<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
d'utilisation,

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Electric current generator installation with a dynamo supplying a battery with direct current and circuits of use in direct and alternating current.
(André VINTENON invention).
In its French patent no.800.651 of April 8, 193 (, the Applicant described an installation "comprising a main generator with intermittent operation which, when it is running, must both supply the user circuits with direct current and charge. a battery of accumulators, installation in which is connected, in series with the battery, the armature of the generator of a booster whose excitation is produced by two differential windings connected in branch, the '' one at the battery terminals and the other at the circuit terminals
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of use,
one of these windings being placed in series with a variable resistance as a function of the voltage at the terminals of the use circuit with a view to varying the mutual influence of the two excitation windings, in particular during discharge.
Such an arrangement makes it possible, when the generator is running, to supply the user circuits with constant voltage and at the same time to charge the battery at increasing voltage; when the generator is stopped and only the battery supplies the user circuits, this arrangement raises the voltage of the battery in order to supply these circuits at constant voltage and thus makes it possible to use the full capacity of the battery.
The object of the present invention is to make it possible to obtain the same result in the supply of alternating current user circuits from a direct current generator, with a view in particular to the lighting of vehicles by means of tubes. landfills,
According to the invention, this result is achieved in a particularly simple way by arranging the control motor of the aforementioned booster so that it simultaneously plays the role of a commutator delivering an alternating current whose tension is regulated without other artifice by the known assembly recalled above.
For this purpose, the shaft of said motor is fitted, if it is a question of obtaining three-phase current, with three rings connected respectively at three points equidistant from the armature winding and the wipers of these three rings at the three primary terminals of a transformer.
The description which will follow, with reference to the appended drawing, given by way of non-limiting example, will make it clear how the invention can be put into practice,
The single figure schematically represents an assembly according to the invention.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
A generator or dynamo 1 of the shunt or compound type is driven by any suitable means either directly by the engine of the vehicle or an auxiliary engine, or from one of the axles of this vehicle. the current produced by la'dynamo 1 is maintained at constant voltage by all appropriate means of known type. Thus, for example, as shown in the diagram, the inductor winding 2 of this dynamo is placed in series with the variable resistor 3a of a regulator 3, the excitation coil 3b of which is placed in shunt at the terminals $ of dynamo 1 so as to vary the value of the resistance in series with inductor 2 to maintain a constant voltage V1 across the terminals of dynamo 1.
In series on the circuit of the dynamo 1 is placed, in the usual manner, a contactor-circuit breaker which automatically turns on the dynamo 1 when the voltage thereof reaches the normal voltage of use. In the example shown, this contactor-circuit breaker is constituted by a current feedback relay 23 comprising two windings 23a and 23b which are respectively in series and in shunt with the dynamo 1. This relay controls a contact 23c which in turn controls the circuit of winding 4a acting on contact 4b of a contactor 4.
The accumulator battery 12 is mounted in the usual way as a bypass on the circuit of the dynamo 1 beyond the contact 4b of the contactor 4. In series with this battery 12 is arranged the armature 9 of the generator of a booster. , said armature 9 being mechanically connected to the armature 7 of the motor of this booster. The armature 7 of the motor is also mounted in shunt on the circuit of the dynamo 1, the inductor winding 8 of the motor being in shunt at the terminals of the armature 7.
An automatic contactor 5 is provided on the armature circuit 7 and its control winding 5a
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
is in bypass at the terminals of dynamo 1 and is controlled by a contact 4c of contactor 4.
A starting device of any suitable type can be provided on the motor of the booster group. Thus, for example, in the diagram shown, there is in the known manner, in series with the armature 7, an appropriate resistor 19 which can be short-circuited by means of a contactor 6 whose winding d the excitation 6a is mounted as a branch at the terminals of the armature 7,
The generator of the booster comprises two differential excitation windings, one of which 10 is in shunt at the terminals of the battery 12, while the other 11 is in shunt at the terminals of the network.
Any one -------- of these two windings 10 and 11, for example the winding 11 in the diagram shown, is connected in series with the variable resistor 14 of a regulator 13 whose coil excitation 13a is shunted across the terminals of the direct current utilization circuit so as to cause the value of resistor 14 to vary as a function of the voltage across said utilization circuit.
The variable resistors 3a and 13a can, for example, be formed by stacks of carbon disks, the compression of which varies by means of the regulator itself. The direct current utilization circuits 16 and 18 are controlled by switches 21 and 22 which comprise auxiliary contacts 21a and 22a coupled in parallel, these contacts also being in parallel with the contact 4c of the contactor 4. .
The operation of the device thus formed was explained in the aforementioned prior patent.
If the dynamo 1 turns, it supplies the DC utilization circuits at constant voltage and charges the battery 12, the generator of the booster then operates normally as a shunt differential booster, the effect
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
of regulator 13 being removed very simply by adjusting regulator 3 so that dynamo 1 gives a voltage Vl slightly higher than voltage V2 for regulating regulator 13, which means that the latter is stopped at the end of travel,
The resistance 14 which is in circuit is then maximum, the winding 10 is therefore preponderant and increases the voltage of the generator of the booster as the voltage V3 of the battery rises.
If the dynamo 1 is stopped, the battery 12 discharges in the use circuits through the armature
9 of the booster generator. The voltage given by the latter always depends on the ratio of the ampere-turns of the windings 10 and 11 and the purpose of the regulator 13, by varying the resistance 14, is to change this ratio. In fact, the current being reversed in the armature 9, the effects of the windings 10 and 11 are themselves reversed and the winding 10 which tended to raise the voltage during charging has an inverse effect which is corrected by the winding 11, which now has the same effect.
The regulator 13 modifies the value of the resistor 14 so that the total voltage V2 remains constant,
According to the present invention, the motor shaft 7 carries, in addition to its normal collector, three rings 24 which are connected at three points equidistant from the armature winding. The rubbers of these rings are connected to the three terminals of the primary 25 of a star-triangle transformer, the primary of which is in delta and the secondary 26 in star. To the four terminals of the secondary are connected the four wires of a line 27 for three-phase current distribution intended in particular to supply discharge lighting tubes.
The alternating voltage of this line is kept constant in the same way as the direct voltage of the user circuits 16 and 18 by the very play of the booster 9.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
It goes without saying that, without departing from the scope of the invention, it is possible to make modifications to the embodiment which has just been described.
In particular, as is shown in graphic lines in the diagram, resistor 14 of regulator 13 can be short-circuited by means of a contact 4d actuated by contactor 4 so that said resistor 14 is short-circuited. circuited when contactor 4 is energized, that is to say when dynamo 1 is rotating and discharging in the use circuits.
In a second variant embodiment shown in phantom in the attached diagram, the excitation of the booster motor comprises, in addition to the winding 8, a second excitation winding 8a suitably arranged to produce an effect opposite to that of. winding 8 during discharge and therefore in the same direction during charging due to the change of direction of the current in the armature 9. This winding Sa. is connected to the terminals of the armature 9 of the generator of the booster. In addition, in this second variant, the armature 7 of the booster motor is connected in branch to the terminals of the battery 12 instead of being connected in branch on the user circuit.
