La présente invention, due à Monsieur Gilbert GATIMEL, est relative à des perfectionnements apportés dans les machi- nes d'oxy-coupage au dispositif de réglage micrométrique d'approche horizontale du chalumeau pour l'amener à attaquer la tôle en un point déterminé ; il s'agit de machines qui com- portent générale lient des chariots orthogonaux roulant sur une table et des dispositifs traceurs, et dans lesquelles le réglage en question fait parcourir à l'extrémité du chalumeau des trajectoires rectiligne et circulaire combinées;

"Device for adjusting the starting position of the torch in oxy-cutting machines".
The present invention, due to Mr. Gilbert GATIMEL, relates to improvements made in oxy-cutting machines to the device for the micrometric adjustment of the horizontal approach of the torch to cause it to attack the sheet at a determined point; these are machines which generally include orthogonal carriages rolling on a table and plotting devices, and in which the adjustment in question causes the end of the torch to travel in combined rectilinear and circular paths;
in these known adjustment devices, the torch, when it is inclined in order to perform chamfer cuts, generates in its circular movement during its adjustment an ideal surface which is that of a right cone having for apex the point of intersection of the fictitious axis of the torch with the axis of rotation of the circular adjustment device, in

so that in the case of rectilinear chamfer cuts, the horizontal approach and simultaneous adjustment of the inclination of the torch can only be achieved by laborious trial and error, the inclination angle of the cutting plane of the Chamfer relative to the sheet being equal to the angle of greatest slope of the torch with respect to this same sheet only in the four rectangular positions of the torch relative to the carriages.
According to the present invention, this drawback is remedied by replacing the usual circular adjustment device by a device which, during the circular adjustment movement of the torch, keeps the latter parallel to itself, instead of it. converge towards a fixed point (the apex of the cone mentioned above), the ideal surface which it generates when it is inclined for chamfer cuts no longer being a straight cone, but an oblique cylinder.
The device embodying the invention comprises a toothed wheel set on a vertical axis of rotation operated by hand and meshing, by means of a wheel which is idle and has any number of teeth, with a satellite wheel having the same number "of teeth as the first and wedged on the vertical axis to which is fixed the slide which gives the rectilinear approach movement.
In the accompanying drawings which show, by way of example, an embodiment of the invention applied to an oxy-cutting machine rolling on a table, FIG. 1 is a general elevational view of the invention. assembly mounted at the end of the frame connecting the markers to the torch, with partial section of the hand control of the circular adjustment device; Figure 2 is a plan view corresponding to Figure 1, the thin lines showing the device brought into any position; Figure 3 is a section along

line AA of FIG. 1, showing the hand control of the circular approach movement; Figure 4 is a section through the line BB of Figure 1, showing the hand control of the rectilinear approach movement.
The torch 1 (see figure 1) sliding to approximate in height in the socket 2, can be inclined in vertical planes at the angle of the chamfers to be controlled by the graduation shown on the rotary drums 3 and 4. This socket 2 to drums slide in a slide 5 via the rack 6 (see figure 4) engaged by a pinion 7 wedged on the flywheel axle 8. On the axle 9 (see figure I) integral with the slide 5 , is wedged a satellite wheel 10 having a certain number of teeth. The axis 9 can pivot in an arm 11 on which a parasitic wheel 12 having any number of teeth turns idle, furthermore the arm 11 is keyed on a shouldered centering axis 13 and held by a nut 15.
The axis 13 penetrates into the sleeve 16 of the control box (not shown) and is supported by a knurled ring 17 screwing onto the sleeve 16. At its lower part is wedged a fixed toothed wheel 18 with the same number of teeth as the satellite wheel 10, in this set the three wheels 18, 12 and 10 still being engaged. The axle 13 is driven in rotation by a worm 19 (see FIG. 3) driving the tangent wheel 20 integral with the axle 13 (see FIG. 1) and the screw 19 is controlled by the flywheel 21.
