BOILER AIR AND / OR FUEL PREHEATING MODE.
The present invention relates to the preheating of the air and -or- fuel intended for a boiler., Either by means of the feed water of the boiler, or by means of the steam produced by the boiler. the boiler and used in whole or in part. such as it escapes for example from the various stages of a turbine fed by the boiler, so as to improve the thermal cycle of the installation and to ensure better efficiency.
According to the present invention, the preheating of the air and -or- the fuel can be carried out by means of water taken from the heating circuit.

the supply of alumÇ! j era., .. and: pr..ea1ably heated by the. gases escaping from the boiler. This water is then sent to one or more circuits arranged in the flues. supplying air and combustion gases to the boiler.
The water used for preheating is taken from any suitable point in the boiler's normal water supply circuit. If the water leaving the preheating circuits is still at a sufficient temperature, it is returned to any suitable point in the normal boiler water supply circuit. If the water leaving the preheating circuits is at a temperature lower than the normal temperature of the boiler feed water, it is returned to a reheating device located in the flue of gases escaping from the boiler downstream of the normal economizer (except to possibly avoid a dew point)
. so as to be reheated before returning to the normal boiler water supply circuit The water circuit in the preheating device can optionally be maintained by means of a special pump, and suitable valves are provided at all points wanted circuits to regulate the circulation. In particular, a by-pass can be provided so as to partially or completely short-circuit the circuit.

preheating compared to the normal heating circuit for the water supply to the boiler.
According to a variant, the preheating of the air or of the fuel can be carried out using the steam from the boiler, possibly after use of this steam in an engine or a turbine, for example by the steam escaping from the boiler. turbine, and-or-between the stages thereof, and which is sent to air and -or- fuel preheaters where it condenses.
The water thus obtained is then returned to any suitable point in the boiler supply circuit. This arrangement has the advantage of reducing to a minimum the area of the preheating exchangers arranged in the air and fuel flues. And of only slightly increasing the area of the normal economizer. The reheating of the condensed water before its introduction into the economizer, in the event that its temperature at the outlet of the preheating exchangers is very low, can be done as before in a heat exchanger placed in the gases. 'escaping from the boiler at the point where they have the lowest temperature, ie downstream of the economizer, which further improves the efficiency of the boiler.
The reintroduction into the boiler of heat coming from exhaust steam and the condensation water of this exhaust vapor significantly improves the thermal cycle of the installation.
It is provided according to the invention that the two modes of preheating, by feed water or by steam, can be combined.
The various exchangers can be executed by means of finned tubes, tangential or not, to considerably reduce the flow of fluids. The consequence of this is to reduce 1-size, the pressure drops and the driving force necessary for the operation of the assembly.
The description which will follow with regard to the accompanying drawings, given by way of example, will give a better understanding of the manner in which the invention can be carried out.
FIGS. 1 to 3 relate to various variants of preheating the air and the fuel of the boiler by means of the feed water of said boiler.
In figure 1, the preheating water is taken from the middle of the feed water reheating circuit by the economiser.
In figure 2, the water is taken at the end of the normal reheating circuit, that is to say at the outlet of the economizer, and the water leaving the preheating circuits being colder than the feed water, it travels through a heating circuit arranged downstream of the normal feed circuit - in the exhaust gas flue.
In fig. 3, the water used for preheating is taken from the middle of the economizer and then returned to a reheating circuit located as previously downstream of the normal economizer.
Fig. 4 relates to a mixed preheating mode, partly using feed water and partly with steam escaping for example from a turbine supplied by the boiler.
In all the figures, the boiler is schematically represented by its upper flue a and by the last flue b of the gases which escape from the boiler in the direction of the arrows A. In this flue b is provided, in the manner known, the normal economizer ± used to reheat the boiler feed water supplied, from the not shown feed tank, by the pump d.
There is shown schematically at e and ± the flues respectively traversed, in the direction of arrows B and C, by the air and the fuel such as gas, intended to be burned in the furnace of the boiler.
