Fig.2. est une vue par dessous.,

IMPROVEMENTS IN SADDLES FOR CYCLES AND SIMILAR.
The present invention refers to cycle saddles and the like, of the type comprising a sheet of springs, leaves or other elastic members, on which rests a cover forming the top of the saddle.
It is known to make the saddle cover or top of leather or canvas imitating leather. The articles thus produced are relatively expensive because of the operations necessary for their shaping. The canvas saddle covers have side seams forming beads which often inconvenience the user.
The invention aims to achieve particularly low cost saddle tops, having great strength and comfort for the user.
The top of the saddle forming the object of the invention is made of injected plastic and is shaped so as to present notable thicknesses around the passage holes of the fixing rivets as well as along its edges. -
In carrying out the invention, use is of course made of a plastic material exhibiting, when cold, a sufficient degree of flexibility for the envisaged application - for example a suitably plasticized polyvinyl chloride -. injection allows the exterior surface of the article to be given any desired appearance either for presentation itself or for better use.
The extra thicknesses reinforce the plastic material at the places where the stresses it has to withstand - in normal or accidental service - are the highest. It will be understood that it is thus possible to obtain an article capable of giving complete satisfaction to the user. Moreover, the injection manufacturing process, if it requires expensive tools, is in itself extremely economical, since it makes it possible to obtain an article strictly conformed to the desired shape without having any particular operation. to be carried out in order to achieve this conformity.
The appended drawing, given by way of example, will make it possible to better understand the invention, the characteristics it presents and the advantages.

floors which is likely to provide
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a top de.selle established in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2. is a view from below.,
Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view to the right of a through hole for the fixing rivets.
The saddle top shown is obtained directly by injection molding of a suitable plastic material, such as cold non-brittle polyvinyl chloride. The mold is made so as to provide on the interior face of the article a series of bosses 1, which are perforated for the passage of rivets serving to fix the saddle top on its frame. As clearly shown in fig. 3, these bosses create an extra thickness in line with each rivet and consequently prevent a somewhat strong traction exerted by the top of the saddle on it from leading to tearing of the injected material.
The top of the saddle shown is also remarkable in that its edge has a rounded bead 2. This bead also constitutes a reinforcement of the top of the saddle at a point where it risks being subjected to an exaggerated force liable to cause a tear.
Finally, on the outside face of the saddle top shown, another coil 3 has been provided, forming a frame for the horizontal to almost horizontal upper part. This flange 3 reinforces the top of the saddle at the point where the friction with the cyclist's clothing is most marked. It thus reduces wear to the point where it is maximum.
It must also be understood that the foregoing description has been given only by way of example and that it in no way limits the field of the invention from which one would not depart by replacing the details. execution described by all other equivalents. Thus the shapes and dimensions as well as the locations of the rivets may vary from case to case.
On the other hand, and as goes without saying, the invention encompasses not only the saddle desus produced in the way which has just been described, but also the saddles comprising such tops.
