Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
R E V E N D C A T I O N S

CATAPHOTE MOUNTING ON A CURVED SURFACE OF A VEHICLE.
The present invention relates to a device for mounting reflectors, that is to say reflectors placed on motor vehicles and the like and visible at night under the action of external light. It is based on the following observations: a) that motor cars currently have practically no perfectly vertical surface allowing the application of a catalyst under the best conditions. b) that a catadioptric lens reflects a luminous flux within well-defined limits, namely: maximum reflection when the glass is perpendicular to the direction of the luminous flux and zero reflection when the glass is tilted 10 to 15 with respect to the luminous flow.
It is therefore essential for the sake of safety and rational use of the safety devices provided for by the Highway Code to allow the user to place his reflector on a curved surface while giving him the possibility of doing so. adjust in a vertical position.
The current invention provides this possibility by mounting the reflector on a curved surface of the vehicle by means of a ball joint device.
In order to make the invention clearly understood, a nonlimiting exemplary embodiment will be described below with the aid of the single appended figure.
In this drawing, 1 designates the catadioptric lens and 2 a curved part of the car .....
In the example shown, the fixed elements of the ball joint are parts 3 and 4 in the form of segments of a sphere arranged concentrically and leaving between them a space 5 in which can slide parts 6 and 7 integral with the reflector and constituting the mobile elements of the patella.
Parts 3 and 4 are crossed by a sleeve 8 forming part of a washer 9 fixed on the curved part 2
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
At its junction with the washer, the sleeve 8 comprises an extra thickness 81 serving as a support for the parts 3 and 4 which are held in place by a spring 10 which bears under a washer 11 provided under the head 12 d 'a screw 13 screwing into the sleeve 8 and passing through the curved part 2.
This ball joint is therefore of the internal compression spring type and the reflector can be simply oriented without having to loosen any nut, one could obviously provide any other arrangement for the ball joint and use a nut of blocking. It is then sufficient to loosen this nut, orient the reflector and then lock the nut.
Whatever the type of ball joint, a maximum reflection of the luminous flux is always obtained, and this is due to the fact that the ball joint is orientable.
R E V E N D C A T I O N S
1 Mounting of a reflector on a curved surface of a motor vehicle or other characterized by a ball-joint device with a view to allowing the adjustment of the reflector so as to make it occupy a vertical position.
