Franz CESAR 'i"';,, ' 'à'>1 .

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

intended to be blocked against the aforesaid surface and provided with means for this purpose, sealing means being provided at the end of the sheath, opposite to that provided with locking means.
In an advantageous embodiment, the aforesaid locking means consist in providing side by side on the sheath two rings, one of which is elastic and the other of hard material, the latter being moved by a sleeve mounted on a thread. sheath floor.
In another embodiment, the aforesaid sealing means consist in mounting inside the end of the aforesaid sheath, and at the rear of the rear wall of the aforesaid container, two rings, one of which is elastic material, these rings being mounted with hard friction on the aforesaid rod and clamped against stops on the wall of the sheath, by a cover mounted on a suitable thread of the sheath.
The present invention also relates to a method using the apparatus according to the invention.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of a dust evacuation apparatus and of the process employing this apparatus, given below by way of non-limiting example and with reference to the drawings below. annexed.
Fig.l is an elevation of an apparatus according to the invention.
Fig.2 is a longitudinal section of the apparatus of fig.l.
Fig.3 is a section along the line III-III of Fig.2.
In the various figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements.
The apparatus is intended to be fixed to the shank of the head of a jackhammer or any other drilling device and acts as a dust evacuator when drilling a surface 2.
The rod 1 of the hammer is first of all provided with a head 4 which drills the orifice 3. This orifice serves as a stop for the apparatus.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The head 4 is then removed and it is replaced by a smaller head, which drills the hole 5.
The difference in the diameters of orifices 3 and 5 will be used to stop the evacuator device.
The apparatus consists of a sheath 6, in which the hammer rod 1 is housed, the sheath being divided into two compartments by a partition 7. This partition forms a chamber 8 closed by a cover 9 screwed onto a thread. from the surface
Means for clamping the device against the surface to be drilled 2 and sealing means to prevent the effusion of drilling dust, which would inconvenience the user, are provided.
The clamping means consist in mounting on the part 11 of the / head of the sheath 6 a ring 12 of elastic material, for example rubber, which is mounted, with gentle friction, on the part 11 of the sheath, and which abuts against another ring 13 made of a hard material, for example steel, also mounted on part 11.
The set of rings 12 and 13 can be moved by the stop effected by a sleeve 14 mounted on a thread 15 of part 11.
The sleeve 14 has peripheral asperities 16 which are used for gripping during maneuvers. When the hammer is in the working position and the hole 3 has already been drilled, by changing the head 4 of the hammer and digging out the hole 5, the part 11 of the sheath will butt against the projection coming from the sudden passage. from one section to another smaller. To block the device in the working position, the sleeve 14 is moved forward on the thread 15 of part 11 with the help of the asperities 16. The ring 13 will then crush the elastic ring 12, which s 'will widen and determine the blocking of the device against the surface 2.
The rotation of the head 4, expelling the dust towards the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
chamber 8, a sealing means must be provided at the rear of the partition 7 through which the rod 1 passes.
The seal is obtained by placing on the rod 1 also two rings 17 and 18, respectively similar to the rings 12 and 13, the ring 18 being able to be tightened against the stops 19 provided for this purpose on the wall of the sheath. 6. These rings are tightened against the stops 19 by the advancement of the cover 20 on a thread 21 of the sheath 6.
Holes 22 in the sheath 6 ensure better operation of the apparatus.
It is understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described above, and that many modifications can be made to it, in particular as regards the form, the constitution, the number and the the arrangement of the elements involved in its realization, without departing from the scope of the present patent application, provided that these changes are compatible with the spirit of the claims set out below.
