On décrira d'autres détails de l'invention en se référant aux dessins ci-joints, qui représentent quelques exemples de réalisation et dans lesquels ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

COLUMN LEG FOR A HEIGHT AND SIDE ADJUSTABLE SEAT.
The invention relates to a column stand for a seat adjustable in height as well as laterally, in particular for the driver's seat of a motor vehicle or for a similar seat, comprising a guide tube supporting the seat and arranged so as to be able to rotate and slide axially in the foot housing.
In a column stand of known type, such as that frequently used for swivel and height-adjustable office chairs, the pivot of the seat is guided so as to be able to slide axially in a sleeve rotatably mounted in the foot housing. Under these conditions, the pivot, which is hollow, can be locked after adjustment in different heights by means of a locking mechanism passing through the pivot in its middle and engaging in stop notches of which the sleeve is provided.
However, such a device has the drawback of not allowing lateral immobilization of the seat; moreover, its construction is relatively complicated by the locking mechanism mounted in the pivot, not to mention that this construction compromises the stability of the seat.
The object of the invention is a column foot, for a seat adjustable in height and laterally, with which these drawbacks are avoided by virtue of the fact that the guide tube guided in the housing of the foot is provided with a comb-shaped toothing for a height adjustment lever mounted in the housing, engaging this toothing and supporting the tube, as well as one or more vertical longitudinal grooves, also for a lateral adjustment lever mounted in the housing and which can be rotated to engage it in one or the other of these grooves as appropriate.
Further details of the invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, which show some embodiments and in which;

Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the column stand in combination with a driver's seat.
Fig. 2 is a section through the column foot by line A-B of FIG. 1, and
Fig. 3 is a section of the foot by the line C-D of FIG. 2.
Fig. 4 is a section corresponding to FIG. 2, of another model from foot to column, while
Fig. 5 is a section taken along the line II-II of FIG. 4.
The adjustable driver's seat shown in fig. 1 is provided with a seat surface 1 which can slide longitudinally and with a backrest 2 articulated in rotation on this surface 1 and mounted with it in a frame 3 in the form of a frame resting on its side on the column foot S. As This involves, in particular in public means of transport served by a single man, making sure that the driver's seat can be adjusted not only in height, but also laterally, the column pedestal of the seat. conductor constructed according to the invention is provided with devices allowing this adjustment.
To this end, the column foot S first has a guide tube 7 rotating and sliding axially in the longitudinal bore 5 of the housing 6 of the foot, and the head end of which carries the plate 8 for fixing the foot. frame 3 in the form of a frame. The actual guiding of the tube 7 in the bore 5 of the housing is effected by means of the guide collar 9 which is made integral with the tube 7 by a transverse pin 8 'and which surrounds the tube 7 approximately half, in its lower part. The guide collar 9 is provided with longitudinal grooves 10 directed axially and distributed uniformly over its entire periphery.
A cylindrical bush 11 mounted to rotate relative to the guide tube 7 in the upper half of this tube can slide axially in the bore of the housing and carries the tube 7 by means of a bronze pressure ring 12. or similar material and the marginal flange 13. A longitudinal groove 14 in which slides a guide pin 15 screwed into the housing 6 prevents the bushing 11 from rotating with respect to this housing 6. The length of the groove 14 is as it corresponds to the lifting height of the tube 7. In its lowest position, the guide tube 7 rests on the ground or the floor by the rubber pad 17 fixed to its support plate. bottom 16.
Now, so that the guide tube 7, which can be removed therefrom, can be fixed in height in the housing ó, the cylindrical bush 11 is provided with a toothing in the form of a comb 18 cooperating with an adjusting lever. height 20 mounted in the housing 6 and able to rotate around a pivot 19. In the locked position, the nose 21 of the lever 20, which is biased by the helical compression spring 22, engages in one stops of the toothing 18, which means that the bush 11 and the guide tube 7 are immobilized in the position in question. As can be seen directly in fig. 2, the socket 11 can be unlocked by actuating the pedal lever 20.
The lateral fixing of the guide tube 7 in the housing 6 is ensured by means of the longitudinal grooves 10 made in the guide collar 9 and cooperating with a second lever mounted to rotate around the pivot 23 in the housing 6, the hand lever 24, the nose 25 of which is engaged in each position, under the action of the leaf spring 26, in one or the other of the longitudinal grooves 10, as the case may be. By a slight partial lateral rotation of the lever 24, the guide tube 7 can be released with a view to its rotation.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The housing 6 is provided with two diametrically opposed reinforcing ribs 27, made in the form of pockets and intended to serve each as a housing for a lever 20 and respectively 24. The pockets cover the levers almost completely outwards, with so that the outer walls of the column base are smooth and continuous.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the guide tube 7 is made in one piece, the annular sleeve 11 movable in rotation being omitted, and it is provided with annular grooves 23 machined on the upper periphery of the tube and constituting the toothing in the form of a comb for fixing after height adjustment. The grooves 28, which are parallel to each other, have, with the exception of the lowest groove, a trapezoidal cross-section, so that the intermediate annular beads 29 remaining between the grooves have slanted parts 30 in the form of roofs. . The locking beak 21 of the height adjustment lever 20, which beak engages in one or the other of the grooves 28, as the case may be, is provided with a lower edge 31 cut in a bevel. corresponding way.
This has the effect that when the seat and with it the guide tube 7 are pulled up, the locking beak 21 can slide up and down without appreciable friction or wear on the part 30, cut in bi-. bucket in the form of a roof, annular beads 29, and that the lever 20 for adjusting the height and retaining it can move aside laterally. To make it impossible to remove the guide tube completely, by mistake, the rear part of the lower edge 31, as well as the lower delimiting edge 32 of the lower groove are cut horizontally. , so that these parts, which are superimposed when the guide tube 7 is raised to the maximum, form an upper delimiting stop.
To remove the tube completely, it is therefore also necessary to actuate the height adjustment lever 20 at the same time.
For the lateral fixing of the seat, a longitudinal groove 10 directed transversely with respect to the grooves 28 is machined in the guide tube 7 of the column foot of FIGS. 4 and 5, and cooperates with a safety pin 33 sliding radially in the housing 6 and 27 respectively of the foot. This ankle is provided with a longitudinal spider 34, in which engages the free end 25 of the lateral adjustment lever 24 which can rotate around the axis 23. The end 25 of the lever 24, which is biased by the leaf spring 26, maintains the safety pin 33 by its end surface 35 in the longitudinal groove. 10. To rotate the seat sideways, lever 24 is actuated.
The end 25 of this lever then moves the safety pin 33 outwards, via its roller, 36 'mounted on a transverse pin 36, so that the end surface 35 comes out. engaging with the longitudinal groove 10 and that the guide tube 7 is unlocked laterally.
In order that the height adjustment of the seat can be carried out in the simplest way and without having to lift the entire weight of the seat each time, a compression spring 37 serving to compensate the weight is arranged to the interior of the guide tube 7; this spring is supported on a closing plate 38 screwed into the housing 6 of the foot and covering the guide of the tube from below, and it presses on the head plate 8 of the guide tube 7.
