<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

FILTER DEVICE, FOR SHOOTING DEVICE.
The invention relates to a device adaptable to a camera, such as a photographic, cinematographic or similar camera. This device can make it possible, depending on the case, either to obtain artistic effects, or to remove annoying defects or reflections.
The filter device according to the invention comprises a part intersecting the axis of the objective, a part intersecting the axis of the viewfinder and, at least, one filter capable of coming successively from one to the other of said parts to be placed successively in the axis of the viewfinder and in the axis of the objective.
The invention will now be described with reference to embodiments given by way of examples and represented in the appended drawings, from which various characteristics of the invention will emerge.
Fig. 1 is a side view of a device according to the invention mounted on a lens of a photographic apparatus, this apparatus itself being shown only schematically.
Fig. 2 is a front view of the device shown in FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to that of fig 2 of an alternative embodiment of the device according to the invention shown figs 1 and 2.
Fig. 4 is a view similar to that of figs 2 and 3 of a variant embodiment.
Fig. 5 is a front view of another variant embodiment of a device according to the invention.
The device according to the invention shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 comprises a plate 1 pierced with orifices in which are placed filters 2 in an even number, the axes of which are on a circumference concentric with the plate 1, the axes of the filters of each pair being arranged on the same dia-

meter from the shelf.
Each filter can rotate in its housing in the plate 1 and has at the periphery a rough surface constituted for example by a tooth which can be actuated by the finger 4 of the operator,
Each filter 2 can come in front of a viewfinder 5 shown diagrammatically in FIG. 1. You can then choose, then orient the filter, by rotating the plate l, until the desired decorative effect or correction is obtained.
The filters 2 can be, for example, tinted or colored or else be polarizing filters. The position of each filter 2 in front of the viewfinder 5 can be determined by an elastic device comprising a spring 6 housed in a part 7 and pushing a ball 8 against the periphery of the plate 1 in which there are housings 9. These housings are formed. placed so that the filters 2 can come in the axis of the viewfinder 5 or in one axis of the lens 10 of the camera.
It should be noted that in the embodiment of FIGS. 1 and 2, since the filters 2 are in even number, if polarizing filters 2 are used, one of the filters through which one observes, thanks to the viewfinder , can come to occupy a position relative to the lens 10, identical to that which it occupies relative to the viewfinder.
Having therefore adjusted the camera by observing through the viewfinder 5 and a filter 2, it suffices to turn the plate 1 and bring the filter 2 in question in the axis of the objective 10 to be certain of obtaining a taking pictures corresponding to the effect obtained by looking through the viewfinder 5.
The camera 11 has only been shown schematically in phantom lines.
Fig 3 represents an alternative embodiment in which the plate 1,, comprises an odd number of filters 2.
In this case, it is necessary that each filter rotates by a certain angle around its axis while passing from the position which it occupies in the axis of the viewfinder 5 to that which it must occupy in the axis of. the objective 10, in order to occupy identical positions in these two positions. To achieve this goal, an element 12 comprising a rough surface 13, toothed for example, is placed near the plate 1 so that the rough or toothed periphery of the filters 2 meshes with this surface 13 and that the filters 2 are driven in rotation. The length of the rough surface 13 is calculated so that the filter 2 which appears successively in the axis of the viewfinder and in the axis of the objective takes identical positions.
FIG, 4 shows an alternative embodiment in which the plate 1 comprises an annular filter 14 ranging from a light shade at 15 to a dark shade at 16. This annular filter moves in the axis of the viewfinder 5 and in line with the objective 10.
In order to enable the same portion of the annular filter to be brought successively into the axis of the viewfinder 5 and into the axis of the objective 10, the plate 1 has at the periphery two successive identical graduations 17 and 18. When has adjusted the device by observing through the viewfinder 5, the corresponding indication of the graduation 17 is read opposite an index 19, then the plate 1 is turned so as to bring the same indication of the graduation 18 in front of the index 19, and one is sure to have brought in the axis of the objective the portion of the annular filter 15 through which one observed previously by looking into the viewfinder 5.
FIG. 5 finally shows a last embodiment in which a filter band 20 ranging, for example, from a light shade to a dark shade moves successively in front of a viewfinder 21 and behind a lens 22. This band is bordered by a graduation 23.
The position of the filter band can be traced, at the time of observation through the sight 21, by means of an index 24 disposed under the sight. We can then bring behind the objective 22 the portion of the filter 20

through which the viewfinder 21 has been observed, by placing in front of an index 25, placed under the lens, the graduation shown previously thanks to the index 24. To allow this measurement, the lens support is pierced with a window 26 which shows the graduation 23.
Of course, the invention is not limited by the embodiments which have just been described with reference to the appended drawings, these can undergo detailed modifications without departing from the scope of the invention. .
