HUNTING RIFLE SAFETY.
Hunting rifles are often provided with a safety, that is to say a device intended to prevent the accidental departure of a shot.
The known devices are ordinarily designed so as to lock the triggers, the safety simply preventing the action of the trigger on the trigger. As a result, the trigger lever is only hand held by its spring and by a fairly low friction against the hammer notch. This arrangement has the serious drawback of leaving full sensitivity to the weapon; also when an impact, caused for example by the fall of the rifle, requests the unbalance of the trigger lever in the appropriate direction, the hammer is released even if the rifle is in safety.
The present invention relates to a safety for a hunting rifle in which a means maintaining the trigger is released by the action of a lever itself actuated by a rocking element upon pressure exerted by the hand in the position of. shoot.
According to an essential characteristic of the invention, the safety is automatic, that is to say that as soon as the rifle is closed after loading, the means maintaining the trigger and constituted for example by a pin, usually comes to rest on the trigger and prevent it from pivoting.
In one embodiment of the invention, this safety pin is carried by an arm provided with a return spring and sliding under the action of a pivoting lever itself by the pressure exerted on an element. tilting formed by a tongue located behind the trigger guard. This tongue, articulated by one end to the stock, has its other end in contact with an arm of the pivoting lever which takes the form of a - square. the other arm is articulated to the sliding arm carrying the safety pin; the weapon is out of safety by pressing on the rocking isolation.
Other features could appear in the following description of the appended drawings, given by way of illustration, of one embodiment of the invention.

The figure is a partial side elevational view of the front part of the rocker with one side face removed.
In the figure, only the elements necessary for understanding the invention are shown.
The automatic safety device according to the invention essentially comprises a tongue 2 articulated at 3 to the butt by one end while its other end 4 comes into contact with the arm 5 of a lever in the form of a square. This lever pivots around 1-axis 6 carried by the plate.
At the end 8 of the arm 7, an arm 9 is articulated which slides in the stem 10 and comes through its front end 11 very close to the latch 12, thanks to the action of the return spring 13, On the arm 9, is attached a pin 14 usually resting on the rear end 15 'of the detent levers, one of which is partially shown at 15.
In the normal position, the pin 14 rests on the trigger, which prevents its actuation by pressing the trigger 16 so that the rifle is automatically put in safety. In firing position, the rifle is held among other things, by the hand gripping the stock behind the trigger guard.
By this pressure, the tongue 2 rotates the lever in the form of a square according to the arrow Y, the arm 9 is pulled in the direction of the arrow X, the pin 14 no longer rests on the trigger lever which can be actuated by pressure on the trigger.
When, by the operation of the key 17, the rifle is opened to load it, the lock 12 pushes back the arm 9 and the pin 14 is erased which allows the trigger levers to rise, thus making the arming possible as soon as the barrel is tilted.
CLAIMS.
1. Safety for hunting rifle in which a means holding the trigger is released by a pivoting lever under the action of a rocking element by pressure exerted by the hand in the firing position.
2. Safety for hunting rifle, characterized in that the means holding the trigger is constituted by a pin usually resting on the trigger, thus preventing it from pivoting.
