APPAREIL POUR EFFACER LES ERREURS ,DE FRAPPE A LA MACHINE A ECRIRE.
La correction des erreurs de frappe à la machine à écrire demande d'abord l'effacement du ou des caractères tapés erronément et cela sur l'ori- ginal et un ou plusieurs doubles éventuellement ; l'effacement se fait avec la gomme classique, généralement en forme de disque, mais cela reste toujours un travail entravant et fastidieux par lui-même. On a proposé un petit appa- reil en forme de crayon ayant au bout une rondelle de gomme à effacer et en appuyant cette rondelle sur le caractère tapé par erreur, cette gomme tourne sur son axe sous Inaction d'un curseur glissant le long du crayon et prenant dans une rainure hélicoïdale d'un axe intérieur portant ladite rondelle.
Cet appareil., inspiré par le foret à vis d'Archimède, n'a pas donné satisfaction, parce qu'il frotte l'encre ou le carbone du caractère sur place et fait une tâche désagréable.
L' invention propose de faire tourner une gomme de forme usuelle autour de son axe à l'intervention d'une commande électrique ou mécanique, soit directement ou par une transmission convenable.
Deux formes de réalisation de l'invention seront décrites ci-après à titre d'exemple avec référence au dessin annexé.

Dans le manche creux 1 se trouve monté l'axe rotatif 2, lequel est commandé par le petit moteur électrique 3 alimenté par les conducteurs 5; le courant peut être fourni par batterie ou par le réseau. Au bout libre de 19 axe 2 saillant du manche est adapté la gomme 4 en forme de disque,
L'appareil de la figure 3 comporte un boîtier 6 enveloppant le mo- teur 3 qui commande l'axe portant la gomme 4 à l'intervention d'une transmis- sion appropriée. Un interrupteur 7 au boîtier permet de contrôler l'appareil au fonctionnement.
L'axe porte-gomme peut aussi porter à l'autre extrémité une brosse circulaire ou tout autre instrument capable d'accomplir une fonction utile en l'espèce. Dans la paroi du boîtier on peut encastrer une petite lam- pe électrique 8 qui dirige ses rayons vers le bord de la gomme, par consé-

quent sur le caractère à effacer.
Un appareil à commande mécanique sera basé par exemple sur le mo- dèle d'un foret à vis d'Archimède, de raccagnac ou de crémaillère avec ressort de retour. L'emploi de l'appareil est évident par lui-même.
Cet appareil efface effectivement le caractère, son action est ra- pide et la gomme est usée régulièrement et à fond; la gomme est amovible et renouvelable. L'appareil de volume réduit est très maniable, même quand l'ef- facement doit se faire sur le rouleau de la machine à écrire et on peut don- ner l'inclinaison convenable pour exécuter un travail parfait.
REVENDICATIONS. l.- Appareil pour effacer les erreurs de frappe à la machine à é- crire comportant une gomme à effacer de forme généralement circulaire, carac- térisé par le fait que cette gomme est mise en rotation autour de son axe de façon commandée, soit électriquement du réseau ou par batterie, soit mécani- quement.

The correction of typing errors on the typewriter requires first the deletion of the character or characters typed incorrectly, on the original and possibly one or more doubles; the erasure is done with the classic eraser, generally in the form of a disc, but this still remains a hindering and tedious job in itself. A small pencil-shaped device has been proposed, having at the end an eraser washer and by pressing this washer on the character typed in error, this eraser rotates on its axis under Inaction of a cursor sliding along the pencil. and taking in a helical groove of an inner axis carrying said washer.
This device, inspired by the Archimedean screw drill, was not satisfactory, because it rubs the ink or carbon of the character on the spot and does an unpleasant task.
The invention proposes to make a rubber of customary shape turn around its axis by means of an electrical or mechanical control, either directly or by a suitable transmission.
Two embodiments of the invention will be described below by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing.

This apparatus effectively erases the character, its action is rapid and the gum is regularly and thoroughly worn; the gum is removable and renewable. The small volume apparatus is very handy even when erasing has to be done on the typewriter roller and the suitable inclination can be given to perform a perfect job.
CLAIMS. l.- Apparatus for erasing typing errors on a typewriter comprising an eraser of generally circular shape, characterized by the fact that this eraser is set in rotation around its axis in a controlled manner, either electrically from the network or by battery, or mechanically.
