ROBINET D'ARRET A BILLE.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
La fige 1 représente une coupe longitudinale à travers un robinet de retenue à bille conforme à l'invention;

BALL SHUT-OFF VALVE.
In known ball shut-off valves fitted with a retaining ball pressed by a spring on a sealing ring-. And with an operating shaft made resistant to the action of the pressure of the liquid, the pressure the spring resting on a closing piece acts on a special pressure ring placed against the ball. On the opposite side there is a thick elastic sealing ring which slides on the ball, is pressed on its seat by the pressure of the ball and is therefore subjected to friction and significant forces. In order to absorb the axial pressure exerted on the operating shaft, the latter is provided with a stop pin which moves in a round slot in the housing. Since this ankle can only withstand pressures of limited magnitude, the operating pressure of retaining valves of this type is limited.
The object of the invention is an embodiment which simplifies the construction and eliminates the drawbacks described.
In order to avoid the use of a particular pressing ring, according to the invention, the spring is constructed as a conical coil spring and rests directly on the ball. In addition, the sealing ring is constructed as a metal bearing ring movably mounted in the direction of flow (floating) and provided with a thin sealing coating resting on the ball. , and a seal ring is disposed between it and the surface of the housing on which it axially rests. In order that this sealing ring is not pushed inwards under the pressure of the metal support ring, it is recommended to forge circular grooves in the surfaces of the housing and the support ring. embracing the sealing ring.
But it is also possible to vulcanize the sealing ring and the gasket on the support ring. Finally, the valve is made usable at very high pressures due to the fact that the operating shaft is screwed into a thread of the housing. For

to see then easily replace the sealing element of the operating shaft, it is advisable to form the operating shaft of two parts superimposed in the direction of the length, which are connected to each other after having been mounted in the accommodation. In particular, the two parts of the maneuvering axis can be connected to one another by a transverse pin which at the same time serves as a stop to limit the rotation of the axis.
An example of construction of the invention is shown in the drawing:
Figure 1 shows a longitudinal section through a ball check valve according to the invention;
Figure 2 is a plan view of the dismantled handle, partly in section.
Fig 3 represents part of the longitudinal section according to FIG. 1 on a larger scale and
Fig 4 is a view partly in section of the two parts of the maneuvering axis.
In the form of construction according to figure 1, a retaining ball 2 pierced right through is mounted so as to be able to rotate in a valve housing 1, by means of an operating shaft 4 by a coupling with spring and groove 3. On the side facing towards the liquid inlet, the retaining ball 2 rests on a metal ring 5, which carries on its bearing surface of the ball a relatively thin seal 6 , glued, pressed or vulcanized in a notch of the support ring 5. The back 7 of the support ring 5 rests via a flat sealing ring 8 on a surface 9 of the housing. Each of the surfaces 7 and 9 has two circular grooves 10 or 11 respectively.
Under the pressure of the ball, the sealing ring 8 is compressed in the circular grooves 10 and 11 and thus prevents it from coming loose inward. Alternatively, the flat seal ring 8 can be vulcanized to the backing ring 5 as well as the seal 6, so that the three parts 5, 6 and 8 form one. alone. On the current input side, a closing part 12 drilled right through is screwed into the housing and presses against the retaining ball 2 a coil spring 13 of conical shape so that the spring rests directly on the ball. As a result, a particular pressing ring usually used heretofore is omitted. The operating shaft 4 is constructed in two parts and comprises an inner part 14 carrying the groove of the spring-groove coupling 3.
On this part is applied an outer part 15 which is screwed by a screw thread into an internal thread 16 of the housing 1 and which is thus safely prevented from moving along the axis even for very high pressures. The small axial displacements which appear when the operating shaft is rotated to move the retaining ball have no influence of any kind on the movement of the ball because they are absorbed by the spring coupling. and groove. The divided construction of the operating shaft allows easy replacement of the seal 17; for this purpose, the inner part 14 with the seal is first inserted, the spring-groove coupling 3 is fitted, and the outer part 15 is then screwed on.
The parts 14 and 15 of the maneuvering shaft are interconnected by a pin 18 which moves on the seat of the shaft between abutment surfaces 19.
To turn the axis, a hand grip or a removable handwheel is provided.
