CISEAUX.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

la figure 17 est une coupe selon la ligne XVII-XVII de la figure 16, les figures 18 à 20 montrent, de la même façon qu'à la figure 17, trois positions successives correspondant à la deuxième rotation partielle de la lame tournante d'environ 135 lors de la refermeture des ciseaux, c'est-à- dire au début. pendant l'accomplissement et après l'achèvement de cette deuxiè- me rotation partielle; la figure 21 montre en élévation le troisième exemple de réalisa- tion en grandeur naturelle; la figure 22 montre, en grandeur double, la position de ces ciseaux correspondant à la figure 10, au début de la deuxième rotation partielle;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
Quand on referme les ciseaux; la branche à lame fixe 1 bute par son bord avant d'entablure 19, de préférence arrondi, contre l'extrémité arriè- re de la lame tournante 3 qui est alors disposée perpendiculairement à ses po- sitions d'utilisation (figures 10 à 12) et une fermeture complémentaire fait subir à la lame 3 une deuxième rotation partielle également de 90 . de sorte qu'après achèvement d'une seule ouverture au delà de la position normale sui- vie d'une refermeture des ciseaux, on obtient la position de coupe habituelle (figure 13), pour laquelle la broche de verrouillage s'enclenche dans le deuxième évidement 35 opposé au premier;

SCISSORS.
The cutting edges of scissors are of different types. Usually, straight cutting edges are used for scissors. For different applications, for example in the case where the body to be cut does not slide forward between the cutting edges, during cutting, at least one of the two blades is used with a cutting edge with small teeth and for tapering ( thinning) of the hair, when trimming the hair, a blade with deep recesses is used.
The cutting work is complicated when, to change the necessary cutting mode, you have to put aside the scissors previously used. then look for the scissors of another type that have become necessary and take them in hand, and this drawback is particularly evident in the case of hairdressers when cutting the hair when, during the usual cut, it is necessary to taper repeated.
The present invention overcomes this drawback by providing scissors which allow the type of blade to be changed in use without having to search for and pick up other scissors.
This is achieved mainly by constituting one of the two scissor blades with two cutting edges and mounting it on the corresponding handle or ring part so that it can rotate about its longitudinal axis, so that one or the other of the two different cutting edges can be put into service at will with the same scissors.
For the rotary mounting of the two-edged scissor blade in the corresponding handle, a cylindrical rear extension of the rotary blade can preferably be provided, which forms a journal mounted in a circular longitudinal recess of the corresponding handle.
To give the rotating double-edged blade a solidly stable mounting important for cutting and to prevent it from rotating unnecessarily, the entablature of the fixed blade limb is advantageously extended sufficiently forward. to protrude beyond the joint between the rotating blade
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
te and its handle, but this extension is however limited so that, when opening the scissors beyond a normal opening position, this seal is released, which allows a change in position of the rotating blade .
Such maintenance and such locking against a change of position can also be obtained by locking bosses and corresponding recesses on the rotating blade or on its handle. Both the holding and locking means can even be used advantageously.
Another additional feature, advantageously applicable to these scissors, consists in providing a mechanical device for changing position which makes it possible to change the cutting edge without it being necessary to grip the rotating scissor blade by hand or even remove your fingers from the scissor handle rings.
A mechanical position-changing device of this kind realizes a change of the cutting edge simply by opening the scissors beyond the maximum normal working opening position, thanks to the arrangement of two stop elements on each of the parts. formed by the fixed blade branch and by the rotating blade, these elements being intended to cooperate with each other, when the scissors are open beyond the normal position and then closed, and then subject the rotating blade to a rotation in two phases with a total amplitude of 180.
Other advantageously applicable characteristics as well as various advantageous embodiments and certain structural details will emerge during the more detailed description which follows, in which several exemplary embodiments represented in the appended drawing will be described.
Four exemplary embodiments have been shown in the appended drawing showing, in Figures 1 to 13 a first example with a rotating cam disposed in the opening of the ring handle, and with locking pin, in Figures 14 to 20 a second embodiment with guide ramp instead of the rotating cam and without locking pin, in figures 21 and 22 a third embodiment with rotating cam placed below the scissor entablature and without locking pin and in addition to figures 23 and 24 a fourth embodiment with pointed extensions of the blades for the usual cut.

and FIGS. 23 and 24 show the constitution of the front ends of the fourth embodiment in double size, respectively in the cut position and in the closed position.
In all the figures, the fixed blade branch of the scissors is indicated at 1 and its fixed blade at 10, the handle of the other blade is indicated at 2 and its rotating blade at 3, the rectilinear edge of the rotating blade 3 is indicated at 30 and the cutting edge of the rotating blade 3 which has deep notches for obtaining a tapering effect is indicated at 31, the entablature of the scissors is indicated at 40, the joint between the rotating blade 3 and The entablature 40 of the ring handle 2 is indicated at 1, the pivot screw is indicated at 4 and the journal of the rotating blade 3 is indicated at, 32.
The first embodiment, shown in Figures 1 to 13. differs from the other embodiments by a rotating cam, a star. Or a rotating lug 33, integral with the journal 32 and disposed in the table 40 of the handle. 2, as well as by the holding mechanism with locking pin 15,
The rotating cam 33 (1-lines 6 and 8) has an elongated cross section. It is narrow enough not to protrude, in the intermediate position, beyond. of 1'entablure 40 of handle 2 (Figure 8).
but long enough so that, in its active positions (figures 1 and 13), this cam extends beyond the entablature 40 (figure 6) and 'so that it can then cooperate with the nozzle 13 branch with fixed blade. Its arrangement in the cam recess 23 of the entablature 40 of the handle 2 has the advantage of a well-protected position and of a construction that is as uniform and space-saving as possible for the scissors.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The locking pin 15 serves to immobilize the rotating blade 3 in its two working positions (Figures 1 and 13) to oppose an involuntary rotation, in particular under the effect of the cutting pressure (according to the arrow P of figure 3).
It is arranged so as to be able to slide longitudinally in a longitudinal hole in the entablature 40 of the handle 2 and it is subjected to the Inaction of a compression spring 16, arranged at the bottom of this hole and having a tendency to push the handle. spindle towards the having in its active locking position (figures 2 and 3) Its full extension is prevented by a screwed sleeve To allow rotation of the rotating blade 3 in the direction opposite to the cutting pressure (arrow P, figure 3) despite the locking pin, the front free end of the pin 15 is inclined obliquely.
In order that the locking pin 15 cannot rotate and so that the direction of the inclination of its front face always remains the same, there is provided in the outer surface of the locking pin 15 a longitudinal groove 18 into which a pin 17 of the handle 2 enters, this pin opposing the rotation of the pin 15.
: The front end of the locking pin 15 cooperates with two recesses 35-35 which are arranged opposite each other in the rear end face of the rotating blade 3 on either side of the journal 32 and the shape of which, by the inclinations of their bottoms, corresponds to the inclination of the end of the locking pin.
The operation and operation of this first exemplary embodiment are carried out as indicated below. If the hairdresser, who has so far carried out the unraveling with the scissors (figure 1), wishes to switch to the usual haircut (figure 13), there is nothing else to do than open the scissors once beyond their normal open position., then close them.
This maneuver involves the following operations. During the opening movement beyond the normal position, the spout 13 abuts against the part of the cam 33 which protrudes from the inside (figures 5 and 6) and causes this cam to rotate and consequently also the rotating blade. 3 of 90 when the scissors are opened more (Figures 7, 8 and 9), so that the simple opening of the scissors beyond the normal position caused a first partial rotation of the rotating blade 3 by 90.
The locking pin 15 does not oppose the rotational movement in this direction owing to the inclination of its front face; however, when opening beyond the normal position, it exerts a certain resistance, so that the risk of an involuntary pivoting of the rotating blade is avoided.
When we close the scissors; the fixed blade branch 1 abuts by its front edge of entablure 19, preferably rounded, against the rear end of the rotating blade 3 which is then arranged perpendicular to its positions of use (figures 10 to 12 ) and a complementary closure causes the blade 3 to undergo a second partial rotation also of 90. so that after completing a single opening beyond the normal position followed by re-closing the scissors, the usual cutting position is obtained (figure 13), for which the locking pin engages in the second recess 35 opposite to the first;
as a result, in this other working position, the rotating blade 3 is still locked and cannot undergo an involuntary rotation under the action of the cutting pressure (arrow P, FIG. 3).
The second embodiment, shown in Figures 14 to 20, differs from the first example by the fact that the first partial rotation is effected by means of a ramp, instead of by means of a rotating cam. , as well as by the elimination of the complementary locking of the working positions of the blade 3 by means of a locking pin and finally by the fact that the two partial rotations are of different amplitudes.
@
Instead of the rotating cam of the first embodiment, there is provided in this second embodiment, on the opening 40 of the fixed blade branch 1, a stirrup 11, one branch 14 of which is curved so as to protrude on the trajectory of the rotating blade 3 when the latter is open beyond the normal position and thus serving as a guide range for this blade.

The third exemplary embodiment, shown in Figures 21 and 22, differs from the first exemplary embodiment only by the fact that the rotating cam 33 is not disposed in a recess of the opening 40 of the handle 2, but is located at the rear end of the entablure 40 of the handle 2, as well as by the elimination of the complementary locking by the locking pin and the corresponding recesses to reduce the manufacturing price, as in the second embodiment.,
The maneuver and the operation of this third example are done as fear the first. The two partial rotations of the rotating blade each still have an amplitude of 90 The first partial rotation is still

Partial rotation, performed during reclosing of the cisesuxx, results from Inaction of the entablure edge 19 on the lower end of the rotating blade 3, now oriented transversely as shown in figure 20
The fourth exemplary embodiment, shown in Figures 23 and 24 in the open position and in the closed position of its front ends, it differs from the trc's exemplary embodiments described above that

by the arrangement of the free ëSjrémités before the two scissor blades., that is to say by the fact that the two cutting edges 10-30 for the usual haircut are longer than the cutting edge 31 for the unraveling ,
as well as by the prolongation in sharp points of the cutting edges 10-30 of normal cutting which protrude beyond the cutting edge 31.
This arrangement is important because the hairdresser, during an ordinary haircut, is accustomed to using the thin, long tips of the scissors as tools for cutting, for example to divide the hair for cutting. cut separate wicks. The constitution of the front ends of the new scissors, as indicated, thus allows the hairdresser, during a usual haircut, to work with the new scissors exactly as he is accustomed to doing with the uncombined cutting scissors used so far.
