Les coins an-

SEAL FOR BALLOTS, PARCELS, BAGS AND OTHERS.
The present invention relates to a seal for joining the ends of a link such as a twine cord, for example, and more especially serving as a seal for a parcel, bundle, package and the like.
In general., Seals and other seals are currently used in order to prevent the tie closing a package from being detached in order to allow its contents to be released; the seals. ,, in the most usual manner ,,, consist of a small lead disc, hollowed out internally for the passage of the two free ends of a string enclosing a package., bag or the like. This lead is crushed using special pliers in order to tighten and pinch the free strands of a string holding a package in question closed.
It has already been observed that it is not only difficult but also laborious to introduce the free strands of a string into the lead recess. Also, had we already thought of replacing the small lead disc hollowed out by two adjacent metal washers of a very different diameter, these washers being superimposed after interposition of the ends of the link to be joined; the edges of the larger washer were folded over the second. Practice shows that the affixing of these seals is long and requires the use of special and bulky pliers to join the two washers.
The object of the present invention is to obviate these drawbacks and essentially resides in a seal consisting of a thin metal strip folded in the form of a loop ,, characterized in that one of the branches of the loop is extended by a tab which when closing the loop slips into an eyelet formed on the internal face of 1-'other branch means being provided first to facilitate this introduction of the tab into its eyelet then to tighten the strands of the twine to finally retain to prevent the seal can be removed fraudulently.
In the accompanying drawing is shown by way of example an embodiment of the present invention.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 1 gives., In perspective., A seal according to the present invention.
EMI2.1
Fig. 2 watches in perspective a seal retaining the strands 1iI: res of me strings the seal being ready to be placed in its active position.
Fig. 3 shows in perspective the seal holding the ends of a string firmly.
According to the embodiment shown in the drawing, the seal consists of a strip, preferably of a weakly or inelastic metallic material with branches 1 and 2 of approximately the same length but of different width, this strip being shaped under a form of open loop, each end of which is extended by a tab 3, respectively 4,
The tab 3 is turned towards the inside of the loop., While the tab 4 of the other branch and preferably of a shorter length is
EMI2.2
curved towards the outside.
Wings 5 5Jj provided on each side of the branch 2 are turned inwards to take an erect position. The corners an-
EMI2.3
6D 6 of said wings ,, located near the cover of the buckle are brought back above the internal face of the 2D branch so as to conwuituer an eyelet or open buttonhole.
On the lateral edges of the branch 1.of a width slightly
EMI2.4
above the branch 2 are drawn up flanks 7 i98 intended to cover., in the active position of the seal, the wings 5n 5p and prevent the seal from being deformed with a view to fraudulent opening. For this purpose, the branches 19 2 will preferably have a slightly curved profile so as to stiffen both the wings 59 as and the sides 7 79.
To attach a seal, simply slide the
EMI2.5
strands to be joined together with the string 8s and then to bring the branches 1 2D together as has been shown more specifically in FIG. 2, to operate in an extremely easy manner the sealing of a parcel bag and the like. In effect, by bringing the branches together, the free end of the tab 3 first comes into contact with
EMI2.6
be the branch 2s then., under the influence of the curvature of the tab 4 is directed under the wedges 6s 6s which form an open eyelet the tab 3 gradually engaging in the said eyelet and these until its engagement full.
EMI2.7
The seal is thus put in place easily and without requiring the use of any tool.
In addition, the strands of the string to be retained are wedged between on the one hand the internal face of the loop and the wings 5, 5 'and, \) on the other hand between the said internal face of the loop and the sides 7. 7 '.
It is understood that the opening of the seal in its active position is no longer possible without visibly deteriorating the latter, so as to make its restoration impossible.
EMI2.8
The invention also provides for reducing the thickness of the metal tab constituting the lead at the location of the loop where the branches begin, 1, 2, on the one hand, as well as at the start of the tab 3, on the other hand. Thus, for metals having a certain elasticity, the decreases in thickness provided for above will prevent the metal from tending to resume its original position after the seal has been closed, while at the same time facilitating the sealing.
In addition, the small thickness provided in the angle of the loop as well as at the birth of the tab 3 will force a complete destruction of the seal.
EMI2.9
If 19on advised to want to open it, that is to say to remove the tab 3 from its eyelets and then to tend to return the seal to its original position, thus avoiding any possible fraud.
It will be understood that without departing from the spirit of the present invention, each branch may receive any curvature or relief impression and

that many other practical embodiments may present themselves under the most different aspects depending on whether they are to fulfill a utilitarian purpose or at the same time serve decorative, artistic or other purposes.
