CONDENSER IMPROVEMENTS.
The present invention relates to boxes for capacitors, and more particularly to the terminal structures carried by the end of said boxes,
According to the invention, this terminal part of the casing comprises two terminals si-killed., Partially at least, in the same insulating part made integral with said terminal part by means of two rivets ensuring at the same time, the fixing of the 'insulation on the case. Metal, and that of the two terminals on the insulating part.
It is known that in electrical circuits which include a capacitor, for example, circuits associated with fluorescent tubes, the capacitor remains charged when the switch is open; there is a risk, by handling the capacitor for service requirements, of receiving a violent discharge due to the high potential difference which exists at the terminals of the capacitor.
In accordance with the invention, a means is added to the demarcation of the box for dissipating the charge accumulated by the capacitor.
According to one embodiment of the invention, a sealed capacitor is introduced into the casing, or metal casing, preferably made of aluminum, which is completed by an end part in the same material bearing the terminal strip; this is fixed to the rest of the housing by any known process, such as soldering, brazing or sealing with the aid of resin.
The invention will be better understood by referring to the following description and to the figures which accompany it, given by way of non-limiting example of embodiment. Figure 1 is a plan view of a terminal portion bearing the boundary and Figure 2 is a sectional view along the line A-A of Figure 1.

In FIG. 1, the: end part 1 has a peripheral flange 12 serving to connect it to the whole of the housing, a groove 11 and a central part 10 pierced with two openings. An insulating molded part 2, preferably made of a synthetic resin, is placed on the external face of 1 and pierced with two openings which correspond to those of the central part 10 of 1. The part 2 carries two conductors 3 and 4, connec - tees across the capacitor.
Each conductor consists of an L-shaped piece, each leg of which is provided with an opening. The conductors are each introduced into a housing provided in the insulating part 2, so that the opening carried by the L-shaped part coincides with the corresponding openings of 1 and 2; the two other openings carried by the L-shaped pieces ensure the connections with the external circuit.
The two tubular rivets 5 and 6 are sufficient to hold the whole assembly; as can be seen in FIG. 2, they are introduced into the channels formed by the openings of parts 2 and 3 or 4.
In FIG. 2, the rivets provided with enlarged heads 7 have been shown; an elastic washer 8, preferably of silicone rubber, is inserted between the head of the rivet and the internal face of the end part of the case. The ends of the rivets are machined, as shown in 9, so as to compress the washer 8 and to ensure the rigidity of the conductors in their respective housing.
According to a preferred variant of the invention, the insulating element 2 is provided with a notch making it possible to house a device (not shown) dissipating the high charges accumulated in the capacitor. Said device may consist of a non-inductive discharge resistor, such as a graphite resistor, connected between the L-shaped pieces, that is to say in parallel with the capacitor. In this way, the high charge accumulated in the capacitor is dissipated through the resistor and this allows the operator to manipulate, without risk of accident, the capacitor, connected in circuit with a fluorescent tube.
