<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

ACCESSORY FOR WHEELS.
The present invention relates to an accessory for grinding wheels, in particular for working with stone and similar materials.
Its purpose is to allow dust aspiration while ensuring easy and convenient work.
To this end, the accessory according to the invention comprises a wall, substantially cylindrical, arranged around a part of the grinding wheel and the cross section of which is an arc of a circle of approximately 270 degrees, this wall extending substantially up to 'at the working surface of the grinding wheel and being connected to a dust suction pipe.
In an advantageous embodiment, the wall is mounted on a ring, which cannot rotate, by means of an elastic circle housed in a groove formed partially in the wall and partially in the corresponding part of the ring.
In another particular embodiment of the invention, the aforesaid ring is integral with rods parallel to the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel, these rods passing through holes made in a fixed sleeve, screws. lock keeping them in the desired position.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of an installation in accordance with the invention, a description given below by way of non-limiting example and with reference to the appended drawings.
Figure 1 is an overview of part of the installation.
LafLgure 2 is an overview of the other part of the installation.
FIG. 3 is a view in elevation and in section on line III-III of FIG. 4, of the grinding wheel attachment itself.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Figure 4 is a plan view corresponding to Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a detail view.
In the various figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements.
The installation shown comprises a carriage 1 mounted on wheels and supporting a motor 2 which, by a transmission 3 actuates a flexible 4 which rotates a grinding wheel 5, which can also be seen in Figures 3 and 4. In the latter, ' the parts concerning the grinding wheel and its assembly are shown in broken lines. The grinding wheel is mounted in the usual way and is surrounded by a cylindrical wall 6 over an arc of about 270 degrees, i.e. the cross section of the cylindrical wall 6 is an arc of 270 degrees. At the base of this wall is fixed a U-shaped rubber seal 7 which is held in position by screws 8. This seal 7 is intended to rest on the stone or similar material that is being worked on. grinding wheel 5.
Because of its shape, this seal can also be slightly crushed and compensate for the minimal wear of the grinding wheel. For greater wear it is necessary to have recourse to another adjustment which will be described below.
The wall 6, the axis of which is the same as that around which the grinding wheel 5 rotates, is mounted on a ring 9 by means of an elastic circle formed by a wire 10 which is housed in a groove 11 formed partially in the ring. 9 and in the cylindrical wall 6. In this way it is possible, by acting manually on the wall 6, to make it pivot about its axis so as to bring about the opening of this wall, that is to say the arc d 'approximately 90 degrees over which the wheel is uncovered in any position favorable to the performance of the work.
In the ring 9 are screwed four rods 12 threaded into corresponding holes made in lugs 13 of a fixed sleeve 15. Two set screws 14 make it possible to hold at least two of the rods 12 in the desired position, which makes it possible to catch up , as indicated above, somewhat significant wear of the grinding wheel.
In the sleeve 15 is mounted a removable mouthpiece 16 connected to a suction pipe 17 which can be found in Figures 1 and 2.
This pipe is in communication with a fan 18 which brings the dust into a cyclone 19 in connection with a fleece bag 20 which can be removed to remove the dust collected.
The mouth 16 is mounted in the sleeve 15 by a bayonet seal, the detail of which can be seen in FIG. 5. Two rods such as 21 can be held in the joining position by wing nuts 22.
If you wish to replace the grinding wheel, the nuts 22 are unscrewed, the seal is rotated so as to release the mouth 16 which can be removed at the same time as the pipe 17. The axis of the grinding wheel is then perfectly accessible.
The devices described are particularly simple and make it easy to follow the work of the grinding wheel.
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described above and that many modifications can be made to the latter without departing from the scope of this patent.
