Fig. 1 est une vue latérale d'une serrure conforme à l'inven- tion encastrée dans une porte;
Fig, 2 est une vue de la serrure, le boitier ouvert et le pêne se trouvant en position d'ouverture;
Fige 3 est une vue correspondant à Fig. 2, le pêne en position de fermeture et bloqué par le secret;
Fige 4 est une vue correspondant à Fig. 3 le pène fermé mais dégagé du secret;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig 5 et 6 sont des vues partielles de la serrure correspon- dant respectivement aux Fig. 3 et 4, le pêne étant vu sur sa face opposée;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Il a été dit précédemment que les roues dentées 11 étaient mon- tées sur une plaquette coulissante 12 Normalement, celle-ci occupe une po- sition pour laquelle les roues 11 engrènent avec les roues 9 de chaque dis- positif de secret, mais il suffit d'exercer sur la targette 18 une pression vers le haut pour provoquer le désengrènement des dites roues, la plaquette 12 et la targette prenant alors la position représentée en Fig.7 Cette disposition spéciale permet de modifier le secret de la serrure sans devoir . démonter celle-ci;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

SECRET LOCK WITHOUT KEY.
The present invention relates to a secret lock making it possible to eliminate the use of the key and consequently all the drawbacks which result therefrom: loss, breakage in the lock, etc.
Compared to locks of the type comprising for each digit or element of the secret a ratchet control wheel capable of being returned to a starting position, the lock according to the invention is characterized in that each locking wheel. control meshes with a wheel of the same toothing integral with a cam capable of acting on a movable frame carrying a lug housed in an appropriate notch of the bolt so as to block the latter in its closed position.
According to a preferred form of the invention, on the bolt can pivot a spring arm against which the lug of the movable frame abuts in the notch of the bolt, when the latter is blocked in its closed position.
On the other hand., The cam wheels are mounted on a plate capable of sliding on the palastre of the lock in order to allow disengagement with the control wheels and the change of the secret without having to disassemble the lock.
Other characteristics of the invention will be further described below with reference to the appended drawing which represents, by way of example only, one embodiment of a lock according to the invention.
In this drawing,
Fig. 1 is a side view of a lock according to the invention embedded in a door;
Fig, 2 is a view of the lock, the case open and the bolt being in the open position;
Fig. 3 is a view corresponding to Fig. 2, the bolt in the closed position and blocked by the secret;
Fig. 4 is a view corresponding to Fig. 3 the bolt closed but free of secrecy;
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Figs 5 and 6 are partial views of the lock corresponding respectively to Figs. 3 and 4, the bolt being seen on its opposite face;
Fig. 7 is a partial view of the lock, the secret mechanism being disengaged in order to allow the secret to be changed.
In the embodiment shown in the drawing, are carried by the palastre 1 and the cover of the lock case sockets 2, - three in the present case, - capable of rotating in their housing and drilled over their entire height. a square hole 3. On its circumference, each socket 2 has a lug 4 projecting laterally and being able to come into contact with an arm 5, theequel can pivot about an axis 6 fixed to the housing while being pressed against the socket 2 by a spring 7 bearing against a pin 8 of the palastre.
Each sleeve 2 is also integral with a toothed wheel 9, in the teeth of which penetrates the nose of a pawl 10 also pivoting around the aforesaid axis 6 and thus subjected to the action of a spring which ., surmounting the spring 7 of the arm 5 bears the same index in the drawing. On the other hand,,
with each toothed wheel 9 can engage a wheel 11 of the same toothing carried by a plate 12 capable of sliding transversely on the palastre 1 while being guided by a spindle 13 The movement of the plate 12 is achieved by a bolt 14 mounted pivot at 15 on the latter and subjected to the action of a spring 16 fixed to the plate. The bolt has on the one hand a guide groove 17 and on the other hand a spout 18 which passes through a notch 19 provided in the faceplate 20 of the lock so that it can be actuated in the desired direction (Fig. 1). .
At its upper part, the faceplate 20 is pierced for the passage of the throwing or beveled bolt 21 integral with a guided arm 22 capable of sliding on the palastre 1 while being subjected to the action of a spring 23, which acts on a wall 24 folded square on the arm 22
Towards its lower part the faceplate 20 is drilled for the passage of the deadbolt 25 guided on the palastre 1 by a pin 26 and cut out on its lower edge in the form of a rack 27.
This is traversed by a barrel 28 provided with holes 28 'in which are inserted small pins integral with' knobs for maneuvering 29 These buttons 29 bear on either side of the pqrte 30 in which is embedded the lock (Fig.l) by means of plates 31 It is also against these plates that the knurled knobs 32, mounted on rods of square section 33 which pass through the sockets 2 of the toothed wheels 9, rest.
In the bolt 25 there is provided a rectangular notch 34 having a stopper 35, a notch that an arm 36 pivoting at 37 on the bolt 25 enables its upper part to be partially covered; a stopper 38, also provided in the arm 36, protrudes a little towards the rear from the notch 35. A spring 39 tends to bring the arm 36 constantly back into contact with a stop 40 fixed to the bolt.
Inside the notch 34 is housed a lug 41 of suitable shape carried by a sliding frame 42 which rests against the bolt 25 and is subjected to the action of a return spring 43. The frame 42 extends above the toothed wheels 11 (Figs 3 and 4), but these are visible through windows 44 drilled in said frame and whose horizontal upper edge 45 rests in the position of not secret against the bevel 46 of a cam 47 integral with each toothed wheel 11 The frame 42 is guided by pins 48 carried by the palastre 1 of the lock.
Finally, around an axis 49 carried by the palastre 1 can pivot a second frame 50 also resting on the bolt 25, like the frame 42. This frame 50 has oval notches in an arc of a circle 51 by mixing the pivots of the pawls 10 and it is extended at its upper part by a finger 52 against which the wall 24 of the arm 22 of the launcher 21 presses.
The importance of the secret number depends on the one hand on the number
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
groups of toothed wheels 9 and 11 and on the other hand the number of teeth of these wheels.In the present case, the number of groups being three and each wheel having for example twenty teeth, the secret could be at least a number of three digits and a maximum of six digits.
The starting point or the zero of the counting is given for each wheel 9 by the stop of the arm 5 against the lug 4 of the socket 2 of the wheel; the number of the secret for each wheel corresponds to the number of teeth by which it will be necessary to turn it to bring the corresponding toothed wheel 11 into a position such that its edge 46 is parallel to the edge 45 of the wheel. reinforcement 42 This position is shown in FIG. 2, the lug 41 of the frame then occupies the front base of the notch 34 of the bolt, the arm 36 having been slightly raised, as will be explained below.
To close the lock, it will suffice to turn one of the knurled knobs 29 and the bolt 25 will slide into the keeper of the doorframe, while the lug 41 of the frame 42 will be located at the rear bottom of the doorframe. notch 34 of the bolt.
This done to block the bolt, we will turn the knurled knobs 32 so as to scramble the figures, that is to say that the pins 4 of the sockets 2 will take a certain position to which will correspond a varied position of the cams 11, as shown. Fig. 3. However, by turning these cams, the frame 42 is slid upwards, the lug 41 of which will then be placed behind the notch 38 of the arm 36, the latter having lowered under the action of its spring 39 when closing the bolt (Fig.5) the bolt is thus immobilized.
To allow the lock to be opened, each knurled knob 32 must be turned along the arrow X to bring each toothed wheel 9 to the known starting point, which will be obtained, as has been said, by stopping the arm. 5 against the lug 4 of said wheel. From this moment, each wheel 9 will be rotated in the opposite direction by a number of teeth corresponding to the number of the secret of each button 32; passage of the pawls 10 on the teeth will make it possible to check this number by touching and listening. Once this number has been reached, the toothed wheels 9 will have caused the corresponding wheels 11 to rotate by an amplitude which will bring their respective cam 47 into a position of their bevel 46 parallel to the edge 45 of the windows 44 of the frame 42.
Under these conditions, it will be brought down by its spring 43, as shown in Fig. 4 at the same time as its lug 41 (Figo6),
It will then be possible to turn the knurled knob 29 and its barrel 28 to bring the bolt 25 back inside the lock, but the bolt will be stopped in its retraction movement following the stop of the notch 35 control. lug 41, which is then located under notch 38.
To allow the complete opening of the bolt, it will be necessary to turn one of the knurled knobs 32 to cause the upward displacement of the frame 42, so that the lug 41 meets the notch 38 of the arm. 36 lifts the latter and presents itself in front of the notch 34, which will allow the bolt, by the rotation of the knurled knob 29, to continue its path in the lock. At the same time, a lug 53 carried by the bolt will come at the end of its travel to act on the frame 50 to make it pivot about its axis 49 so that its upper nose 52 acting on the wall 24 of the arm 22 of the throwing 21, will force this arm and consequently throwing it to return inside the lock by compressing the spring 230 The lock is then completely open, the parts of the mechanism having resumed the position of Fig 2.
It has been said previously that the toothed wheels 11 were mounted on a sliding plate 12 Normally, this one occupies a position for which the wheels 11 mesh with the wheels 9 of each secret device, but it suffices exert on the bolt 18 an upward pressure to cause the disengagement of said wheels, the plate 12 and the bolt then taking the position shown in Fig.7 This special arrangement allows to change the secrecy of the lock without having to. disassemble it;
in fact, to obtain this result, it will suffice, after having disengaged as it has just been said and the cams 47 being in the position of FIG. 2 or 4, to turn one or more of the mo-
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
letés 32 so as to increase the number of teeth of the wheels 9 included between the lug 4 and the nose of the arm or arms 5. The bolt 18 is then brought back into the meshing position.
It would obviously not be departing from the scope of the invention to use other purely constructive forms than those described above and shown in the accompanying drawing.
