<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>

Gnaissage pump.
The present invention relates to a lubrication pump in which there is provided, for each pump unit, a distributor piston which delivers through a drip tray and a delivery piston which delivers the oil distributed to the lubrication point. It consists essentially in that a member set in motion during the operation of the pump constitutes the working cylinder of the distributor piston and also in that the operation of said piston is derived, at least in part, from the movement of the pump. 'organ containing the distributor piston * Such a dis

positive creates an advantageous construction and allows a controlled member, necessary for the operation of the pump, to be established at the same time to actuate the distributor piston or, on the other hand,
to use for another function the member constituting the cylinder of the distributor piston.
This is how, in accordance with. the invention, this member is preferably established in the form of a supply piston, which brings the lubricant under pressure to the working chamber of the distributor piston and ensures by this means, even when it is a viscous lubricant or thick, irreproachable filling of the working chamber of the dispensing pump.
In accordance with the invention, things are so arranged that the suction stroke of the distribution piston is forced or sustained by the pressure of the oil supplied by the supply piston to its aorta working chamber that in under any circumstance, the suction movement of the distributor piston is assured.
The distributor piston may be forced to perform its discharge course by a stopper capable of being moved in order to vary the quantity dispensed, but stationary during the operation of the pump, against which said piston is driven by the movement of the pump. supply piston. However, the distributor piston can also, in order to cause its delivery stroke, be connected so as to be unable to move axially, with the fixed adjustment device, provided for the adjustment of its stroke.
The pumping effect of the distributor piston is then obtained by virtue of the movement of that of the pump unit members which encloses its working chamber, for example of the supply piston e.
In order to evacuate the excess oil, brought from the working chamber of the supply piston, during the delivery stroke of the latter, into the working chamber of the rammed earth 'your distributor, a lateral orifice is provided . who drives / 1

to the free air from the bore enclosing the distributor piston, which orifice is released by the distributor piston in the suction stroke, while pressurized oil is supplied to its working chamber, while, during the delivery stroke, this piston slides over this orifice and the mask.
Consequently, the working chamber of the distributing piston is, during the suction stroke, bathed in pressurized oil, and its working chamber is prevented from being completely filled with oil at the start of the discharge stroke. and that irregularities occur in the flow rate of the pump unit.
Some embodiments of the invention are shown schematically in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figures 1 and 3 show two vertical cross sections taken by lubricating pumps with pump units established according to the invention, while, figure 2 shows the detail of the upper end of the distributor piston according to figure 1, in a cut taken

perpendicular to the section plane in figure 1.
The pump units according to figure 1 are controlled by an eccentric shaft 1 which carries a cam 2 for each pump unit. On each cam 2 is mounted a double lever 3 whose forked end 4 embraces a rod 5 permanently mounted in the body or barrel of the pump, so that, while the shaft 1 turns, this lever end is guided, while its other end comprising a spherical pivot 6 performs a back-and-forth movement. This pivot 6 here actuates the corresponding pump unit because it engages in a transverse housing 7 of a rod 8 guided in a housing 9 which presents the body 10 of the pump unit. The point of attack of the spherical pivot 6 is located below the cross section of the rod.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Under these conditions, the rod 8 moves back and forth along a constant stroke and transmits its movements both to the 6-fed piston 11 and to the distributor piston 12 of the pump unit. The piston 11 placed in a bore 13 parallel to the bore 9 of the body 10 is firmly connected by a cross member 14 to the end of the rod 8 which protrudes from the bore 9. The cross member 14 tightly embraces the piston. end of piston 11; between the shoulders of a groove 17 and, by a second cutter, the end of the rod 8 by engaging in the lateral countersinks of the latter between the surfaces 15 and 16 (see also in fig. 2). Each axial displacement of the rod 8 therefore corresponds to the axial displacement of the piston 11.
There is furthermore drilled in the face of the end of the rod 8 which carries the cross member 14, a pocket-shaped cavity 19 in which the distributor piston 12 is mounted.
The latter has, in an axial bore 22, an overflow valve 20 which, when an appropriate pressure arises in the working chamber 21 closed by the piston 12 playing in the bore 19, opens to the free air in the direction of the discharge orifice 22 '. From the working chamber 21 leaves, in addition, a radial channel 23 which leads to a longitudinal lateral groove 24 which, provided on the lateral surface of the rod 8 , extends towards the lower end of this rod, up to a groove-shaped recess 58 made on the lateral surface of the rod 8.
In the hollow surface of the bore 9 is provided a recess 59, parallel to the axis, which starts from its lower end and rises to a certain height. The recesses 58 and 59 constitute a distribution element, the purpose of which will be explained below.
From the working chamber 21 of the distributor piston 12 leaves, in addition, the delivery channel 29 which extends radially to the rod 8 and opens into a recess 57 of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
side surface which connects, in the uppermost position of the rod 8, as shown, to the orifice of the discharge channel portion 29 'which continues into the body 10 of the discharge unit. pump. This constitutes a distribution for the discharge channel 2929 '.
The channel 29 'passes through the cylindrical bore 13 in which the delivery piston 11 is located. The latter has a groove 30 which joins the parts interrupted by the bore 13 of the partial delivery channel 29'. The width of the groove 30 is calculated so as to control the passage through the delivery channel 29 ', in the same direction as that which is already provided by the movements of the recess 57 of the screw rod. -to the opening of the delivery channel portion 29 '. This makes it possible to give the groove 30 as small a width as possible.
This type of pipe, combined with the groove 30 ,, is judicious, for manufacturing reasons, because it makes it possible to locate on the same plane both the axes of the bores 9 and 13 and those of the delivery channel 29,29 'and the drip nozzle 35.
The body 10 of the pump element is secured to the cover 31 by means of the screws 32 and the outlet nipple or fitting 33. Several pump units can be arranged next to each other on. the same cover 31. In order to collect the drops which fall from the nozzle 35, there is provided, on the cover 31, a bowl 36, to which a bowl part '36 'is connected, in the body 10 of each pump unit . These bowl parts are separated from each other by the part 38 ', established in the form of a screen, of a sealing plate 38, disposed between the bodies 10 of the pump units and the cover 31. The cover 31 closes the opening
54 of the pump body 37 by which the parts are assembled.
From the bowl 36 'there is a suction channel 36 "leading to the working chamber 34 of the delivery piston.

bution 39 which functions in the manner of a valve and which is guided in the bore 13 of the cylinder. The piston 39 is forced from the bottom up by a spring 40, so that it always ted to slide over and close the delivery channel 42 which starts from the bore 13. The latter continues in the connection 33 in the direction of the point to be lubricated, the highest position of the distribution piston 39 is determined by a base 41.
Under the latter Si engages a shoulder 43 of the lower end of the rod 8, so that, when the latter rises, it drives the distribution piston 39, in the event of failure of the spring 40 and closes the delivery channel 42 The lower end of the rod 8 and the spring loaded end of the piston 39 are both located in the cavity 44 of a cap 46 fixed securely by screws 45 to the body 10 of the unit. pump and forming the working chamber of the rod 8 playing the role of distributor piston.
The pump unit operates as follows: when the shaft 1 rotates in any direction, the pivot or spherical journal 6 of the lever 3 causes the rod or sleeve 8 to rise and fall, with a constant stroke, and drive, by means of the cross member 14, the supply piston II which, in the position shown in the drawings, just begins to perform its discharge stroke from top to bottom. The rod 8 plunges, by its lower end, into the working chamber 44 and begins by discharging the oil, passing through the opening 47, into the oil reservoir of the body or pump body 37, until that its dispensing edge 48 covers the opening of the bore 47, whereupon the oil is subjected to compression in the working chamber 44.
In the meantime, the recess 57 of the rod 8 has lowered sufficiently to interrupt the passage.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
through the discharge channel 29, 29 ', after which the channel-shaped emptying 58 coincides with the recess 59 of the bore 9, which has the effect of making the chamber 44 communicate with the chamber 21 of the distributor piston 12, passing through the recesses 59, 58, the longitudinal groove or channel 24 and the transverse channel 23.
The pressurized oil then flows from the working chamber 44 into the working chamber 21 and pushes the distributor piston 12 up out of the pocket 19 until it comes into contact with its shoulder 18. , against the lower face 14 'of the cross member 14. The excess oil discharged from the chamber 44 into the chamber 21 escapes, passing through the overflow valve 20, through the discharge orifice. flow 22 'and flows downward, greasing the gearings of the unit or pump block ,.
At the same time as the rod 8 also descends the supply piston 11 which plunges into its working chamber 34, enclosing here, between its front inner end and the front upper end of the distribution piston 39, a certain amount oil which it drives downward, dominating the force of the spring 40, concurrently with the distributor piston 39, until the upper front face of the piston 39 comes below the opening of the valve channel. discharge 42 through which the oil is discharged, passing through the connection 33, to the point to be lubricated. The downward movement of the distribution piston 39 with the base 41 is limited by the shoulder 50 of the cap 46.
The oil passing downward between the piston 39 and its guide 13 returns to the bowl 36 through the channel 51 and the bore 52.
During their suction stroke; stage 8 and piston 11 move from bottom to top. It occurs in the working chamber 44 of the rod 8 and, as long
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
that this is in communication with the working chamber 21 of the distributor piston 12, there also a negative pressure which prevails until the distributor edge 48 of the rod 8 slides upwards over the suction opening 47 and opens the latter. The oil is then sucked from the reservoir of the pump body 37, through the suction channel 47, into the working chamber 44.
So that, under the effect of the negative pressure which prevails in the working chamber 44, the distributor piston 12 cannot be sucked from top to bottom into the pocket 19, a brake is provided for the distributor piston 12 which is constituted by a tightening spring 60 held in a groove of the cross member 14 (see in FIG. 2).
Shortly after the rod 8 has started its suction stroke, the communication between the recesses 59 and 58, and therefore the communication between the working chambers 44 and 21, is interrupted. Towards the end of the suction stroke, the recess 57, into which the delivery channel 29 emerges from the working chamber 21, is placed in communication with the portion of the delivery channel 29 '.
The upper end of the distributor piston 12 then abuts against the adjustment screw 53 and the piston sinks more or less into the pocket 19 depending on the adjustment of the adjustment screw 53 and then delivers a quantity of oil , measured with precision, from the working chamber 21 to the drip nozzle 35, passing through the channel 29, the recess 57, the part 29 'of the discharge channel and the groove 30 of the discharge piston 11 .
As this flow takes place during the time when the control members of the pump block or unit are subjected to a very low load (time during which only the suction strokes of the rod 8 and the piston take place. 11) and that the working chamber 34 is deprived of pressure, no irregularities can occur in the flow of the distributor piston 12
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
due to elastic deformations of the pump units.
When the adjusting screw 53 occupies the position shown in FIG. 1, the distributor piston does not perform any discharge stroke. In order to be able to carry out one, the adjustment screw 53 must be loosened in a corresponding manner. By this means it is possible to adjust the flow rate of the pump unit between zero and a certain degree.
From the drip nozzle or nozzle 35, the oil falls into the bowl 36 of the cover 31 and trickles through the screen-like portion 38 'of the sealing plate 38 disposed between the body 10 of the block or unit. pump and the cover 31, to pass, in a clean state, into the part 36 'of the bowl and from there, through the suction channel 36 ", into the working chamber 34 of the delivery piston 11.
Under the action of the spring 40, the distributor piston 39 also follows the upward suction stroke of the piston 11 If this spring were not sufficient to ensure this result, this piston would be driven from the bottom up by the shoulder 43 of the rod 8 which abuts through the Las opntre the collar 41. The piston then slides over the flow anal 42 and closes it.
As can be seen, the pump block or unit is set up in a very simple manner; The bores for the pistons are provided parallel to each other in the body 10 of the pump unit and can therefore be made with the necessary precision with little labor requirement. Similarly, the assembly of the various parts can be done easily without mistakes or missed shots being possible.
In Figure 3, there is shown a block or unit of

similar pump, constructed in accordance with the invention. The communication between the working chamber 44 of the rod 8,
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
functioning as fine piston, and the working chamber
21 of the distributor piston 12 is established here at the aiae of the bore 26 of the rod 8, which contains a check valve 27 which opens from bottom to top and whose seat is constituted by a screw connection 28. From the bore 26 runs raaially to the longitudinal lateral groove 24 of the lateral surface of the rod a bore 25, so that a controlled connection is established between the working chambers 44 and 21, by means of line 23, 24, 25, 26 and check valve 27.
The distributor piston 12 is, in this embodiment, axially and immutably connected to the adjusting screw 5 by a claw coupling, so as to be firmly held in any position of the screw. adjustment 53, vis-à-vis the rod 8 and to perform in the pocket 19 the same stroke as that performed by the rod 8 in the bore 9 of the body 10 of the pump unit.
As too full for the excess oil discharged from the working chamber 44 into the working chamber 21, the rod 8 has a lateral orifice 56 through which passes, masking it by its lower face end, the distri - striker 12, in the suction stroke of the rod 8, after which it performs its discharge stroke.
In order that at the start of the suction stroke of the distributor piston 12 and as long as the discharge channel 29-29 'is still open, no oil can be sucked back into the working chamber 21, it is provided in part 29 'of the delivery channel, a check valve 61 subjected to the action of a spring. This valve also prevents oil from being forced back through the drip nozzle, before the opening 56 is closed by the distributor piston 12, during the delivery stroke of the latter. details which have been described above, the pump block or unit according to FIG. 3 is established
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
exactly the same way as the one shown in Figure 1.
It works as follows:
From the position shown at the start of the discharge stroke, the rod 8 descends. The distribution piston 12, retained by the adjusting screw, has come out of the pocket-shaped wound 19. In the event that it is would then produce a greater vacuum in the working chamber 21, the check valve 27 opens and an oil flow takes place in the working chamber 21, passing through the pipe 23,24 , 25,26, the check valve 61 of the delivery channel 29 ′ however remaining closed.
As long as the distribution edge 48 of the rod 8 releases the suction channel 47, oil is pumped from the chamber 44 through the channel 47, near sealing of the channel 47, the oil is expelled from the chamber 44 , after lifting the check valve 27, in the working chamber 21 of the distributor piston, passing through the pipe 23, 24, 25, 26. However, the piston 12 has, in the meantime, passed upward over the lower edge 62 of the lateral opening 56 of the piston 8 and the oil flows, therefore, through the overflow opening 56, into the reservoir of the pump body 37, greasing the parts in the process or engaging pump management.
At the suction stroke of the rod 8, there first occurs in the working chamber 44 a vacuum which, due to the return valve 27, cannot often have any effect on the pressure. working chamber 21 which is filled with oil, After the recess 57 has come into communication with the part 29 'of the discharge chamber, the distributor piston 12 slides over the edge 62 and re- crowd, towards the end of the suction stroke of the rod 8, the oil which it traps in the working chamber 21, in
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
passing through the discharge cnnal 29, 29 'and the check valve 61, towards the drip nozzle 35. From this, the oil drips into the bowl 36 from where it returns to the working chamber 34 of the delivery piston 11.
