METHOD AND INSTALLATION FOR THE TRANSPORT OF PULVERULENT MATERIALS.
The present invention relates to a method for transporting pulverulent materials forming an emulsion with a gas.
It has already been proposed to circulate pulverulent materials forming an emulsion with air, in a channel which descends in the direction of the circulation of the material and of which the lower part is permeable to air without being so. to powdery materials. Air is forced through the di- te lower part over the entire length of the channel so that the layer of material which rests on the bottom of it is traversed by a part of this air and the other part of it. this forming a thin continuous layer between the bottom of the channel and the material to be transported. These flow like a liquid towards the lower end of the inclined channel.
This process does not make it possible to advance the material when the slope which causes the flow is not sufficient and all the more so it does not allow it to rise.
The object of the present invention is a method which overcomes this drawback. It is based on the observation that as long as the emulsion is maintained, it can be displaced like a liquid.
In the process according to the invention, this emulsion is delivered with the aid of a pump in a channel while the emulsion is maintained.
In practice, in an installation suitable for carrying out this process, it is therefore used to supply the channel of a pump such that this channel is filled and remains filled despite the forced introduction of air through it. the powdery material.
The emulsion can be formed only in the aforementioned channel as in known installations where the emulsion flows in a downwardly inclined channel, but it can also be formed before it passes through the pump and be maintained by the introduction of air. over the entire length of the horizontal projection of the aforesaid channel.
In a particular embodiment of the installation according to the invention, the part permeable to air of the aforesaid channel extends to the bottom

a vertical chimney connected to said channel.
Other features and details of the invention will emerge from the description of the drawings appended hereto, which schematically represent, and by way of example only, some embodiments of the installation according to the invention. .,
Figures 1 to 7 each show in vertical section an embodiment of the installation according to the invention.
In these different figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements.
The installation shown in FIG. 1 comprises a channel 2 in which pulverulent materials are discharged by an Archimedean screw 3 supplied by a hopper 4. Channel 2 is a horizontal channel. Its bottom 5 consists of porous material or of a very small mesh sieve.
This base is permeable to a gas such as air discharged by a ventilator 6 into a compartment 7 but it is impermeable to powdery materials discharged into the channel 2 by the Archimedean screw 3.
The air which enters channel 2 through the bottom 5 over the entire length of this channel forms an emulsion with the pulverulent materials and this emulsion advances in the direction of the arrow X under the propulsion of the Archimedean screw 3 playing the same role as a pump for a liquid.
The channel 2 can also be supplied with powdery materials by a second Archimedean screw 8 receiving these materials from a hopper 9. The Archimedean screws 3 and 8 are equipped with a member 10 serving to adjust their flow rate. .
In FIG. 2, we see that the channel 2 provided with its permeable bottom 5 extends to the bottom of a vertical chimney 11, connected to this channel. The powdery materials are pumped into channel 2 by centrifugal pumps 3 'and 8'.
In Figure 3, we see an installation in which the channel 2 is inclined upwards. The powdered materials are introduced into this channel by 3 "and 3" vane pumps.
In the embodiment of FIG. 4, the emulsion of air and pulverulent materials is already formed before being discharged into the channel.
2 by a propeller 3 "'driven by a motor 12. In fact, these materials which fall from a hopper 4 meet the air discharged through the part of the bottom 5 to the left of the propeller 3"' This emulsion is maintained over the entire length of channel 2 to the right of this propeller, up to the bottom of the vertical chimney 11.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 5, the pulverulent materials are delivered directly by a pump shown in the form of a centrifugal pump, into a vertical chimney 11 at the bottom of which is provided a compartment 7 in which the fan 6 blows exhaust air through the porous bottom 5 The airborne dust emulsion is discharged at 13 to the upper part of the chimney 11.
The embodiment shown in Figure 6 differs from that shown in Figure 5 only by the use of another pump to deliver the pulverulent materials into the chimney 11, this other pump being constituted by a screw. 'Archimedes 3
Finally, in FIG. 7, there is shown an installation according to the invention in which the pulverulent materials are also drawn upwards despite a very strong inclination of the channel 2 in which they circulate. This is only possible because the emulsion is formed from the bottom of this channel 2 and is maintained over the entire length thereof, up to the point of discharge 13, by the introduction of pressurized air through the bottom 5.
It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiments shown and that many modifications can be made.
