadrilatère est formé de deux écrans triangulaires supérieurs symétriques et de deux écrans rectilignes inférieurs également symétriquement disposés.
Conformément aussi à l'invention, les écrans sont recouverts par une plaque transparenteportant un sujet quelconque ou un motif décoratif, qui sera illuminé par un éclairage prévu dans l'écran.
La disposition donnée au contacteur supérieur permet de réaliser un effet de mitraillette, qui augmente considérablement l'intérêt du jeu.
Le dessin annexé à ce mémoire représente, à titre d'exemple uni- quement, un billard américain du type visé, perfectionné conformément à l'invention. Dans ce dessin,

Comme le montre spécialement la Fig. 1, sur la table 1 du billard

sont montés de manière connue, avec leurs connexions électriques habituelles, des champignons contacteurs 2, dont celui désigné par 2a est situé vers le sommet de la table 1.
Conformément à l'invention, le champignon 2a forme le centre d'un quadrilatère formé à la partie supérieure par deux écrans 3 de forme trian- gulaire, et de deux écrans inférieurs 6 de forme rectiligne. Ces écrans sont disposés symétriquement par rapport à l'axe longitudinal de la table en lais- sant respectivement un intervalle supérieur et un intervalle inférieur pour le passage de la bille.
Les écrans 3 et 6 sont constitués par de petites colonnes 4 suppor- tant un cable ou une bande élastique disposée parallèlement au plan de la ta- ble 1. Ce câble ou cette bande sera de préférence En caoutchouc.. mais on peut utiliser dans le même but une lame élastique ou un ressort.
On conçoit aisément que la bille que le joueur aura réussi à faire pénétrer entre les écrans triangulaires 3 sera repoussée par le champignon central 2a contre les écrans 3 ou 6, qui à leur tour la renverra contre ce dernier successivement en produisant un effet de "mitraillette", qui intéres- se particulièrement les joueurs.
Des écrans du même type que les écrans élastiques 3 et 6 sont avantageusement répartis le long des bords latéraux de la table 1, ainsi que contre la paroi antérieure de celle-ci.
Conformément à l'invention également, les écrans élastiques 3, et éventuellement aussi les écrans élastiques 6, sont recouverts chacun par une plaquette transparente 8 sur laquelle on a représenté une figure décorative, par exemple une baigneuse ou une danseuse, comme il est représenté à gauche en Fig. 1. Ces plaquettes 8 sont maintenues par des vis enfoncées dans les pe- tites colonnes 4 et elles sont éclairées par des lampes montées dans des soc- kets 7 prévus dans le fond des écrans.
En Figure 2,9 désigne le compteur de points.
REVENDICATIONS.

Billard américain du type dans lequel une bille lancée par le joueur provoque par son choc contre des champignons à contact électrique , portés par la table du billard, le déclenchement d'un compteur, des butées étant prévues pour repousser la bille contre les susdits champignons, en vue d'obtenir une accumulation de points, caractérisé en ce que le champi- gnon contacteur disposé au sommet de la table du billard occupe le centre d'un polygone, de préférence un quadrilatère, formé d'écrans porteurs d'un cable ou. d'une bande ou d'une lame élastique susceptible de repousser vers le champignon contacteur central la bille parvenue à s'engager entre les écrans supérieurs avant de s'échapper par l'intervalle compris entre les écrans inférieurs.

IMPROVEMENTS IN AMERICAN BILLIARDS.
The invention relates to so-called "American" billiards, of the type in which a ball thrown by the player causes, by its impact against electrically contacting mushrooms, carried by the billiard table, the triggering of a counter, stops being provided to push the ball against the aforesaid mushrooms, with a view to obtaining an accumulation of points.
According to the invention, the contactor mushroom arranged at the top of the billiard table occupies the center of a polygon, preferably a quadrilateral, formed of screens carrying a cable or an elastic band capable of pushing back towards the central contactor mushroom ball the ball has managed to engage between the upper screens before escaping through the gap between the lower screens.

are mounted in a known manner, with their usual electrical connections, contactor mushrooms 2, of which the one designated by 2a is located towards the top of the table 1.
According to the invention, the mushroom 2a forms the center of a quadrilateral formed at the upper part by two screens 3 of triangular shape, and two lower screens 6 of rectilinear shape. These screens are arranged symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal axis of the table, leaving respectively an upper gap and a lower gap for the passage of the ball.
The screens 3 and 6 are formed by small columns 4 supporting a cable or an elastic band disposed parallel to the plane of the table 1. This cable or this band will preferably be made of rubber .. but it can be used in the field. same purpose an elastic blade or a spring.
It is easy to see that the ball that the player has succeeded in making penetrate between the triangular screens 3 will be pushed back by the central mushroom 2a against the screens 3 or 6, which in turn will send it back against the latter successively by producing a "machine gun" effect. Screens of the same type as the elastic screens 3 and 6 are advantageously distributed along the lateral edges of the table 1, as well as against the front wall of the latter.
Also according to the invention, the elastic screens 3, and possibly also the elastic screens 6, are each covered by a transparent plate 8 on which there is shown a decorative figure, for example a bather or a dancer, as shown in left in Fig. 1. These plates 8 are held by screws driven into the small columns 4 and they are lit by lamps mounted in sockets 7 provided in the bottom of the screens.

CLAIMS.
1. American billiards of the type in which a ball thrown by the player causes by its impact against mushrooms with electric contact, carried by the billiard table, the triggering of a counter, stops being provided to push the ball against the aforesaid mushrooms, in order to obtain an accumulation of points, characterized in that the contactor mushroom placed at the top of the billiard table occupies the center of a polygon, preferably a quadrilateral, formed of screens carrying a cable or. a band or an elastic blade capable of pushing back towards the central contactor mushroom the ball which has managed to engage between the upper screens before escaping through the gap between the lower screens.
