<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
2 - (fig.. 2).
3 - (fig.3).
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
REVENDICATIONS

B-R E "V E-T 'D'1 N V E N T ION LIFTING DEVICE IN WHICH HORIZONTAL MOVEMENTS
OF THE LOAD OPERATE BY GRAVITY Eddie Edouard MALBESIN
It is known to produce lifting devices which comprise, at the top of a vertical pylon, a horizontal beam; this beam being supported by this pylon so as to constitute, relatively to. the latter, the upper bar of a T. This beam, on which the lift truck to which the load is suspended can move in translation, is mounted so as to be able to undergo horizontal angular displacements.
The present invention relates to a lifting device which differs from those mentioned above by the fact that the beam is articulated on the top of the pylon about a horizontal axis, so that this beam can undergo vertical angular displacements at the top. way of a balance flail.
These angular displacements are used to produce, by simple gravity, the translations of the carriage to which the load is suspended.
In the accompanying schematic drawings and by way of example only, the figs I to. 6 show the various,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
plases of the operation of a lifting apparatus established in accordance with the features of the present invention.
@ As indicated above, 'the lifting device, object of the invention, essentially comprises a vertical pylon 1 at the top of which is articulated, on a horizontal axis 2, a beam 3; this beam 3 being arranged so as to
EMI4.1
construct the bar after a T that it appears with the "" "''" "" '; 1,' ". ' pylon 1 which supports it. This beam 3 is provided with guide rails for the carriage 4 for lifting and horizontal transport of the load, can be moved angularly around its articulation axis 2 on its pylon 1 .
These angular displacements are, therefore, likely to determine ,, in one direction or the other and under the. only action of gravity, the movements of the carriage 4 on its guides. The horizontal transport of the load does not require, therefore, any mechanical effort external to the system. To facilitate angular displacements of the beam 3 forming a beam, the two arms of the latter have different lengths, either by construction, the predominant length being that of the arm which does not carry the mobile carriage 4.
The apparatus for maneuvering this machine is as follows: the carriage 4 carries and moves either a clamp 5 or a clamshell of any known type. This device. gripping is carried by a cable 6 whose strands pass over the pulleys 9-8 of the carriage 4, and from there, on the one hand, on a fixed pulley'9 carried at the end of the beam and on the other hand on a mobile sheave -10.- The yoke of this sheave 10 is moved by a cable 11 winding on the operating winch 12. Movements of the sheave 10, in one direction or the other, produce therefore the raising or lowering of the clamp 5 or of the clamshell.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The drum of the winch 12 also acts on a cable 13 which forms a vertical loop 14 to support a tension counterweight 15 and which, passing over the pulley 7 of the carriage 4, ends at the claws 16 or jaws of the pre-machine. - tension 5. A brake 17. acting on the cable 13, controls the opening of the claws or jaws 16.
The carriage 4 has its ends joined by a cable 18, the loop of which passes over a braking pulley 19. The purpose of this braking mechanism 19 is to slow down and stop the carriage 4 when the beam 3 is displaced angularly; between its stops 20 and 21. A low power winch 22 allows, if necessary, to positively control the brake drum 19 to act on the cable 18. The purpose of this arrangement is to return the carriage 4 to an intermediate position between its end-of-travel positions, (for example, when the operator, during the automatic movement of the carriage 4, has not stopped the latter when it reaches its working position) .
The operation of the apparatus can be broken down into six operations, the phases of which are shown in the attached schematic drawings.
1 - (fig.l). The beam 3 is inclined towards the location of the work and is immobilized in this position by any locking system 20, which could be arranged near the axis of oscillation 2 of the beam 3. The drum is disengaged from the winch 12 ,, By lengthening the cable 11, the sheave 10 moves towards the lower end of the beam 3. The distance between the pulleys 9-10 over which the cable 6 passes decreases; the two vertical strands: of this cable 6 therefore lengthen and the clamp 5 descends. At the same time, its claws 16 open as a result of the braking action of the drum 17 which acts on the opening cable 13.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
2 - (fig. 2). We engage the drum of the winch 12 which winds the cable '11; the latter attracts the sheave 10 which moves towards the highest end of the beam 3, by pulling on. the cable 6. Simultaneously, the cable 13, pulled by the winch 12, closes the claws 16 of the toad 5, which grip the materials to be lifted. The action of the locking 20 is stopped, so that the beam 3 automatically tilts by lifting upwards its end on the clamp side 50 The beam 3 comes to lock at 21, in the position shown in FIG. 2 ,. The clamp 5 goes up to the carriage 4, which is blocked by the braking at 19 of its cable 18.
3 - (fig. 3). The brake 19 is released. The carriage 4 moves on its guides, by simple gravity and due to the inclination of the beam 3. It drives with it the clamp 5 and its load. The movement can be stopped before the end-of-travel position by operating the brake 19 to lock the cable 18.The slack in the cable 13 caused by the translation of the carriage 4 is recovered by the corresponding movement of the counterweight 15 acting on the loop 14 .
4 - (fig.4), the winch 12 is disengaged. The sheave 10 moves, which allows the toad 5 to descend. By acting on the brake 17, the corresponding movement of the cable 13 is stopped, so that the arms 16 of toad 5 open, abandoning the load they were carrying,
The mechanism 21 which immobilized the beam 3 is unlocked, so that the latter can move angularly, the weight of the assembly of the carriage 4 and of the clamp 5 having approached the pivot axis 2 gives. this part of the beam a preponderant weight. By simple gravity, the carriage 4 and the clamp 5 can therefore regain their extreme positions, the cables 11-13 stretching due to the
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
of the winch disengagement 12.
The beam 3 is immobilized in its new position due to its engagement with the corresponding locking mechanism 20.
5 - (fig. 5). The winch 12 is engaged with the aim of making the clip 5 go up towards the carriage 4 which carries it.
At the same time, by the cable 13, the claws 16 of this toad 5 close.
6 - (fig. 6). The brake 19 is actuated which acts on the cable 18 immobilizing the carriage 4. By gravity, this carriage 4 and the crapaul 5 regain their positions at the end of the beam 3, which takes place without lengthening the cable 11 whose winch 12 is stopped. The toad 5 will then be lowered and its claws 16 will be open, as shown in fig.l, from which the cycle of operations is renewed.
It is obvious that the lifting device as described could be installed in a fixed position, or else be mounted on a mobile carrying frame, or on a boat in order to allow its movements on land or on water.
CLAIMS
I- Lifting device made up of a vertical pylon carrying, at its top, a beam which forms a T with the latter and on which can move, in translation, the carriage carrying the load, characterized by the fact that the beam is articulated on the pylon around a horizontal axis, so that it can undergo vertical angular displacements which determine the automatic translations, in one direction or the other, of the load-carrying carriage.
