<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
couvercles.
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Gear change device"
The invention relates to a gear change device using pinions. For simplicity, use will be made of the expressions speed reducer and reduction ratios, assuming that the device has an "input shaft" located on the higher speed side. It goes without saying that the invention extends to the reverse arrangement.
In various industrial applications it is. known to make use of a removable assembly, forming a block and designated for example by gearbox.
The gear change device according to the invention comprises, among other things, original features in the constitution of gearboxes, in a mechanical assembly formed of two or more gearboxes and in removable elements capable of being integrated into one. or the other gearbox so as to modify the reduction ratios and the modes of mechanical connection between the boxes.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Part of the invention consists of a gear change device comprising a gearbox provided with an identical input and output shaft, on which are mounted two removable and interchangeable pinions in the same gearbox, the said gearbox. gear change further comprising externally to the box and capable of being integrated therein replacing the aforementioned pair of pinions one, two or more pairs of pinions of different reduction ratios, but all having the same between axis ,,
The center distance of the pinions of all the torques is constant and its value expressed in millimeters divided by half of the apparent modulus gives an integer.
This whole number represents the sum of the teeth of the pinions constituting each pair which can be qualified as interchangeable., The ratio of the respective numbers of teeth of each pinion of a pair is the reduction ratio of this pair
In the case of the invention, the bearings or bearings of the input and output shafts will advantageously be identical. This arrangement, like that of the equal cross-section of the input and output shafts, sacrifices the indications of the calculation to the advantages of mass production and minimum stock.
The invention also consists in the construction of a speed change unit formed by mechanical connection of two or more identical gearboxes apart from the reduction ratios which may or may not be identical and the locations and orientations of the input shafts. and exit.
This speed change unit can be associated to form
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
an assembly forming a commercial product, on the one hand a certain number of complementary gearboxes, on the other hand a set of pairs of pinions of various reduction ratios but the same between axis and possibly shafts capable of constituting both shaft output for a gearbox and input shaft for the gearbox which is mechanically connected to the previous one as well as the centering elements of one gearbox with respect to the other and for fixing the gearboxes between them,
Other features of the invention will appear in the description which follows and the drawings to which it refers,
which gives inter alia by way of nonlimiting example certain details relating to an optional embodiment of the invention.
In these drawings:
FIG. 1 shows a plan view, in section, of a gear changing device produced according to the invention.
Figure 2 shows a plan view, in section, of an assembly formed by the association of two gearboxes according to Figure 1.
It appears. in Figure 1 that the gearbox essentially comprises a housing 1 in which are housed the removable pinions 2 and 3 carried respectively by the shafts 4 and 5 preferably having the same diameter. These shafts rotate in bearings or bearings 6,7 and 8,9 which are advantageously identical. The side faces 1 'and 1' of the casing 1 are advantageously erected and lined at the locations of the removable cover shafts such as 1a, 11 and 12, 13 1 sealing being provided by the intervention of seals interposed between the side faces and the said
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
lids.
10 'and 12' joints must make the box 1; tight on the side of the side faces crossed by the treeso
It can also be noted that the input and output shafts can protrude on one face of the housing or on the two lateral faces of the latter.
According to an important characteristic, the frame of the box has two planes of symmetry: the longitudinal plane of symmetry is perpendicular to the shafts while the transverse plane of symmetry, parallel to the shafts, passes through the middle of the center distance. This arrangement is advantageous in that it allows the pinions to be interchanged and mainly because it allows the assembly of two or more boxes by bringing their upright side faces together. As a result of the symmetry, that the size does not exceed in width the upright side faces and that the center distance is constant, the assembly makes it possible to constitute a speed change unit pa, r mechanical linkage of two or several identical boxes.
It is, for example, possible to associate the boxes so that the transverse planes of symmetry coincide, that is to say that the input and output axes are located one in the extension of the other.
According to a variant of association, the boxes can be juxtaposed with offset of their transverse planes of symmetry so that they are parallel.
Figure 2 shows by way of non-limiting example a mode of association of two gearboxes which are placed side by side to make the side faces and the transverse planes of symmetry coincide. The input shaft 14 and the output shaft 15 are located in the continuation of one another, the movement
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
being transmitted to the intervention of the intermediate shaft 16.
These shafts carry the pinions which must provide the planned reduction ratio. In order to achieve easy centering, centering rings 17 and 18 are provided which fit into the housings of the side faces in contact. A seal 19 compressed by connecting bolts such as 20 prevents oil seepage between the juxtaposed boxes ,,
The possibility of associating two or more boxes makes it possible to obtain a variety of reduction ratios by the use of shafts capable of serving as an output shaft for a box and as an input shaft for the contiguous box as well as by the ability to interchange the pairs of pinions of each box.
Thus, three pairs of interchangeable pinions of ratio 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4, can ':, by one or the other of the associations explained above provide the ratios 1/4, 1/6, , 1/8, 1/9 1/12 and 1/160
