<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
ledit corps.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

for applicant, / "Improvements to boilers and the like".
A boiler of the kind in question has two bodies arranged one above the other, the lower body being provided with vertical smoke tubes of relatively large diameter, while the lower body comprises water tubes s' extending inside the smoke tubes of the lower body, said water tubes preferably being of the Field type, that is to say composed of two coaxial elements ensuring by their combination the circulation of water against the walls of heat exchange.
This results in highly efficient devices, exhibiting considerable vaporization power, but relatively complicated and difficult to maintain. More particularly the Field tubes, exposed directly to the flames at. the inside of the smoke tubes or even in the fireplace itself in front of the opening of these, wear out rather quickly and to allow their exchange it is necessary to provide the correspon- ding body with a multitude of manholes. particularly difficult to set up when working at high pressure.
The invention aims to make it possible to produce a boiler of the type in question, but of considerably simpler construction than that described in the aforementioned patent application, while having good qualities as regards its vaporization power.
According to the invention, the water tubes are simple blind tubes, of reduced length compared to that of the smoke tubes, so on the one hand not to be exposed to the direct flames of the hearth and on the other hand to be able in the -free state to switch inside the corresponding body to be introduced or withdrawn by a single buffer provided on
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
said body.
The invention thus allows a construction according to which the body with water tubes, arranged above the body with smoke tubes, in the manner described in the aforementioned patent application, is provided with a bottom of reinforced thickness in which the water tubes, provided with a flared end, are fixed by simply twisting in place. These tubes, of relatively short length, descend only about halfway up the interior of the smoke tubes, so that their closed lower ends receive only gases which have already been relatively cooled by their passage through the flue. lower half of the flue tubes, - therefore, despite the fact that circulation is not ensured through a concentric inner tube system, they are not likely to be burnt by flames.
On the other hand these tubes, of small length, can easily tilt inside the upper body, so that they can be put in place and removed, by a single plug or manhole provided on said body. . Finally, the entry of the smoke tubes is not hampered by the presence of the water tubes and the hot gases have a large passage section, while, on the contrary, a little higher up the partially cooled gases are found. a reduced passage section which obliges them to maintain their speed.
The appended drawing, given by way of example, will make it possible to better understand the invention, the characteristics which it presents and the advantages which it is likely to provide:
The boiler shown in vertical schematic section comprises a lower body 1 arranged so as to enclose the hearth 2, according to the known so-called interior hearth arrangement.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Smoke tubes 3, of relatively large diameter, leave vertically from the hearth 2, which pass through the body to emerge on the upper face of the latter.
The tubes 3 are fixed in place in any suitable manner, for example by expanding, and for this purpose the two corresponding walls of the body 1 are made by means of thick sheets, as shown.
The body 1 is surrounded by a cylindrical jacket 4 which provides an intermediate space between its inner wall and the walls of said body 1 for the passage of the fumes or gases leaving the tubes 3. This jacket 4 is provided with an outlet pipe 5. that is connected to the flue of the fireplace.
On the sleeve 4 rests a second body 6, the bottom of which carries blind tubes 7 which descend vertically inside the tubes 3 over approximately half the height of the latter. The tubes 7 have a flared upper end and they are fixed in the reinforced lower wall of the body 6 by simply lapping in place.
The body 6 is of sufficient height so that a dismantled tube 7 can stand there vertically, as indicated at 7 ', and tilt there, as indicated at 7 ", in order to be able to be removed through a plug or manhole 8 It will be understood that, conversely, the same buffer or manhole 8 allows the positioning of said tubes 7 in the reverse manner.
A spacer 9 reinforces the body 6 by connecting its bottom to its domed domed ceiling.
The connection between the bodies 1 and 6 is ensured by short tubes 10. The steam is released through a tube 11 at the upper part of the body 6.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The operation of the boiler described remains the same as that described in the aforementioned patent application. The hot gases pass through the smoke tubes 3 by heating the body 1 and at the same time giving up part of their heat to the water contained in the tubes 7. The section of the smoke tubes 3 is used under the best conditions, then / that at the exit of the hearth, that is to say when the gases at high temperature occupy a large specific volume, it is entirely available for their passage, while higher, when they have started to to cool and to contract, this section is partly occupied by the tubes 7, so that the section of passage of said gases is reduced,
which tends to maintain their speed at a sufficiently high value without leading to excessive values towards the input.
Of course, the foregoing description has been given only by way of example and it in no way limits the field of the invention, from which one would not depart by replacing the details of execution described by any other equivalents. The length of the tubes 7 can vary within wide limits. Their method of attachment to the bottom of the body 6 can be any. Although it is advantageous to make the tubes 7 in the simple manner described, in certain cases double tubes of the type Field could be used. On the other hand, and as explained in the aforementioned patent application, it is possible to imagine many variations in the hot gas circuit.
